The Orendaga is in a delightful setting in the foothills of the Adirondack mountains. It is a short and scenic walk to the picturesque small town Main Street in the Village of Northville. We stayed in the Heron Suite and could enjoy sitting on the porch or walking a few steps to view sunset on the lake.
The suite was spotlessly clean, comfortable and filled with amenities. The welcoming hosts were always available to answer questions.

We were excited to arrive and when we got there we walked in to a cabin that smelled amazing, So clean and it was just a beautiful weekend (Indian summers are the best!) The property manager cinda met us to make sure everything was to our liking. She was so helpful and pleasant she checked on us each day to make sure we had everything we could want or need. The lake was calm and beautiful sitting by the fire we relaxed every night and had a glass of wine. We will be back next year we found our new favorite spot on the lake!

We stayed here for two nights for my birthday. The rooms were beautiful and the cabin was tastefully decorated. They provide organic coffee and handmade soaps. We were rigtht on the water and there were boats to use. Warning: you have to walk through lots of muck before swimming. The price was the biggest negative. We chose the Orendaga cabin which sleeps 5 and costs 200 a night. Warning: this price is for two people only! You have to pay an extra 25.00 per person per night. We arrived before check-in and when we asked if we could use the beach before checking in we were told no. Beautiful but pricey!

We have stayed at the cabins under previous management and there was no additional cleaning fee. Property is now under new management and were charged an $85 cleaning fee. When I questioned the additional charge I was told to see the website and that "this is how we operate the Orendaga". I was told that they have spent alot of money making improvements but did not see any changes from our previous stay other than the landscaping was overgrown. I do not have an issue with a cleaning fee being charged if it had been disclosed in the confirmation email.

There are a very few places where the connection outweighs the tangible; where emotional comfort outweighs the physical surroundings. This is just such a place.

There is not one facet that creates the simple calmness; rather in its totality it surrounds one with a sense of family fabric even with strangers.

This place is a passionate work for a young couple, filled with the optimism of youth and a connection with all that is or was good. He works fixing it up, she throws pots and tends to the herb garden which is open to all. There is a lake and swimming area, boats and memories just within reach. You can close your eyes and hear the sounds of children intertwined with the wind in the trees. You are reminded of those things that are important

You are drawn into this, wanting for this grand experiment to succeed. And you wish somehow that in your youth you had the courage to create such a place.

Stayed in the Orendaga cabin four nights. We arrived on Monday afternoon and were initially very happy. The cabin was clean and spacious. After settling in we located to the screened porch. The property is located very near the main thoroughfare with a steep hill. The road noise was horrendous with logging trucks, motorcycles, pickups with loud/no mufflers and general traffic. It finally quieted down about 9:30pm. The rest of the week wasn't quite as noisy, but it was always something: lawn mowers, chain saws, weed wackers and two small children in the house next door about 50ft away. Had to ask for toilet paper and soap the second day as there was no one around the day of check in. Kayaks/rowboats very heavy and no one usually around to ask for permission to use. No swimming allowed. No pottery/art for purchase as advertised. Property near cabin was messy with lots of dead brush/trees on the ground. We did not use the fire pit as there was no one to ask. We were looking for the quiet Adirondack experience...but didn't find it here. Maybe a different time of year would be quieter.

Just spent 3 nights in the Bluebird Cabin at the Orendaga. Really enjoyed our stay! The cabin has a few quirks, primarily the WIFI, which is only available sometimes on the front porch. It's strongest at the main house, but we worked around it. The upstairs loft bedroom is reached by a metal spiral staircase that children would love but older adults not so much! However, this is a great place for a quiet getaway near a charming town. Also it's a great value for lodging near Saratoga Springs this time of year.

The setting on the lake is really lovely. The cabin was very comfortable and spacious. The front porch had nice seating and a pretty view. There were chairs scattered on the lawn closer to the water that were also nice. We weren't there when it was warm enough to swim altho there is easy access to the water.

We stayed in suite 1. Rooms new and nice. By a nice lake with free kayaks and row boat. Nice people. A little noisy. On one hand I could appreciate the cicadas to the right but heard all the traffic to the left, as room 1 is near the road. And there is an art studio and people park by room 1. So a lot of opening and closing car doors, and a lot of chit chat. I'd stay in the cabins away from the main road.

We stayed in unit 1 - the Blue Heron suite. Very nicely done room. Carpentry skills by the owners were outstanding. Nice comfortable room with a separate kitchen and a nice location.
The only downside was a bathroom sink that was very narrow - I'm a big guy and I couldn't fit between the two walls when I stood at the sink without both arms touching the walls. And the shower was very small as well. But these shouldn't stop you from staying here. I would definitely stay here again!
