We were disappointed in our hotel. We had read great reviews and splurged on this hotel. It was old. There was not an elevator for our 3 flights of stairs. We did not have any if the charming features we had read about online The room was clean but that is the best I can say we had to park 3 blocks away. We ate the continental breakfast which was ok. I would not recommend this place as it was very expensive and not charming.

If I could have given 3.5 stars, I would have. Really couldn’t bring myself to rate it a 4, but 3 seems low. Read previous reviews closely - wish I had and they are spot on. Beautiful hotel in terms of design. Stayed st pearl street location, which is a short walk from main hotel building. STAYING IN ROOM 203 IS LIKE SLEEPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAYTONA SPEEDWAY. THIN WINDOWS AND CARS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN BENEATH THE WINDOW ALL NIGHT AND DAY. Mufflers are definitely not big in Kingston, whereas noise-enhancing aftermarket additions to cars are very popular. Earplugs and white noise were inadequate to get a decent nights rest. Bed mattress is extremely hard as well, and mornings found me sore and tired. Furnishings of room are nice. Flat screen tv on an artists easel, nice old fireplace, beautiful bathroom. Minimal hot water for tub, which was main reason to book this room. Had to fill tub for 3 minutes, water would get cold, stop filling for 5’ to allow hot water build back up, fill for 3’. Took over 30’ to fill tub with hot water on all 3 days we stayed. Great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Breakfast was gross. Unripe fruit, stale bagels and pastries. Cold, strong and bitter coffee at main breakfast (was same as the coffee left at 41 pearl living room each morning). Minimal interaction with staff, who could best be described as indifferent. Small gym in basement of 41 pearl has two treadmills and a knockoff peloton (which one couldn’t use without an account).

This hotel is an excellent option if you plan to explore the Kingston area. However, it's crucial to examine their website closely when it comes to room selection. The fine print contains all the necessary details. The hotel's buildings have been meticulously restored to maintain their charm, and the common areas and the restaurant are fantastic. Additionally, the location is unbeatable, as you'll be within walking distance of great restaurants and shops and only 20 minutes away from many outdoor activities by car.

Great boutique hotel. We had a very comfortable stay in the Fair Street building which was walkable to the entire stockade district and to the main hotel building, one block away. We enjoyed attentive service from the front desk pre-, during, and post-check-in. It was an unexpected bonus to find ourselves directly next-door to Le Canard Enchaine.

Disappointed as we were really looking forward t staying here after paying $500 a night. We were sent to a different building several blocks away. Building felt soulless and empty. Room decor lovely but overlooked a parking lot next to a building with boarded up windows. No room service and no way to contact anyone during the night (desk is closed from 11PM - 8AM). We woke around 6 AM and waited two hours for coffee and pastries as promised on the documentation. At 8AM we checked outside our room in the communal alcove to just find a carafe of coffee with nothing to eat. Checked again a bit later and still nothing. We ended up splitting the one dry granola bar left in the room basket that we had to pay for and there was no water provided in the room to wash it down with. Note that upon checking in no info was given to us as to where we might get an early breakfast, or eat dinner or what to do if we needed anything. As another reviewer stated "WE FELT ABANDONED". After taxes the room came out to $500. Absolutely not worth the experience. Will not return. I wish we had stayed home.

We're so sorry you did not enjoy your stay. We're not sure why it was a surprise that you were sent to the building you reserved a room in. We try to make it clear on the homepage of our website that we are four separate buildings and the rooms are all specifically named for the building they are in, example Pearl St Grand King or Wall St Suite. We 100% agree that the work being done on the adjacent property is an eyesore. We've recently requested that they speed up their work or at least keep it more tidy. It also seems that there were some misunderstandings and failures to communicate some key information. The Front Desk is closed from 11pm-8am for walk-ins, check-ins or purchases from our retail selection, but there is always someone to answer calls and respond to guest needs. We mention this because the exterior door to the building is locked and our overnight person walks several rounds on the property. So while there might not be a staff member physically stationed at the desk, there is always someone on property and ready to answer requests. It should have been mentioned at the time of check-in, but also included in the in-room information sheet, that coffee is served in the Pearl St lobby starting at 7:30 and the continental breakfast at the same time in our Wall St location restaurant space. Water glasses are provided in every room and our tap water is filtered for drinking. Again, we are so sorry some of these key things were not communicated at check-in. An email was sent directly to you a week ago today. We hoped to discuss this with you but never heard back, so we decided to respond here. Kind regards, Team Kinsley

We loved the location and the design. However the room was way too hot. The bathroom felt like a sauna and made it hard to shower or sleep there. The front desk came to see for themselves and apologized. They told us it was fixed 3 times but the temperature never changed. One of the front desk staff said that they would comp a night but we were charged the full amount. With follow up emails they said they would credit but ignored requests for confirmation. The follow up became more frustrating than the issues with the room. We still have not heard from the hotel management. We loved staying in Kingston and the feel of the hotel but won’t go back at this point.

Best way to absorb the history of Kingston. I've been to the Hudson Valley dozens of times but this was my first time staying in Kingston proper so selected the Hotel for its location. Gold Stars for quality of the rooms, the various local touches (you'll see) and the cleanliness. It's spread out across a few historical buildings VERY near each other. The parking is behind 2 of the locations and within yards of the main hotel (not a problem whatsoever). Great staff/service in the restaurant as well (you should book there too). Locally Tortillas impressed me with their tacos. I had to remain in the area for a few hours after my check out time so needed a place to plug in with good WiFi. They have so many useful spaces to accommodate a digital nomad like me for guests to use which I thoroughly appreciated. Thank you Hotel Kinsley!

We were in the Pearl St. house. Lovely room and convenient parking. Good ventilation system and quiet. Common areas were useful and exercise room was well appointed. Would benefit from a bench. Very convenient to the Uptown area and the walk to the main Kingsley facility for breakfast was short and pleasant. Really good and easy breakfast arrangement.

I highly recommend this place. Do not believe what they say about the far parking and far sites of the hotel. Everything is 2 blocks radius. 0.02 mile. That's how far. Not 2 miles. The n Breakfast is not the oversized one but you get good staff and fresh. Rooms are super clean and everyone is ready to help. We love this place and definitely we will come back

Thank you so much for the kind review! Every now and then we're surprised by someone's reaction to the parking. It's less of a walk from most hotel or mall parking garages. We're so happy you could stay with us and can't wait to have you back! ❤️Team Kinsley

This is a very nice clean and comfortable hotel in a great central location for exploring the charming and historic town of Kingston. There are several different buildings at nearby addresses that make up the hotel but you must check-in at the "main" location which also has the restaurant so be prepared to walk a few blocks to get your morning coffee and included breakfast. We had beautiful weather so this was not an issue but I could see this being a drag under other conditions. After check-in we were directed to our building about three blocks away and given a parking pass. It was a bit odd once we got to the building - there was no staff there, we just let ourselves in the back door with our room key and shlepped our bags up a flight of stairs. There were some nice looking bicycles in the parking lot that might have been available for guests but since there was no-one around to inquire we didn't bother finding out what the deal was. There was also a cute small building in the parking lot that might have been a gift shop but it was dark and locked up while we were there. Again, something I would have asked about at the front desk if our building had one. The room itself was tastefully appointed in the modern minimal style you would expect from a newly renovated trendy boutique hotel. No complaints at all on the accommodations. The included breakfast was a nice selection of mini croissants, bagels, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. We helped ourselves to the buffet and found seats in the beautiful restaurant. Here again we felt kind of on our own as there was no staff attending the diners. One gusts asked us if we knew where the sugar was. Eventually someone from the front desk came in to replenish the sugar bowl. We had to find our own glasses in the bar area since there were none placed with the the silverware and plates. I wasn't sure if we were supposed to bus our own tables and didn't find an obvious place to put our plates so we left them on a nearby table. It just felt like when you're staying at a friends house and you wake up before them... I was not happy with the $25 destination fee. What is that? I looked through my reservation confirmation email where I found an explanation at the bottom stating the daily fee was for wifi, parking, breakfast, and the fitness center - all the things you would normally expect to be included except maybe the parking. I didn't know there was a fitness center since it wasn't mentioned to us and apparently was not located in our building. This semi-hidden fee left me with a negative impression, it's an unwelcome surprise. A mandatory daily fee should just be included in the quoted price - they're going to charge you whether you need a parking spot or not so what's up with that? The fee and lack of staff at the "satellite" buildings tarnished an otherwise very pleasant stay.
