Getting there
Good for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
I've stayed at this La Quinta every summer for the past 5 years. On the positive side, the staff are ALWAYS cheerful, friendly, happy to answer questions. It's located downtown within walking distance to numerous attractions, shops, the Riverwalk, local restaurants and nightlife (at least, what qualifies as nightlife in Jamestown). The rooms and facility are always clean. (The showers could use some shelves for toiletries.). That being said, there are negatives. First, they advertise having a pool, but if you are a single traveler, you're not allowed to use it. Even though the pool is right there next to the lobby, well within view of multiple staff members, single travelers aren't permitted to use the pool allegedly for safety reasons. Second, they advertise "fast" WiFi internet, which is a total lie. I've tried to address this with staff every time I've stayed, but get excuses each time. The WiFi signal barely reaches the rooms, and is slow almost to the point of being worthless. They could greatly improve this by installing cheap WiFi repeaters (several on each floor, to reach all the rooms), would barely cost the place anything yet would greatly improve guest experience. Lastly, I have yet to figure out why the stairwells always smell like greasy fried potatoes.

Windows in hotel rooms can not open for fresh air. This is very unsanitary not to mention the bad odor in the rooms. If there is a safety concern, then arrange for an opening of at least 5-6 inches. Also, please install hand held shower heads in the bathrooms. The unremovable top shower head is inconvenient and a primitive way of showering. In Europe these features are common.

Nice lot to park in. Hotel near many restaurants and a few walking blocks from the Lucy Desi Museum. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Room clean and comfortable. Very nice breakfast and area for eating. Ran into an issue where we got locked out of our room while having breakfast. Our room was given to someone else during that time and the couple realized someone was in the room so they immediately returned to the front desk. Thank goodness that they were honest people as our purses and valuables were in the room. The front desk apologized for this error but we continuously reminded them that we were still in the room and to not give it away again. Prior to checking in we also ran into an issue that we were overcharged for the room. This was quickly remedied and the correct charge was given to us. The entire staff was very nice and apologetic for issues we encountered

The selling points for this hotel are the location to the National Comedy Center and Cody (front desk) who was responsive and professional. Cody was helpful when we checked in and out as well as when we requested another room due to the condition of the room we were initially provided. There were a lot of concerns about the first room but I’ll leave it at one of the pillowcases was covered with makeup and the bed had already been slept in. The room we ended up staying in was much cleaner; however, as with the first room, everything glass was streaked and smudged as though a dirty towel was used to clean them. Also, at one point we realized the closet doors were missing. The fabric on the chairs in the breakfast area was heavily stained and just plain dirty. This hotel needs a very thorough cleaning, furnishings that are meant to hold up to high use and sufficient staff to maintain it.

Wow! Traveling with family, we booked 3 rooms for 3 couples here and Matthew, the hotel’s front desk representative, provided excellent customer service and his work ethic blew us away. He provided us great recommendations and clearly explained the possible issues with hotel parking. Parking can pose problems since there are more guest rooms than parking spaces. However, Matthew provided excellent information on parking elsewhere when the lot is filled to capacity which happened to us on Saturday night and we had no issues with alternative parking. The hotel was clean and breakfast was a treat. We enjoy playing cards in the evenings and the lobby provided great seats and tables that met our needs. Plus, we were able to walk to good restaurants and all the downtown attractions. When you add all of this to super budget pricing, you will make the obvious decision when visiting Jamestown and find your own great surprise!

The day of our stay we realized we were going to get to the hotel late due to family obligations so we called and let the hotel know and told them we did not want them to rent out our selected king room. The person who answered said that would not be an issue and they would never rent out our room. When we arrived at the hotel at 10:00 pm. we were told there were no king rooms left our room had been rented. We were told in it's place we would get a double queen suite at the same price. Not happy but just wanting to start our weekend we agreed. When we entered the elevator there was a liquid dripping down the control panel and running down the wall and a puddle under it on the flood. There was also a very strong almost skunk like odor in the elevator so bad we had to cover our noses. We hoped to have relief of the odor when we got off the elevator but it was only worse in the halls on our floor so we hurried to the room which happened to be at the very end of the hall. When we got there the door was broken and appeared at some point to have been pried open with a crowbar. Photo attached. Luckily the door still operated but we were not sure how secure it was so we used the bar lock inside at all times. The room itself was not bad other than it not being what I considered a suite and the beds being so high I was not able to get into them without a boost from my husband. When we went to breakfast the next morning the scent in the hall was covered by the scent of breakfast which was welcoming. The puddle in the elevator had been cleaned up but the drips down the panel and wall were still there and remained the entre weekend. Whenever breakfast was not cooking the skunk scent returned all weekend. We were never comfortable in the room and regret not leaving for a nicer more comfortable hotel while we attended meetings in the area.

The hotel was a 3 min walk from the Comedy Centre and Lucy Desi Museum as well as some great eateries and shops. Directly across the street from a great restaurant and a convention centre There was a great hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy and waffles. All drive king cups were wrapped in Saran as well as the fruit. A great touch for keeping food safe

This was our first trip to Jamestown and La Quinta was the first hotel that popped up in the search results for Jamestown. It looked nice, new(er) and clean on the web so we booked it. We had considered the Doubletree next door but the only rooms available there were accessible rooms, so we stuck with La Quinta. We couldn't have been more disappointed with the (interior's) cleanliness. Our floor hadn't been vacuumed our entire stay, our bathroom toilet didn't flush, our room's surfaces had not been wiped down prior to our stay (and it wasn't the first room we were assigned). I could go on and on but I think I've made my point. Booker beware.

La Quinta in downtown Jamestown is the perfect base camp if visiting the National Comedy Center and/or the Lucille Ballet Museum. Those venues are within walking distance, and parking at the hotel is included (and ample), so no need to even move your car. The hotel has a great indoor pool, and a very filling hot breakfast. The hotel isn't luxury accommodation, but for the price you get a clean and comfortable room. Great pub/restaurant close by (Shawbucks) has good pub fair, and (if in the move) nighttime DJ on the weekends and dancing (for the younger crowd).

The only good things are the free breakfast and the location. Overall cleanliness is terrible! They’re in desperate need of a thorough deep cleaning and sanitizing. They also need to fix a lot of broken things and maybe even get a new paint job. The first room they gave me had stains all over the bed, so they gave me a new room. The new room’s AC unit was broken, so they gave me a new room. Guess what? That AC unit was broken too. So, they gave me a new room. Now, we’re on room number 4….the room was okay. There was a very faint stain at the end of the bed, some stains on the walls, and a decent size stain on the couch. The shower head’s water pressure was absolutely terrible. It was very low. The shower’s floor looked dirty. The carpet in the room looked kinda dirty too. At this point, I didn’t want to get a 5th room, so I stayed. The elevators, lobby, and hallways looked dirty and there was an odd bad smell throughout the entire hotel. So, beware! Luckily, I was only there for one night, so I just sucked it up.
