A stunning hotel with fantastic rooms at very reasonable prices. The beach was gorgeous, well maintained with security guards and plenty of sun loungers. Although the bar and restaurant were very reasonably priced, the service was extremely slow so we often went to other hotels next door to eat (Kendwa Rocks & Essence).

Dear Penny S, Thank you for your nice review and for having chosen Sunset Bungalows. As for the service we are improving our quality offering more training on a daily basis to our staff which is chosen directly among "The Tourism and Hospitality college" in Dar es Salaam.

The good: the beach is really beautiful, the food is not bad and reasonably priced, and I enjoyed the accommodations. Our room was spacious with AC, good bathroom, good fan. The bad: Probably the most annoying thing was all the parasitic fly-catchers that scavenge the beach, trying to get you to buy their cheap goods/travel excursions/whathaveyou. One guy tried to...

Hi SmokyJoe2114, Thank you for reviewing Sunset Bungalows. At the moment being, we are investing in internal training on our guards on how to behave with non customers and fly-catchers. Our restaurant and bar staff comes from "The tourism and Hospitality college in Dar es Salaam" and we are improving our service offering more training on a daily basis. As...

I have been visiting this hotel many times when I am in Zanzibar and I enjoyed a lot their Friday parties. Yesterday I realized that the management of this place changed and they introduced racist rules. It was only allowed to enter the party when you are a foreigner. My husband and his aunt from Dar were not allowed to...

The service at reception and the restaurant was excellent, you can tell they read all the reviews and do their best to improve. The location is great, maybe the best beach on the island for swimming and snorkeling. The snorkeling might have been better at Mnemba, but we were delighted with all that we saw right out front. The snorkel...

I stayed here at first with my tour group and then had two nights on my own. The room I had first was far from the beach and definitely not a 'beach bungalow'. I had to walk up a huge staircase to get there. Once my tour group left I was upgraded to the beach rooms and this was much...

Room was great, location couldn't be any better, prices reasonable. Drinks on the beach can't be beaten. Breakfast is pretty mediocre, other food OK but surpassed by nearby Kendwa Rocks. The 'Party' on friday night was entertaining but marred by one aggressive, coke-addled local - they clearly knew who he was (he was barred from everywhere) but no-where has any...

Hi Tom S, Thank you for your review. We have just revised our food menu and right now we are even offering more cocktail choice. Our security is undergoing an internal training on how to deal with non customers and people external to hotel staff. We look forward to welcome you in order to see our improvements.

We stayed for three nights last week. The location of the hotel could not be any better - a wonderful beach just in front of the hotel and a more natural/local touch than the hotels around. There were a few troubles during our stay: The waiters' English was very basic so they hardly ever got our preferences right (e.g. salad...

We stayed with a group recently. The rooms were fantastic- very clean and comfortable, also very close to the beach. The beds were huge and very comfortable. The bar/restaurant however had the worst service I have ever seen. The food was great when it eventually came out but it took nearly 2 hours for food to arrive on more than...

We rented a bungalow on Kendwa Beach for 3 nights. The volley ball court on the beach is nice, the bar has some good drinks on the menu (although sometimes late at night it runs out of alcohol?) and the WiFi works occasionally, if not then the neighbouring hotel has a better one. The Sunset Bungalows are spacious, have a...

It was amazing. It really was for me. And it would be for you. But you should know one thing: you must forget about any comfort default of your previous Turkey, Egypt and Dubai experience - and if you do it, you will definetly enjoy your stay in Tanzania. If you will keep being keen on some must-bes - you...
