I must admit that I was not nearly as thrilled with the hotel as I was with the restaurant, although it had its up points as well as its downs. First of all, many of the “down” points were probably only due to my status as a senior citizen, so those may not even apply to most people. The hotel room itself (the “Natural Mystic Suite”) was very attractive. It’s clear that whoever decorated the place had an artist’s eye, as the furnishings, wall hangings, furniture and wall colors were very nicely done. The problems I had with the actual hotel started with the entry itself. It was through a narrow door and then up a VERY steep flight of 18 stairs, some of which became irregular at the top. For a senior to have to lug a suitcase and other items up a flight of stairs that steep is a recipe for disaster, and not recommended. Once I got up to the room, I noticed that there was no stand on which to place my suitcase. Having an artificial hip, I didn’t want to put it on the floor as bending is a bit of an issue. I mentioned getting something to the owner downstairs, and he said I could use “the bench” in the room for my suitcase. There was no bench in my room. I ended up using the night stand after moving the lamp and other stuff to the floor. There was a television and two different remotes in the room, but I could not figure out how to use them. I turned the set on, fiddled with the cable box down below, and tried everything else, but could not get anything on the screen, so I gave up on that too. Other quirks came up during my stay as well. For example, there was no desk in the room, so I cleared all the stuff of a chest of drawers and used my laptop on that. Not comfortable, but it worked. Then, a little after 7:00 AM, the power went out in the entire room. It didn’t stay out for long, just enough to be inconvenient. When I went in to take a shower, I turned the hot water knob up all the way, and got water that was barely lukewarm. It was warm enough to take a shower, but certainly not hot. (To be completely honest, it did turn hot at about the ten-minute point, just as I was getting ready to get out of the shower.) One other thing to know about this hotel; the hallways are not carpeted, but wood, and the walls are straight and also wood/plaster. Because of this, any noise in the hallway echoes down the hall and sounds very loud, so it can awaken you during the evening if anyone comes or goes. Also, be aware if you stay here, do not oversleep. As a fellow working on the floor last night informed me, the checkout time is 10:00 AM, versus the normal noon or 11:00 AM, so be up on time! In summary, the rooms in this place are very pretty, and I would have enjoyed staying here when I was younger. I really didn’t mind it this time, although I will probably head towards something more geared towards seniors on my next visit to Northville.…
A great place for a steak salad. The shrimp cocktail is worth traveling for, the other dishes I've tried are ok. The dinning room atmosphere is lacking. I would go just for the shrimp cocktail and a drink.
The Inn has a ton of character, wonderful bar and restaurant and great food. Our room was clean and comfortable and reasonably priced for an area where there is not a lot of choice. My wife broke the shower head (long story) so I left the broken part out so that a repair could be made. When we returned that evening, no repair. I informed the innkeeper he explained that they do not enter a guests room unless requested(it's on the bulletin board). He went straight to the room and fixed the shower while we had a drink. we would go back in a heart beat.
We have a second home on the GSL for some years now and never realized what an outstanding restaurant the Timeless Tarvern is. We would walk by it in town thinking it was just a local bar. A friend told us about it so we gave it a try. Food, serve, staff were great.
Food was superb. Bottom line. Nice setting in town, ice cream stand next door etc... Went to free confer on park behind the restaurant beforehand which was nice... A little disappointed in that the server/staff didn't really clean the table of the dirty plates and brought out desert with the dinner plates still on the table... But over all it was a fabulous dinner with quality wine selections... Second year in a row in Northville and will go back again next year for sure.
Went to the Adirondacks for a nice getaway and asked a local for a place to have drinks and get something to eat and was told this was a great place. Sure enough, it was the best place we ate on our entire vacation. Great food specials every day and even the salad dressing are homemade. Highly recommend if you are ever in Northville to stop in and eat! Absolutely awesome! Hours are 4-8 everyday.
Girlfriend and I were just passing through town on a motorcycle ride and happened upon this gem of a Tavern & Inn. Great room in the heart of town; very clean and well apportioned; great value & awesome hospitality, from Tom & his staff. We will come back and stay again. Designed a new Margherita w Tom. Start w basic delicious ingredients then add muddled jalapeños and Gran Marnier for a delicious slightly sweet and spicy drink. It should be called "The Timeless Traveller"
We stayed at the Timeless Tavern & Inn for the weekend. The best part was the restaurant. Great food and reasonable prices. Their card card machine was not working that night but they did warn us before we were seated. Not so good was the inn part. I have never stayed in a place where the bed was not made, garbage was not emptied and no clean towels. Although the room was spotless it looked like it was built by someone with no carpentry skills. The doors were not hung correctly and did not close. For $95 a night very expensive for what we receieved.
Beautiful casual dining room, friendly knowledgeable waitstaff, and delicious food! Fried cheese appetizer and seafood chowder started our meal off to a great start. Blackened chicken and haddock special completed our meals. Absolutely delicious! We will visit again on a Friday for prime rib special...
This restaurant has some very good food and some not so good food. The service was good, although our waitress may have been new and was not as knowledgable on her menu as she could have been. She was very nice and attentive to our needs. Our meals were hot and the portions were large. I'd stay away from the italian dishes as the sauce was tasteless. The eggplant parmesan was burnt on top, and the portion was mammoth. The meatballs were nothing special, but the chicken marsala and spicy mussels dish were very good. The menu was very extensive and there were lots of specials. I would try this place again. The prices were quite reasonable considering the portions were large. Overall, this place is okay. I have had better and i have had worse. It is worth a try if you are nearby and hungry.…
