We enjoyed staying at the campground. It was nice to be in the tree because it was so hot . The bathrooms were not to bad . The staff kept them cleaned and some are remodeled . We liked the trail nearby to walk , a good way to get in a walk to get your steps in . The office /store has good internet and we found the check in staff to be friendly and helpful . The store part could use more items and gifts were lacking . There were a few mugs and some wrinkled t shirts . It would have been nice of them to partner with local businesses and add more items to their shop . The campground is in walking distance of Ausable chasm adventure .

We stayed for three nights to tour ausable chasm and some other local spots. The campsite was clean and quiet- was practically empty during our stay. We found that at least with Sprint the entire area is a dead zone. The WiFi only reaches to about 10 feet from the office building. But i guess the point is to disconnect right? They have a trail onsite but we didn’t have a chance to check it out. I did see a few mountain bikers go by on it from our site. We had a full hook up site so didn’t use any of their facilities like the bathhouse so can’t comment on that, though I do understand the showers are metered. Ausable really was a must see and I’d recommend High Falls Gorge too which was only about a 20 minute drive or so. Lake Placid is close too. You can’t beat the proximity to ausable chasm, its literally waking distance right around the corner. Reasonable prices too.

First, I’ll say that the bathrooms were clean and that was appreciated. Unfortunately there was a large group of RVs next to us that partied until 2AM multiple nights in a row. Loud music, drunk, yelling profanities and they were the only ones making noise. I’m not sure if there are quiet hours, but clearly not enforced. It seems these particular people are regulars and there are no consequences for their disrespectful behavior. Camping should be fun yes, but many campers also go for the peace and sounds of nature. Won’t be coming back again and will warn others not to.

Spend the extra $$ for the River Walk - well worth it. Great views - expect to spend 3-4 hours here just on the trails alone. While many places are certainly worth taking pictures - the pictures do this place no justice. Need to see it for yourself. Disappointed in that there was no tubing due to COVID-19 - sorry, that cost you a star in my review. Stand up to our abusive governor next time. Campgrounds are fairly basic but nice. The cabin we rented was nice and comfy - but it's just a room with 2 beds and a desk inside and a porch with a chair outside along with a picnic table, fire ring and BBQ grill. Have to use the communal bathrooms with everyone else. Campground personnel could do a better job of enforcing quiet hours though. The family with the 4 hyper kids across from us could have given their out of control kids some NyQuil and Benadryl as soon as they got here. Maybe screen campers better to put the noisy types elsewhere away from those of us who want quiet. Opportunities for improvement - the COVID-19 excuses for not handing out maps and running the tubing was a bit lame. Seemed it was more out of convenience for the employees running the place than actual health issues. The food service in the welcome center was painfully slow and they were out of ingredients - waited 25 minutes for two sandwiches and there was no WiFi or cell phone reception inside. Checking in to the campground - we had to wait outside. Hello - everyone's wearing facemasks... we're not in an infectious disease research lab.

So with the Corona virus going on I called over a month in advance to cancel my reservations. I am 59 and have breathing problems and really don't want to risk being around a lot of people who may or may nor be wearing masks and "social distancing" Now I'm being told that since there opening on June 19th with restrictions... I come or I have to pay a fee? I was told I was going to be charged a booking fee and a cancellation fee .Now I would understand if this were canceled on a whim but it's not. I am trying to cancel because of the corona virus!.And as a Google Guide I DO NOT recommend this campground. I was going to re-book, But now I will not .I know the $15 dollar fee may not be a lot I think that during this time when money is tight and people are out of work every penny is valuable. And I see no value in spending my money at this campground ever again. So for $15 dollars you've lost a customer and maybe more than 1. IF I was able to give 0 stars that's what this would be.Only after this review was published did I get a call asking me to remove it. and offered a refund.Bad business practice
