A couple of days in the Hudson Valley with our son, daughter in law and new baby. As people have noted a strange approach and the current location is not good. It is clear, however, that the locality is being spruced up and I would expect this to be a fine location in a year or two. Excellent service and a really comfortable king sized room on the ground floor. The decor was soothing, the bed as comfy as you like and a huge bathroom. BUT the bathroom was cold and would be good for getting chillblains. We would be more than happy to return.

As we approached the hotel we were shocked at the surrounding neighborhood. Things are old and in a state of disrepair! But the hotel (an old candle factory) has been extensively remodeled & is stunning. We had a king suite on the top floor, looking out the back of the property. It was great! High ceilings, classy mid-century modern decor, soothing colors, and ample space. The bathroom is huge and looks like something from a magazine. The lighting was a bit tricky and unusual. The off/ on switches control both the bedroom and front room together. ie- if the bedroom lights are on, the front room lights are also on. The bedroom switch has a dimmer so you can at least dim the hanging light fixtures, again simultaneously. Seems the lighting situation could be improved.

We had high hopes for this property. The concept of an old candle factory converted to a hotel sounded fun. Also, the Hudson River location was promising. Unfortunately, this place has liabilities that are hard to overcome. First of all, good luck finding it. It’s up a narrow residential street that looks a bit rough. We had to call the hotel for directions even though we had maps. The Clerk’s directions were not accurate. Had to make multiple calls. Second, there are no views. We posted a photo of the view from our room. No river, just a parking lot and dumpster. Nite- we had a king suite. The bathroom was the best part of the experience. We could hear lots of footsteps from above as our room was under the lobby. The train noise during the night didn’t help either. Skip the breakfast service- go down to the corner market instead. Hudson is a great town. I wish I could say the same for The Wick.

This property is located on a very dark side street. parking is on lower level. The majority of the Rooms are on lower level - Basement. Smells musty and of Mold. Marriott is being overly generous rating this a portfolio collection. They need to review their standards of excellence.
