Perfect stay in this B&B located close to excellent places to eat and explore. Wonderful rooms - we booked two for our family. The bath in the James room was a nice treat. Wonderful breakfasts in the garden every morning, relaxing out on the quiet front porch every evening. A fantastic host. Could not have been any better.

My husband and I came across The Forsyth B&B when we decided to get married in Kingston, NY. We reached out to the owner, Tamara, who is the most incredible host. And what an operation she is running! To start, The Forsyth is conveniently located in a great part of Kingston, walkable to many bars and restaurants. The Inn itself is gorgeously and thoughtfully decorated with modern, chic decor and meaningful artwork. Tamara is a lovely woman who knows most of the best folks in town. She was quick to respond, worked within our budget, and recommended some amazing vendors to work with. She also didn’t miss a beat when the pandemic caused us to move our wedding date an entire year (at no extra cost). The barn in the backyard was where we held our rehearsal dinner for about 40 people. It was a bright, chic space and fit my vision exactly. Her gardens and backyard space are exquisite and intimate, complete with a fire pit. The weekend of our wedding, Tamara was on site the entire time, along with her fabulous assistant, Marla. Now, the best part… the FOOD. Tamara is a trained pastry chef. Every single dish we had all weekend was FABULOUS. I will forever dream of this citrus salad she made one morning. My immediate family and groom's parents stayed at the Inn for the whole weekend and enjoyed three meals a day with these two incredible chefs. My makeup artist even commented "I've never seen a bride actually eat on her wedding day"... but how could I resist the delicious breakfast and lunch she made for my bridal party and me? DELICIOUS! My wish for my wedding weekend was low-stress and this was exactly that. With everything on site, my parents didn’t need to lift a finger. I highly recommend the Forsyth to anyone visiting Kingston for a night or weekend, or looking for a space for a smaller wedding, wedding accommodation, or another event. The space is flexible and Tamara and the team are AMAZING. Worth every penny and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Thank you, Forsyth, for hosting us on our wedding weekend!

I held my 40th birthday party here. It was amazing. I am local to Kingston and searched for a venue for several months. I had my party in 2022 and many venues in town or surrounding towns were booked solid because of delayed pandemic weddings and other celebrations that were rebooked. I wanted to have my party in our town but needed a bigger space than our house. I happened to see photos of an event held at the Barn at the Forsyth on an event venue site and it was exactly what I was looking for. We rented the barn - which included use of the the garden for Friday evening until Sunday morning- and an upstairs loft for sleeping. We were allowed to have guests stay in the barn Friday- Sunday morning. It was perfect for a family of out of town guests. Catering is available onsite and if you want to serve alcohol - you have to get the event insurance for your event. I ended up having an incredible party where we ate, danced, and laughed for hours. It was perfect Highlights: Super low key, detail orientated and helpful on site staff. Marla was great. She helped coordinate everything on site prior to our arrival. The barn was a stunning space. It’s a converted barn event space. Simple layout with cement floor and a small bar area. It has a sink, microwave, and coffee maker. Theres also a very cool retro looking cooler we used for drinks. You can make the space your own. The garden is perfect. There are tables and chairs with a few umbrellas. The flowers were in full bloom back there. Perfect! There is a bathroom for guests. On the first floor of the barn. There is a sound system that we used all night and it was amazing. Two tables were available in the space where we put all of our food and drinks. I appreciated that there was no other furniture so we could use the space how we wanted to. We wanted the floor space for dancing and it worked perfectly. Notes: Parking in Kingston on the best of days in a hot mess. There was construction on Abeel Street which made things somewhat worse. Kingston is an old city with steep hills, one way roads and tight corners. There is very limited parking on West Union which is the entrance that all guest not staying in the B & B should use. Being local- we were prepared- we made suggestions of where people should park and made note that anyone who needed walking assistance should be dropped off at the west union entrance. Problem Solved. We made sure to clear out the guests from the Garden by 10 so that we wouldn’t violate the noise ordinance. You can have guests stay inside the barn space after 10 but they can’t go out to the garden after 10. Worked out fine.

Charming in a modern way which mixed aesthics with comfort. We stayed in the ground floor suite which had tons of space, a fabulous kitchenette (although we only made coffee), a really lovely primary bedroom with entrance to the garden, and a second bedroom with a big closet and a desk. Breakfasts were extraordinary - inventive, seasonal and delicious- and the innkeeper could not have been more gracious. Loved out stay!

We just returned from a fabulous late Fall stay at the Forsyth, which was the most inspiring house. Impeccable, sophisticated yet serene interiors with touches of wit throughout that would warrant a spread in Architectural Digest were it a home in nyc. Yet the house honors its Catskills setting, with a seamless blend of urban and woodsy. Hospitality is everywhere from the complimentary bar trolly in the living room to the homemade chocolate chip orange shortbread cookies fresh out of the oven in the afternoon on the tea station. I sat in the living room with soft music playing and thumbed through one of their art books after a walk around the Kingston shops which are an easy walk at the end of the block. Beds were insanely comfortable, everything pristinely clean and bathroom fixtures modern and sleek. Tamara was kind and funny and a huge help to us in navigating our way around the area. Breakfast was in a league of its own with maple walnut scones and homemade apricot jam, Greek yogurt with warm spiced apples, and then polenta with sautéed spinach and mushrooms topped with a fried egg as a breakfast entree. Just when I thought it couldn’t get cooler, we discovered there’s a beautiful barn on the property, renovated and luxurious that they rent out for events. Thinking of maybe having our wedding there next year if we can. Anyway, thank you, Forsyth for a glorious visit to Kingston. I know this b&b will remain one of my aesthetic inspirations forever and this visit one of abundance, fun, and warmth.

We two couples traveled up the Hudson to enjoy an historic house tour and a special dinner at the culinary institute. We booked this place for its convenience and dog-friendliness. We couldn't have enjoyed it more! The innkeeper Tamara offered fascinating information on the structure and helpful advice about where to nature-walk. The gorgeous spaces, both common and private, were decorated with an expert eye for eclectic harmony. Best of all, the breakfast continued our gourmand streak with delectable pumpkin bread, silky poached pears, and a rich polenta/egg/asparagus entree. Even cookies for the road! Perfection.

There is so much character and warmth here - the food, Tamara, the rooms. Everything about The Forsyth is exceptional. Tamara is kind, funny and generous. She is also a very gifted cook - the breakfasts and snacks were just unbelievable. Unbelievable. Some of the best bites I've ever had.

We spent three nights at the Forsyth on October 2021. There were many things that impressed us. First was the outstanding breakfasts. Each breakfast was unique and delicious. We had a fermata, which is almost like a quiche, potato pancake or pumpkin spiced pancakes. This was accompanied by a unique granola and home made baked good. I was impressed by the decorations and modernization of a house for the 1830"s. It was spotlessly clean. The inn keeper was very attentive to our needs and food preferences. An outstanding visit.

We rented The Forsyth B&B Inn & Barn for our wedding weekend from Thursday until Sunday. We wanted a space big enough for both of our immediate families to stay together for the duration of the weekend (and for our small dog as well). This spot was absolutely perfect. The interior decor is very tastefully done, and goes so well with the existing charm of the space. The artwork selection is fabulous, and there is so much attention to detail that you can't help but appreciate every nook and corner in this space. All of the rooms and bathrooms were very spacious, and the outdoor spaces (porch and back patio) were an added bonus. We held our intimate ceremony in the barn, which even without any added decor was a perfect backdrop for it. The barn has a sound system, a bar setup, bathroom, and loft (which we used as the groom's getting ready space), and it was absolutely perfect. The barn doors open to the street which along with the skylight provided wonderful natural lighting. We also held a post wedding brunch the day after in the barn. Tamara catered this brunch, and WOW, the food was incredible! The quiche, scones, pastries, salad, and everything that Tamara prepared was absolutely delicious, and our guests were all raving about the food. The brunch was also set up beautifully with very sweet labels and tiered displays. From the initial contact throughout the weekend of our wedding, Tamara was so kind, very accommodating, answered any and all questions, and made our wedding weekend even more spectacular. We are so happy that we found the Forsyth B&B, as it was the perfect setting for this special occasion. Many, many thanks! Highly recommend!

This is a two part review: 1. For the B&B stay, and 2. as an event space. I just stayed at the Forsyth for the third time after discovering this lovely place over two years ago. Every stay has been amazing - the charm of the inn, the cleanliness, and service are all top notch. It has become a fun place for us to go back to whenever we want to get out of the city. The food is absolutely delicious and Tamara and all of her staff are so kind, welcoming, and helpful. I have stayed in almost all of the rooms over the last few years and they are all so lovely and unique! 2. This last stay was the most special stay as we hosted a rehearsal dinner for our wedding weekend with 50 guests in the barn, and stayed for three nights. Although this event got postponed over a year because of COVID, Tamara was the easiest person to work with and helped us bring our vision for the day to life. The Forsyth feels like home, the event was seamless, and the food was of course delicious! Would absolutely recommend for a special event.
