The hotel is stale and old. Carpet and decor from the 80's. Chroline smell from the pool in the entire lake house. Room had AC that just rattled and the dorm room refrigerator did the same thing. Impossible to sleep. Just left and returned home. There are better hotels nearby.

This was our first time in Lake Placid which ended up being off-season (stayed mid-April). The hotel was located at an ideal location close to Mirror Lake and easy access to the shops and restaurants. The hotel and service: High Peaks Resort (during off-season) offered more quite time in the pool, cozy lounge with fireplace and hot chocolate and cookies, and game room over at Lake Resort. The room itself (with a King Bed and pull out couch) provided us a great mountainous view.

We're here now staying during what seems to be off peak, the resort is nice for the area but the service was so so, no refreshment upon arrival as advertised on their website for us, pool area was pretty old and pool had what looked like dirt or sand at the bottom. There were a ton of ants in the room in hallway and bathroom. Didn't complain until the problem seemed to get worse and they did say they'll change the room but we were heading out for dinner reservations so asked for them to spray. when we came back the ants in one area seemed to be gone but they were still in the bathroom. I asked for a late checkout and was told I'd have to wait for the AM because of housekeeping? Not sure why they can't just tell housekeeping to wait to clean our room. Relatively sure this place isn't sold out during the week given the low number of people here on the weekend. I barely made a stink about the BUGS in our room but annoyed they can't let the kids and I sleep in despite this. Picture are post them saying they sprayed something...hard to believe

I've stayed here several times over the years and never had a bad experience. This trip I stayed at The Lakehouse and I will say I do not care for the dark gray wall color but overall my room was clean and very spacious with great views of the Lake and town. The decor is fine but for a bit more $ I would choose the main building which is far nicer and well worth it. Staff is very friendly.

Excellent hotel!! We have been staying at the HPR for 30 years and have never been disappointed!!! The week AFTER President's week is the best! Rates are lower and the rooms are clean, lobby is cozy, and the food/bar at the Dancing Bears Lounge is as good as any other place in Lake Placid Also, it is convenient to Whiteface and all of the shops/attractions in Lake Placid We just left and can't wait to come back next year
