This was the first stop in our Namibia cross-country trip, and it was a great way to start our adventure. I have lived in Khorixas for the last 2 years and am kicking myself for not getting to Palwag sooner! There are so many animals in this area, including herds of giraffes, elephants and jackals, even though it had been...

Stayed at Palmwag again this past summer, and the campsite remains second to none in Kaokoland. Large sites, some of the further out ones nice & private, some with good shade, and some with none. Newly refurbished clean ablutions; properly cleaned daily. Great atmosphere & sunsets, plenty of game (incl. elle's) passing through the campsite daily. Superb base for doing...

We stayed at Palmwag 20 years ago and it was charming, with good service, comfortable rooms and excellent food. We returned for three nights in January 2017 and it is no longer the same. The service comes w/o a smile or much care; or room was somewhat rundown. We came in late on the first night and there were no...

When we last visited Palmwag they were busy with building additions and renovations and the work that they put in is evident. Service is as warm and friendly as i remember it. We got to stay on the same campsite as we did in 2014 - campsite 2. Upon arrival we spotted Jimbo's (the resident elephant) spoor right were we...

My second visit to this lodge - for one night on my to Epupa Falls - and I've noticed some welcome changes to the general upkeep of the place. A year ago (give or take a week) there were spots near reception and outside some rooms where the smell of sewage was rather overpowering. This year, I specifically requested one...

We stayed one night in the lodge and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was nice to sleep in proper beds once (we always camped the other nights) and have a nice shower. Each lodge has nice views over the valley, where we alreays spotted a lot of giraffes and some oryx from our veranda. The lodge price includes dinner and...

Palmwag Lodge has a fantastic camp site with great facilities and a wonderfull view. We spent the whole afternoon and evening on our "terrace" and watched an elephant that spent its day right next to our site. The staff is very friendly. We had a great time there. As I mentioned in the headline. They have a small workshop on...

On our 3 week tour of Namibia, this was the most expensive place we stayed. We stopped there as we had 25 years ago on our first visit to the country. It is now very up-market and worth a visit if you want some luxury. We found all the staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was nothing special...

Nice place but the staff was very rude and untrained.Very disappointed with the service we got from the time we arrived. Please check your bill when you check out. They just load anybody's items on your bill. There was no one to assist us with carrying our bags when we checked in and out. I had two old folks with me and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A paradise on the Uniab River in northwest Damaraland - a vacation opportunity with a difference. Waving palms whispering in the wind, spectacular surroundings which harbour the famous desert elephant, the rare black rhino, giraffe, zebra, gemsbok and many other wild animal species, sunsets to dream of. This is Palmwag Lodge, one of Namibia's oldest and most popular tourist rendezvous. The predator population is the largest outside of the Etosha National Park, with over 100 lions, cheetah, leopard, brown and spotted hyena. Bird life is prolific and diverse with most of Namibia's endemics present. This concession supports a healthy population of desert adapted black rhino and elephants, under the management of the Save the Rhino Trust. ... more   less
