While in Namibia you have to visit the Skeleton Coast and unfortunately the NWR Terrace Bay Resort is the only game in town. First, trying to book this place is a nightmare - phone calls, emails - it was a very time consuming process but I guess when you are government run and the only game in town efficiency does not...

Very interesting trip to the Skeleton Coast. I didn't know what to expect beforehand, but will say that the reviewer before me who described The SC as the place you go when you want to see how far you can possibly drive away from civilization is exactly right. Our little beach house was simple- no frills here. But the bar...

The campsite is simple, but it had everything we needed. We really liked to camp directly at the coast. Lovely skies in the morning and evening and we saw a jakhals walking by. As all NWR campsites, it is a bit overpriced. But the staff was friendly and helpfull.

The rooms are in poor repair although the bedding is freshly laundered and it is clean. We arrived at 3pm and waited until 5.30 for our rooms to be ready. The food in the restaurant was unimaginative - it's a prime fishing destination but the fish served was frozen. A major, major plus was the awesome staff, really friendly and...

Terrace Bay Resort. Summary: The rooms are basic. And I mean b-a-s-i-c. They have a door that locks. There is a bed and a toilet and shower. That's it ! Oh, there is a coffee/tea station with a hot water kettle and tea bags and decaf coffee. The restaurant is quirky with the walls and ceiling covered in graffiti from...

Very clearly a place to stay if you fish; no other reason to come. Stayed just 1 night, and found the chalet cold, damp and totally lacking any character. Akin to a 1950's holiday camp...? It was at least great to be able to hear the ocean. A $500 dollar deposit required for the room key. However, the real surprise...

Four of us spent two nights here in July and we loved it! It is not 5 star and the rooms are a little rough around the edges but the location, the friendliness of the staff and its uniqueness make it well worth including on your itinerary. From the moment we finally turned off the awful corrugated gravel road from...

It was a foggy day! We drove 400km along the martian-like Skeleton Coast with the mist rolling in from the sea. We saw several wrecks and skeletons of various animals and arrived at Terrace Bay in the evening. It was foggy, it was dark and it was bleak! We collected the key from a ramshackle office and had to use...

Answer - for the fishing. There is no other reason that we can see. You would've been to Cape Cross so seen the beauty of the Skeleton Coast. What would you want to spend the night in a former diamond mine where nothing much seems to have been done to convert it to a 'resort' other than change the signs....

The flats are in a design like maybe 50 or more years ago. They are clean and also there is hot water for a shower. On the other hand, the lock almost fell apart on my door, the room smell of humid air since there is permanent cloud cover there and pretty cool at this time of the year. The...
