I always look forward to time in winter wonder at Lapland Lake. There is nothing better than spending time on their wonderful ski trails and then snuggling up in the cabin by the fire. The hosts go out of their way to make your stay perfect.
We were 2 couples with limited XC ski experiences. Lapland was a wonderful place to practice and enjoy for us and all levels ! Staff and other guests were friendly and welcoming. The lodge was a gathering place where we got a great restaurant recommendation in near by Northville called “The Local”which was great. We will be back
We loved our weekend stay at Lapland Lake! Five highlights: 1. Trails First time cross-country skiers driving up from New York City, we found the trails stunning for both cross-country skiing and snowshoe hiking. Well-marked and groomed, beautiful Nature all around! 2. Lessons Highly recommend taking private ski lessons, Tom and Richard were excellent, patient, jovial instructors. 3. Cozy, Clean Cabins Cabins are simple, serene, and immaculate. We stayed in the cozy Fox Den which as other reviewers note have steps down and a walk through a larger upstairs dinning kitchen area currently being used for storage. We didn’t find either an issue and loved the propane fireplace which made everything warm and cozy. 4. Meals The dinner meal service offered was delicious and convenient. Also the fully-stocked cookwear/utensils cabin kitchens made brining our own breakfast/lunch food easy. You could easily cook a full proper meal (but we cheated and got prepared meals!). 5. Staff/Team Everyone was so welcoming, helpful, friendly and kind. It felt like going to family home. They made check-in, ski rental/return, food, and other bits easy and quick. Highly recommend!…
We stayed with friends in the Tunturi cabin and had a fantastic time. The staff was all very helpful, knowledgable, and friendly. They were eager to make our stay as fun and comfortable as possible. The store was small but well stocked. Ski, snowshoe, and tubing rentals are available, and there is a service shop as well offering waxing and repairs on-site. I bought a nice pair of boots ne my friend got a set of skis, boots, and poles. We visited during a weekend with little snow but the staff made the best of the weather and we enjoyed some nice skiing. Our cabin was comfortable, and wood for the stove was replenished daily. The evening campfire was fun, too. We had a great time and can’t wait to go back!
We have not been to Lapland Lake for 7 years, after moving further south. Our return was wonderful, we rented a cabin for three-nights, warm, cozy and super great to be right on the trails. Loved the skiing!
We had a wonderful four days of x country skiing and snowshoeing. The trails are beautiful and clearly marked. We highly recommend you do both so you can really get a sense of the beautiful woods - make sure to go to both East and West sides. The staff is so welcoming and friendly. We had a great ski lesson with Laurie. Our accommodations (we stayed in Fox Den studio) were cozy and perfectly situated. Everything was just as we'd hoped for! We look forward to visiting again and in different seasons. This place is a gem!
My wife and I went to Lapland Lake on 12-22-2022. It was a perfect day with blue skies and sunshine. Some of the expert trails weren't open yet, but what was open was wonderfull. The snow was packed powder as advertised and perfect for classic skiing. The snow was still heacy on the trees as the area is protected from the wind.
We rented one of the studio cabins for 2 nights. Very clean, beautiful view, well-heated, well-appointed kitchen, and the shortest walks both to the lodge and ski trails. The lodge had light lunch fare and great baked goods (the scones!). Lots of good gear in the shop, waxing services or facilities to do your own. Super friendly and helpful staff. A wood-fired sauna which was AMAZING, make sure that you don't miss the hour it's open for each gender in the later afternoon/early evening! We definitely lucked out with the snow and general weather, but there was also obviously a lot of continuous work going into the grooming, removing fallen trees, etc. Wide variety of skate and classic grooming, I'd guess that you'd be able to find something fun to ski as long as there's snow - also snowshoeing, tubing, etc. We brought our own gear but there was plenty to rent. I loved it so much that I want to come back in the summer to check out the warm weather activities.…
Several members of my family and I have stayed at Lapland Lake for many years in a row. It is so charming. The cabins are very comfortable and cozy and very well appointed. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful. Go!
Paul and Kathy are great hosts! Owls Nest was even better than expected. Cuisinart and Calphalon in the well equipped kitchen. Comfortable bed, new bath and quite roomy. Firewood, kindling and tinder replenished every day. Watched deer from our dining window most evenings. Loved that there was no cell service or TV so we could get away from it all. Beautiful lake and plenty of boats, canoes, Kayaks available. Very comfortable beach chairs and the water cooler at the lake was a nice touch. The only downside was that the towels were pretty flimsy and that the lake is a 1/2 mile walk. They did tell us about this in the welcome letter we received a few days before arriving. When we were concerned that an ankle injury may make the walk to the lake a problem. Kathy immediately offered a driving pass to accommodate us. Fortunately the walk was easy and the wagons you can rent worked fine. The care they take in maintaining the Tupas is clear and they take their customer service seriously We were concerned…
