The most charming and indulgent Bed and Breakfast I’ve yet to find. This review is long overdue as we had the pleasure of spending 2 nights here in October of 2021, when we came for a wedding. This location was a suggestion given by the bride. Doug the owner was there to greet us when we arrived and showed us to our cozy and well appointed room which included a beautiful modern bathtub which I could not wait to use. The bed was so comfortable and the room made me feel we had escaped into the French countryside.Snacks and drinks were well stocked as well as wonderful smelling soaps and body care items. The highlight was most definitely the gracious host Doug and his attention to our every need. His breakfasts were outstanding. From the savory sausage, to his delicious egg dishes prepared with love, to his wife’s amazing homemade muffins. All accompanied by Doug zooming in and out of the kitchen to make sure all was to our liking. He was the perfect host. I hope we can return one day!

Last minute planning for Memorial Day getaway was not easy. But we found online Hudson Valley Rose Bed & Breakfast right outside Middletown NY about 1 hour and half away from the city. A stone house built in 1847, hidden on a 60-acre land, has 3 rooms only with modern bathrooms. You could hear the floor screech a little. But a traditional style brings you right to the rural Upstate. Doug, the young owner, cooks delicious breakfasts, not continental American, not fries, nor usual omelet, something of his own careful and meticulous preparation.

The Hudson Valley Rose is a charming B&B run by Doug and his wife Jayce. We stayed in the cottage which is a delightful log cabin cottage. The surroundings are quiet and peaceful. The hosts are friendly and welcoming. Their aim is for you to experience a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Doug creates a wonderful 3 course breakfast in the mornings and offers helpful advice/suggestions on how to spend the day in the area. Highly recommend this gem.

My wife and I booked three nights at this amazing Bed & Breakfast for a baby moon. I really can’t say enough how much we loved our experience! From the moment we arrived Doug was so helpful and welcoming. The house and property were beautiful. The property is surrounded by beautiful stone walls and fences with fields of grass that look amazing in the early morning or evening light. There is a large back deck with lounge chairs, great for reading or enjoying some coffee (Doug prepared ice coffee and French press each morning, but there were also espresso machines at our disposal). It was so peaceful. We stayed in the Clarkson room on the third floor. The room was great, super comfy bed, awesome rainfall shower, and snacks / drinks in the room. The house itself is really cozy and the attention to detail is impressive. At nights after a day out we would relax in the living room. Plus super fast wifi Of course the highlight is the multi course breakfast. We couldn’t wait each morning to see what Doug would prepare, along with his wife’s baked goods. The breakfast was delicious each morning and really creative. We also really enjoyed the conversation with Doug, a really great way to start the day. The area is also really nice. A short drive to hiking trails, wineries, orchards and quaint towns. We really loved our experience and are looking forward to coming back, perhaps in the fall and to stay in the cabin.

I truly can’t say enough regarding the pleasure we had staying at Hudson Rose. Doug took care of us in a style that befitted royalty. His unassuming nature and attention to detail made for a memorable weekend that we hope to revisit in the not too distant future. The space is well appointed with historical touches, the grounds are majestic and the food delicious and filling. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom a delight. The only imperfection were a few spots where the beautiful wooden floors creaked. It felt charming to us but others may feel different. If so, you will be missing a true gem of a place.

There is no way to capture the overall experience that Doug + Jayce create at the Hudson Valley Rose. Doug insists on greeting his guests when they arrive and his gracious hospitality sets the stage for the entire stay. There is not a detail missed in this place, from amazing renovations that balance modern style with classic taste...to the array of snacks, coffee and drinks throughout the property. Doug's locally sourced but global menu at breakfast was one of many highlights but most importantly, his ability to connect guests and create an unforgettable experience is EXACTLY what the Bed and Breakfast journey is created for. This is worth going well out of one's way for a stay and would be stunning in the fall or winter too.

My partner and I had a relaxing and luxurious 3-night stay at this boutique, family-run bed and breakfast. As soon as we pulled into the long, scenic driveway surrounded by beautiful trees and fields I knew we were in a special place. We stayed in the lovely wood and stone cottage and enjoyed the comfortable King size bed, large copper bathtub, and the many thoughtful amenities and snacks. We loved starting our mornings with indulgent 3-course made to order breakfasts cooked by Doug and Jace. The meals were enhanced by engaging conversations with Doug, a very warm and personable host who treats his guests with great care and attention. Doug is very knowledgable and passionate about the surrounding area and he offered excellent recommendations for restaurants and day trips I can't recommend the Hudson Valley Rose Bed & Bread enough and look forward to returning as soon as possible!

My husband and I spent an absolutely wonderful 4-day weekend at Hudson Valley Rose B&B in early May. There are so many things to like about this place: the gorgeous property, the lovely house, the utterly delightful rooms (we stayed in the top floor Clarkson Room, which exceeded all expectations for both comfort and design), the proximity to quaint towns and good hiking. Perhaps best of all, though, was the first-class hospitality from Doug and Jace. Doug (whom we mainly interacted with) is a consummate host — welcoming, attentive, helpful, and engaging. Our long conversations with Doug (and, on one occasion, Jace as well) over breakfast were one of the highlights of our stay. Hudson Valley Rose is a very special property, run by people who clearly care about “getting it right.” We would recommend this charming B&B to anyone — in fact, we have already recommended it to several family members and friends — and hope to return sometime ourselves.

We desperately needed a change of scenery and had never been to the Hudson Valley. This was a bit of a drive for us for a weekend (5 hours with traffic from Cape Cod) but totally worth it. Next time I would just stay a couple days longer. From the minute we pulled down the gravel drive it was magical. (We noticed a deer off to the side in a field and then when we stopped to look at it we noticed its fawn was standing right next to our car!) From there we were treated to a lovely, beautifully decorated and thoughtfully cared for getaway experience. We stayed in the cottage with the cool copper tub (amazing!) and every detail in the space was carefully curated. There were snacks, a nespresso maching, drinks, wonderful robs & toiletries and a place to sit outside. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The flowers were blooming and the landscape around the property was lush and gorgeous. We have to give a special shout out to Doug the owner because his breakfasts were incredible 4 course affairs that were inspired and so delicious and plentiful. Because of a cancellation and their limited covid capacity, we somehow ended up being the only guests that weekend. We were able to chat with Doug in depth about their decision to buy the property and turn it into a b&b. And, we even got a tour of the other rooms. As an interior designer myself, I can honestly say that they did a fabulous job adding luxurious bathrooms to this home. And our copper tub was not the only tub worth booking a room for. (And I am actually not even a bath person). All the rooms were special and lovingly decorated. All in all we cannot say enough about this charming property and its dedicated interesting owners. You will not regret it!

To say our stay at the Hudson Valley Rose Bed & Breakfast was perfect is a understatement. Everything from the room, the breakfast, and area were stunning and perfect in every way. We stayed in the Clarkson Room which was laid out perfectly and the bed was amazing, the air jet bathtub and rain shower added a whole level of relaxation that was needed more then we even realized. Doug’s breakfast and Jace’s baking is enough to come back for, some of the best breakfast we have ever had. They were also very accommodating with any dietary restrictions or preferences, they were able to prepare us a meatless option along with the traditional meal that included meat both were absolutely delicious. With this stay being our first of hopefully many B&B stays, Doug and Jace have definitely set a very high bar. We look forward to coming back! N&J
