Where do I start? We were looking forward to our stay at Mhondoro for over a year and had very high expectations. We stayed there with our family of 3 couples and all absolutely loved it! It was even better than we all imagined! You get such a warm and personal welcome from staff, not only when you arrive but...

What a fantastic place to stay. Beste service, rooms/small vila and breakfast/lunch/diner imaginable combined with watching the wildlife come by, graze and drink at touching distance. More then plenty of game in the relatively small game reserve

There are hardly words to describe the perfection that Mhondoro is. We could not have asked for a better honeymoon destination than this fantastic lodge. Great service, the kindest staff, georgious rooms, amazing safaris, great coffee and last but not least the most wonderful food that we ever had in Southern Africa: it's like eating in a Michelin star restaurant...

My husband and I had the privilege of staying at this lodge at the end of October. We were warmly welcomed by Phineas our ranger at the entrance to the Welgevonden Game Reserve. Our suite was very well appointed and we had great views from the deck. The game viewing was really great... we saw lion on our first game...

Dear Diane, Thank you very much for your review. We are very pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay so much! The hide is definitely a unique feature at Mhondoro as it can be visited anytime, day and night. As you also mentioned the animals are seen in an undisturbed manner doing what they usually would do. The water...

The famous Welgevonden Game Reserve is part of the Limpopo Waterberg Biosphere, one of the two savannah biospheres in the world, Tanzania being the other one. So, expectations are high when we enter the park, leave our vehicle behind and are transferred to the lodge by a game drive vehicle. The 45 minutes being a game drive on its own....

Dear Marjolein, Thank you very much for this wonderful and very thorough review of Mhondoro Game Lodge. We would agree that your stay was to short however there is always time to return and enjoy the experience for longer. The Elephant herds have been visiting the Lodge and pool almost on a daily basis. Two large females have also given...

The Mhondoro game lodge is such a very special place, that we hardly find the words to share our impressions. We will not write about how beautiful the place it is, just have a look at the photos, and be aware that it looks even better in live. What we want to write about shortly is the more than warm...

First class all round. The reserve is very large and although there are several other lodges on it you can drive for hours without seeing many other game viewers whilst still seeing plenty of game. The accommodation is very well set out with individual large new thatched cottages, well appointed and with great views over the reserve. The main lodge...

Dear Graeme, Thank you very much for your review. We appreciate your comments and we are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us so much. The low vehicle density of the reserve does provide the opportunity that no other game vehicles can be seen on occasion. It is definitely true that hours can go by without seeing any other...

Mhondoro Game Lodge is a luxury 5-star accommodation in Welgevonden Game Reserve, a malaria-free and Big 5 game reserve in Limpopo, South Africa. Its main lodge and private villa have recently been rebuilt and the interior of its suites have been refurbished, offering a tasteful mix of African chic and contemporary design. The luxurious, child-friendly lodge has quickly become famous for its new underground waterhole hide, connected to the main lodge by a tunnel, offering an easy, safe and above all unique opportunity to be amongst the animals drinking at the waterhole in front of the lodge. Mhondoro is the only 5-star safari lodge that has this feature. Mhondoro is family friendly yet private and quiet to accommodate small groups to relax and explore the abundantly present wildlife during game drives. For those who prefer to indulge in ultimate relaxation or work up some sweat, the spa and gym are at your disposal, including a team of qualified and experienced beauty therapists. The pool, sauna, bar and lounge are available for all guests during the whole day. Mhondoro is located a 2 hour and 45 minutes' drive from O.R. Tambo International Airport, making it the perfect safari destination for those who arrive in South Africa in Johannesburg.
