The previous reviewers have said it all - this is an exceptional B&B with wonderful hosts. Andrea and Barbara make it a very special place. Andrea puts enormous effort into providing travel advice each morning, adding far more local insight than provided by our travel books. Barbara is an outstanding cook. She is very responsive to the most demanding dietary...

4 days at this exceptional Chambres et Table d'hôtes in Montfort, mid November, 2011 and we can't say enough about it. The entire experience at l'Ombrière was top notch.....the house, the room and views, the food and the host/hostess. Barbara and Andrea truly went out of their way to ensure that our visit was excellent. As busy as they are...

We stayed at this wonderful B&B on our trip from Australia, in May 2011 and loved every minute. The accommodation was very comfortable with nothing lacking. What a beautiful position overlooking the walnut trees below. A very peaceful stay close to all the main sites around. The highlight of our stay was getting to know the lovely Barbara and Andrea,...

At first I wasn't going to submit a review of l'Ombrière because it's all been said so many times before. But then I decided they deserved as many good reviews as we guests are willing to write. We spent a week at l'Ombrière in September and were sorry to leave at the end of it. Everything about the place is...

Stayed a week at hosts Andrea and Barbara's B & B in Montford near Sarlat. So happy we stayed here instead of Sarlat. Lovely french countryside, winding river, fabulous food, walnut tree orchard, the castles, lavender. The most memorable part was the kindness shown by the hosts to direct us to the highlights of the region. Their home was everything...

Loved our 2 night stay at L'Ombriere. Hosts were most gracious; room was modern, clean & charming as was the rest of the house. Quiet location in Montford - small village not far from Sarlat. Wish we could have stayed longer!

A warm welcome was given to us by Andrea and Barbara who run this charming Chambre d'hotes. As you enter the house, classical music is quietly playing, bringing with it a sense of calm. The house has been beautifully refurbished by Andrea and Barbara who have kept the character of the house (plenty of beams and old features) whilst incorporating...

This B&B, located in a rural but central region of the Perigord Noir, is an absolute gem. We were in an 18th century stone house in the tiny hamlet of Montfort, which is no more than 30 to 60 minutes away from anything that you would want to visit. The furnishings and decorations are in extremely good taste, but not...

We stayed at L'Ombriere in late June. It was really only supposed to be a transit stop, but it is the most wonderful place to stay and it was one of the highlights of our holiday in France. The location is very quiet, with a stunning view of Montfort castle from the bottom of the garden, and only a few...

Just returned from a trip to Dordogne and stayed three nights at L'ombriere. It fully lived up to all the previous reports, location, facilities, hosts, breakfasts etc. Highly recommended

“Our room was the largest, on the top floor, and it was absolutely beautiful. If you are tall you need to be aware of the sloping ceilings, but you get used to pretty quickly and I wouldn’t not get this room for that reason.”
