This old hotel has passed its prime but it still serves as a clean and decent place to stay. Set back from the street on Saranac Ave it is in a quiet spot but still within easy walking distance of Main Street. Parking is in front of the hotel. Don't be fooled by the slight shabbiness of the stairs up... More

We are locals and stayed at The Pines for a date night. The owners are so kind and generous, and their Inn is a reflection of their beauty. The rooms and property in general have a B&B feel. We recommend this for anyone looking for no-nonsense lodging in LP. Would happily stay again!

This is a charming place to stay. The rooms were clean, bright and nice but simply furnished. The rates were very reasonable for the area and close enough to everything that we walked. The heat can be a bit wonky and a friend who has stayed before suggested cracking a window open instead of trying to adjust the heat if... More

This four story brick edifice with the huge porch has seen better days, I'm sure. I remember when it was the St. Moritz. Even back then it was not a high end property. The building is interesting with a walk-up stairway to your room if you are not on the first floor. I had a very brief stay and can't... More

Older hotel that was remodeled several years ago. Rooms are simple but comfortable. Very small flat screen television. Comfy memory foam mattress. No elevator, must use stairs. Very large lounge area with fireplace. Front desk closes at 9pm. No restaurant although one is advertised on the sign out front (Duncan's Grill). Short walk down the hill to Main Street where... Arrived prior to 3 to a hand written note left on front desk. The desk clerk was on an errand. Very dated and not well maintained. The jacuzzi was torn apart, partially filled with water. The steam room Broken with another hand written sign saying someone broke it. Well here's an idea-fix it! The room was clean I will give... More

Before my visit to Lake Placid, I checked out lots of places to stay. Some pricey, some not. I've been there often enough to see what I like and don't like. I can pass on the lap of luxury but want to feel comfortable and taste a bit of the past. The Pines Inn was my chosen home away from... More

Stayed here for one night on August 9. We had a comfortable stay in a room that contained a desk, fridge and an accent chair. The room décor was fresh and pleasant. All furniture and carpet was in good shape. The mattress on the bed was a tempurpedic (memory foam). The bathroom was clean and everything in good repair. This... More

The hotel is adequate in terms of comfort, with nice touches in some ways (memory foam beds - it beat an Intercontinental I have visited recently in bed quality) but outdated and quirky in some other ways. However the looks, the fact that the owners manage to keep it very quiet, the owner's willingness to open the German restaurant in... More

I'm amazed that the owners haven't acted upon the negative reviews that I've read here and on other travel sites. They would have more customers and would be able to charge more for their rooms. 1. Jill, one of the owners, needs an attitude adjustment. 2. An elevator for staff only in a 5-floor hotel? Really? No ADA accomodations? That... More
