We had (4) generations (ages 13-95 years old) gather for our family reunion at the spectacular setting of Oheka Castle for an extended weekend stay. The castle and rooms were beautiful and the gardens were stunning! (My recommendation is to rent the suite in room #403 as one of the rooms in your group. It served as our gathering place...

We were a group of 8 women celebrating our friend's cancer free report by taking the tour with lunch at Oheka Castle. Our tour guide, Laura, was delightful, extremely knowledgeable and very professional. Lunch was fabulous and Gary Melius, the owner of Oheka, stopped by our table and graciously took pictures. There is a real family feeling between Gary and...

Oheka Castle comes with a lot of expectations. The pictues are stunning, the reviews are amazing, the buzz is good. We, however, experienced it first hand and were less than wow'ed by the experience. The best part is when you enter the premises and you see this stunning vista of the castle and the grand enterance. Shades of Versailles. It...

From concierge to the restaurant to every ornate detail you'll find in the castle, there's a strong emphasis on guests' needs and the preservation of the rich history of this Long Island landmark. Not only will you relive the glamor and splendor of historic Long Island, but you'll receive attentive service in every part of your stay. I've had friends...

Oheka Castle was commissioned by the investment banker and philanthropist Otto Hermann Khan as his country residence. The wealthy high society of Huntington, Long Island refused Khan's application to their nearby country club and golf course because he was Jewish. Khan decided he would build an estate with his own golf course which would rival both their country club and...

I am obsessed with castles and the Oheka Castle did not disappoint. The grounds are gorgeous and it is adjacent to a golf course if you like to golf. The castle is not far from the city although you will feel like you are worlds away from it. This is popular for weddings and events, but you can also come...

A luxurious estate in the middle of Long Island. Right off Jericho Turnpike. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are attentive and polite. The room we had was small but beautifully appointed. Very gracious and relaxing. A true luxury experience.

We stayed at the oheka castle since we were supposed to stay at another hotel which was overbooked so they sent us for a complimentary night. The property was beautiful and could see why people would choose it for a wedding destination. However, the guest rooms were very small and outdated. Our room had very little light and was painted...

My husband and I went to Oheka to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We stayed there overnight, as well, as, dined at the restaurant on grounds. I won't say it isn't expensive to stay there but it was a lovely experience. The staff is SO cordial, helpful and accommodating (if you ask for Daniel you will not be disappointed), and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
OHEKA CASTLE is a majestic historic mansion located on Long Island's famed Gold Coast between New York City and The Hamptons. This French-style chateau is the second largest private residence in America and has undergone $30 million in restoration to transform this stately home back to its former 1920's grandeur. OHEKA is listed on the National Register for Historic Places and boasts 32 luxuriously appointed guestrooms and suites on the upper floors where guests can sleep like royalty. Guests can enjoy a leisurely stroll around the beautiful formal gardens designed by the Olmsted Brothers, take a mansion tour and learn about the rich history of OHEKA and Otto Kahn, or dine in the OHEKA Bar and Restaurant before retiring to your uniquely designed guestroom for an in-room massage. Breathtakingly beautiful, OHEKA CASTLE is admired around the world as a premier venue for exquisite weddings and gala celebrations and has been the backdrop to many prominent film and photo productions. The refined European atmosphere and the feeling of being transported back in time to the decadence of the Roaring Twenties consistently gives OHEKA the recognition as America's Grandest Castle. ... more   less
