We were visiting family in Nanuet and this was a quick trip. Family was staying at a competitor hotel in Nanuet. In fact we met them at their hotel. Form what I saw, the competing hotel was a bit more concerned regarding Covid protocols. Signs were posted on the elevators limiting to two people, the room doors were sealed once cleaned. Neither of these steps were taken at the Marriott.
We checking in online in the Bonvoy app and were told we would get an upgrade. When we arrived at the hotel, we were told no upgrades were available. (Perhaps because we had used a free room.
We were given a room at the back of the hotel which is in close proximity to railroad tracks. The trains pass throughout the night sometimes blaring their horn. (Pro Tip: ask for room in front of hotel)
We had a studio, which had a single cup Keurig, microwave, full size fridge and a two burner stove. We were short one coffee mug for morning coffee, so planning ahead thought we would ask for a cup when we returned from dinner. We stopped at the front desk at 8pm and waited for 10 minutes and no one came to the desk to help us. Leslie, (maintenance) noticed us standing at the desk and found us a cup. It is a little concerning that no one was manning the desk for over 10 minutes.
Overall, the room was very good. Location is good with a stop and shop next door for those staying longer.
We will stay again. Just remember ask for a front facing room.

So I noticed a lot of negative reviews on here and I wanted to clear some of that air. I usually never post reviews but I felt it necessary now.I've stayed here many times since my sister lives nearby in New City. This was the first time I stayed after Covid. I seriously have no complaints and don't understand most of the recent bad reviews that I read on here. I understand that the hotel had to change many things to follow NY State Safety Guidelines, they didn't just make these changes to purposely annoy their guests. I've always been a big fan of the hot breakfast buffet but due to Covid now they only serve a To Go Bag which includes choices of a tiny English muffin breakfast sandwich, a small carton of Tropicana orange juice, chocolate or corn muffin and yogurt that you ask the front desk attendant for. I didn't mind the poor breakfast selection cause there's a Stop & Shop right next door, if you can afford to stay at the hotel you can afford to buy food and the room has a stove top to cook. Also it's very understandable that there is no daily housekeeping, they have to stay safe as well. At least you can request extra items at the front desk, it's not like they won't give it to you, you just have to go and request it. When I arrived to do my check in there was a couple ahead of me giving the front desk guy a very hard time and that was so uncalled for. He didn't want to give his I.D. or any of his information and was doubting that the hotel was really part of the Marriott brand. I have to give props to the front desk guy for his patience at handling people like that, I've worked with the public for years and it's not easy. I can't really give the hotel a low rating because of the inconveniences or changes because again it's not their fault, they're just complying with NY State Safety Regulations, if anything I would complain if I noticed that they didn't follow those guidelines. We're all in these tough times together and we have to start by ourselves when it comes to keeping safe and avoiding the spread.

Don't let the exterior photos fool you, this RI has been beautifully renovated inside. The rooms are upscale and modern, and the windows have been double insulated to prevent any noise from the Palisades Parkway nearby.

Right next to a supermarket, so very easy to get supplies.

For runners, go behind the market - run past the back of Lowes and you jump right on a really beautiful, well paved running trail that goes on for miles.

One of the best renovations of a Residence Inn (and I stay in alot of them!)

On our recent visit to the Residence Inn at Orangeburg, N.Y. we were unpleasantly surprised. We are Bonvoy members but were denied our welcome snack and beverage due to COVID-19. We were given the option to be handed food for breakfast so why not continue the arrival amenties? I'll tell you why...to save Marriott money. Speaking of breakfast, there is no hot buffet breakfast due to the pandemic. You can now have a pre-wrapped store bought pastry, juice and snack bar...that's it. No fresh juice or coffee. You're told to make your own coffee in your room. Speaking of your room, there is no clock radio anymore and no daily housekeeping. You can request housekeeping items if you need something. None of these specific changes are posted on the hotel website and we weren't advised of them when we called to confirm our reservation. To add insult to injury, you pay the same price for your accomodations without some amenities and a hot breakfast. We were also told that if we wanted something to snack on, go the alcove area where there are items for purchase.

Dear Guest, We apologize for the lack of amenities being offered at the property during these very crazy times. Unfortunately we must follow these very strict guidelines but hope soon we will be able to serve breakfast again and provide all the amenities our guests have grown to love. We feel badly we let you down and hope we can make this up to you with better service in the very near future. We very much appreciate the feedback and thank you for taking the time to help us be better. Sincerely, The Customer Service Team Residence Inn Orangeburg

My family and I stayed here for one night, thank goodness it was only for one night. We were looking forward to this night away since it's been months since we went anywhere due to the pandemic and this residence inn had great reviews. We arrived after 5pm and were told our room wasn't ready and it would still be at least 30 minutes until we can check in. Ok, we come back an hour later to check in. There was really no welcome, at every other Marriott hotel I've stayed at, they always say thank you for being a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member. Plus I had to ask questions that should have already been answered such as, what is the wifi password? what are our breakfast options since you do no longer offer a hot breakfast buffet? I asked what's the latest time we can check out expecting we could be granted a late check out since we are Bonvoy members plus we were not allowed to check in till 6pm. Nope, 12pm was the latest.
We arrived in our room, the dishwasher was on and it was leaking. The kitchen cabinet handles were dirty, there were items left from the previous guests. There was no paper towels, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper and linens for the pull out sofa. Thank goodness I brought my own disinfectant wipes and wiped everything down. It took forever for someone to answer housekeeping or the front desk. We left for dinner and I expected someone to come and check the dishwasher and clean up the leak, but that didn't happen. We ended up having to retrieve the missing items ourselves since it was already late and my kids were tired and wanted to sleep on the sofa bed and we ran out of toilet paper. The next morning we find out the hair dryer doesn't work. When we checked out the front desk associate asked how our stay was, I listed all our complaints and he was very apologetic and offered us bonus points. I appreciated that and hope I do see these points credited on my account. I know times are tough but way too many basic needs were not met, especially with the kitchen not being cleaned thoroughly.

This is our second and final stay at this Residence Inn. We regularly use Residence Inns and know what to expect. What was delivered here is not up to the usual standard. Perhaps Covid arrangements are responsible to some degree, but if that’s the case no one told us so.

The good:
—An excellent physical plant that’s new and clean and sparkles
—Nicely appointed room where most everything worked—lighting, fridge, stove, microwave, TV, Internet, streaming video
—Well located
—Very good parking
—Proper rolling luggage carts—the big ones we like
—The room was very clean
—Our room was ready at 4 pm
—Good sound insulation between rooms, and room and hall

The bad:
—A distinctly unenthusiastic greeting at the front desk
—The reservation was for two people, but only one entry card was offered, but a second was produced upon request
—No explanation of the property, amenities, or anything else
—No bedside clock (or other clock) in the room
—No Kleenex in the room (empty stainless box)
—Linens in a sealed plastic bag on the bed rather than hung in bathroom
—A single small saucepan was the only pan
—They could not manage find us a frying pan after we requested one
—No ice machines and no offer to provide ice (but they did provide ice upon request)
—No dishwasher detergent
—Less than a half-roll of toilet paper with no spare roll

Did we hit this property on a bad day? Can it be blamed on Covid, in full or in part? Why is this property below the standard of other Residence Inns where we’ve stayed?

As a lifelong manager, the answer is pretty simple to me: poor and uncaring management. Maybe Covid burnout is playing a role.

If this were my property and I received a review like this, I’d think on it for a day or two then call a meeting of my senior staff to get things moving in the right direction. And I’d provide the review to everyone on staff and ask for ideas on why we’re not measuring up.

With the right management, this property can shine.

Are you listening, Marriott?

As this my first visit to a hotel since the pandemic I was unsure what to expect. I had stayed at this location in the past, and I realized things would be slightly different. I was not traveling for vacation, only for required medical appointments. However I was somewhat disappointed. They had removed high touch items from the rooms, such as pens and notepads, but they could have placed a new set for each guest. There was no extra bedding or extra towels in the room. This had to be requested. There was not even an extra roll of toilet paper or paper towels. This also had to be requested. FYI the hotel was undergoing some remodeling so the smell of whatever the workers were using was quite noticeable in some areas of the hotel.

Beware of this hotel even if you request a room away from the railroad tracks they will put you on the railroad tracks I asked to move but they said the hotel was full which was not true at all the parking lot was empty on a weekday. My marriott profile also requests rooms on the top floor so you don't hear people walking obviously, this hotel doesn’t look at your Marriott profile. They also don't care about Marriotts loyal customers they run this hotel like a budget hotel. The workout area is dirty my shower soap dispenser was broken so I had no soap to shower I called down and they only have one person working so they can't bring the soap up. I have never in my 1500 nights in a Marriott experienced anything like this hotel. Good luck getting a good night sleep at this hotel.

Pros: The room was clean, bed was comfortable, & shower had good water pressure

Cons:
1. the AC/heating vent was so loud I had to keep it turned off to sleep. Which meant it got hot in the room.
2. There were no washcloths in the bathroom & when we went to the front desk & asked for a couple they said they’d send someone up. No one ever came.
3. No ice in the freezer in the kitchenette & no ice machines. We had to go to the front desk & ask for ice
4. No USB C connections for charging phones & other electronics.

We recently stayed here as we were moving out of NY and needed a place as our house was on the road. If you stay you should bring your own towel and wash cloths as they didn’t even have enough in the room for the amount of people we had. When I asked multiple times they said they would add us to the list to get them and then told me two days later that they didn’t have enough. I honestly had to take them to our house we were moving out of and wash them so that we could share towels. The front desk woman was rude and ignored me talking to another person that worked there for 5min. (I won’t name her) On they way out I asked for GM phone number and I tried calling and left a message for Cynthia with no response. We are loyal Marriott customers and were highly disappointed. We will not stay here again when we return.

I was told that all the rooms are intended to accommodate pets. They apparently do a deep clean after a pet stays. I am allergic to the dander and I have not had any problems.
