Arrived in Lake Placid to a nice welcome. A previous reviewer states disorganisation/untidy. Well, I see it as relaxed, homely and laid back. We were to share the home with fellow guests who, I suppose, we were very lucky to get along with well. We all sat around one big table for our breakfast which was great and we shared...

First impressions on arriving at Spruce Lodge does not bode well, having to search for the owner at the back of the property and being led through some disorganised and untidy private rooms to a so called reception area, where the internal boundaries of managment/guest seem confusing, The house clearly needs some TLC, to raise the standard above a reglected...

We stayed in the Adirondack Room, which had a rustic queen bed and bunk beds. The room was very clean and pleasant - but could use another chair, as there was only a single rocker to sit on. The bed was comfortable. Peaceful - but no a/c so nothing to drown out the noise if you open the window. Breakfast...

We had an upstairs room with an ensuite, in the main building. The room had a double and a single bed and was a good size as was the ensuite. It was decorated in an appealing country style and felt comfortable and cozy as soon as we walked in. A filling continental breakfast around a large country kitchen was great...

Stayed in Unit 9 in the Westcott townhouse during President's week. Absolutely beautiful! Very clean, nicely decorated, comfy beds and furniture. The townhouses are set back behind the B&B and away from the road, so there is little to no noise. Check in/out was a breeze, Carol was very nice and easy to deal with. Would definitely stay here again.

Price was great, $6 taxi ride to town or you can take the walk. If you are looking for a room to sleep, a downstairs living room to watch tv, and really comfortable bed, this is it. Locally owned and run with love. Must love lap cats because there are two.

We stayed at the Spruce Lodge B&B in July, 2010 while being on a biking trip. It is walkable distance to town, and despite the fact that the house is on a busy road, it is very quiet. The place is comfortable and clean, our room was very nice with an en-suite bathroom. The breakfast was OK; I have stayed...

Conveniently placed to walk into town, where there are lots of nice shops, restaurants to choose from. Beautiful scenery to view. We stayed for a couple of nights. Our room was clean, with en-suite bathroom. The bed was smaller than we had been used to in the US and a bit creaky which meant you woke up every time you...

We were driving through Lake Placid and decided to stay here on the spur of the moment. After staying in several soulless (and sometimes unclean) motels in New York state we were over the moon to find this place. As other people have mentioned the host is slightly brusque but we felt that this just added to the character of...

The townhouses here look fantastic although we didn't stay in them. We stayed in the main house and had the 'apartment'. It was functional and relatively clean although it could do with a refurb. The host didn't seem overly friendly at first but then seemed to become more approachable as our stay there went on. The breakfast was nothing to...
