Rudy Hermono and his entire staff were excellent. We celebrated our 45th Anniversary and picked the perfect resort. The room, food, bar and courtyard are perfect. We would recommend the Abbey Inn for any event. We have stayed in 5 Star/5 Diamond Hotels and would rate The Abbey Inn with any of them.

What can I say about the Abbey Inn & Spa, a place- upon driving up its winding flower-lined drive - you seemingly fall into an adult fairytale at the front door. Ironically, Franciscan nuns once inhabited (in their habits) this space with its onsite church and abbey and secret passageways. But I can promise you there's no seclusion or sacrifice in the array of garden walks, sumptuous meals, and incredibly blissful spa services that put you into Zen mode, not church mode. A completely 2020 renovated and modernized space that is quite possibly the cleanest resort I've ever come across. And I speak from experience. Not only do I have a writing career steeped in reviews for Travel and Food (I once put Boulder, Colorado on the map as the best untapped restaurants to visit in a cover story for Bon Appetit) but I grew up with Franciscan nuns in a Boston boarding school. So, the inn transported me back to a time when life was honest, kind, albeit secluded. It also delivers more a European flair than American in its service. The restaurant Apropos is appropriately named as a place that is "apropos" to its surroundings. The meals are exquisite. How I wish I were still writing foodie criticisms instead of novels. Every dish that Chef Jared and his team creates, speaks to you with a warmth of classic entree, but with an added hint of seduction. Northern Westchester should dash to this gem of an elegant space serving everything from a Foie Gras mousse cannoli to Grilled Haloumi served with dates, fruit stones and honey. And that's just to get started. The entrees are sublime. The local Steelhead trout served with Summer Succotash and a Saffron Rouille made me beg to see what's just around the corner for fall menus. Breakfast at first seemed ordinary until one orders the blueberry pancakes with a bottom layer of granola. Everything usual becomes unusual. And the eggs tasted like the farmer dropped them off fresh this morning. The staff - Jennifer O'Neill, the food & beverage manager is a delight, as was the very helpful and attentive, Christianna, at the front desk. With fall foliage around the corner I can't imagine a better place to sit and gaze at the Hudson from the coddled mountain space where autumn leaves will swirl at your ankles. The spa too, is everything you dream of in a massage or treatment. As I sat in the sanctuary of a waiting room watching lily pads with rain drops on the nearby screen, all I could think was that it's just too bad those Franciscan nuns didn't experience true divinity. In the hands of my masseuse. The Abbey Inn & Spa is a wedding destination space with spectacular photo op grounds or for an overnight romantic escape. Bring a good book, sip a coffee, and be transported to another place and time as the modern world slips away.

The staff, the room, the views, the spa and restaurant were all fabulous! The grounds are beautiful. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast, both were excellent. Lots of great picture taking spots. Can't wait to go back in the fall!

Upon arrival, the location is breathtaking, with stunning grounds and a picturesque view of the Hudson River. The building architecture is equally impressive, and it's evident that the place is well-maintained and recently renovated. However, the community directly below the Inn is comprised of low-income housing, which detracts from the overall ambiance of the area. While dining at the Apropos restaurant on the premises, the food is excellent, but unfortunately, the service provided by the waitstaff is subpar. They are slow to respond and lack attentiveness, which can be frustrating. For those seeking relaxation, the spa may not be the best option. During our couples massage, the room was uncomfortably warm and had a claustrophobic feel. We had to request that the therapist turn on the air conditioning midway through the session. Overall, if you're looking for a great location outside of NYC, this spot is unbeatable. However, keep in mind that the surrounding neighborhood may not be impressive, and you may need to adjust your expectations when it comes to the spa and restaurant services. Despite these drawbacks, the restaurant's food is outstanding and definitely worth trying.

Pretty inn nestled on the Hudson River. Room was well appointed with nice decor. There was a wedding going on which made the inn very busy. It seemed like the wait staff and bar area had trouble keeping up. Dinner at the restaurant was very good, though the drinks that we ordered were hideous in execution. The menu for the drinks we ordered should have tasted well if made properly. Biggest gripe is that the hot tub in the spa was not working, the elevator was not working and we were not told that they did not have valet service on Sunday morning, after we had valeted our car the night before upon arrival. When we called the front desk concerning these issues, the staff could not respond and offered no solutions. We had stayed on the third floor and we had to carry all of our stuff down three flights. When we called the front desk they should have offered to have someone come up to help us with our belongings but instead the front desk was speechless. When we checked out they often no solutions and just said have a good day. We travel a lot on the weekends to different parts in New England and probably would never come back to this property.

The plan was to surprise my wife on her birthday with a romantic dinner and overnight stay somewhere "special". I achieved that and more with our overnight stay at the Abbey Inn & Spa and Apropos Restaurant. Gilbert Baeriswil the General Manager and his fine staff were hands on and took care of us from the moment we arrived up until we left, reservations for dinner & brunch, ice delivered to your room, and whatever else we needed. The ambiance of this place has to be seen to be believed. I understand it was a Convent & Chapel dating back well into the 1800's and was renovated into what it is today. Many architectural details were preserved and in many areas it's like walking back in time. Our room was very comfortable, world class Hudson River views, large bed, large TV, very modern bathroom, my wife particularly enjoyed the comfortable bed and the sunroom off the lobby with the rocking chairs overlooking the river. We started our dinner with some wine and appetizers at the bar, before moving to the main dining room. My wife had the East coast oysters which were fresh & delicious, and we shared the local burrata & garlic flatbread which was delicious. After a couple rounds, we moved to the main dining room for dinner. My wife had the roasted local 1/2 chicken which was tender & delicious, and I had the cavatelli whipped ricotta, basil, & pomodorini sauce which was hands down the best I ever had. We shared coffee creme brule for dessert, again delicious. We ended our stay with Sunday brunch. My wife had the Apropos Benedict, smoked trout, greens & hollandaise which she loved, and I had the crispy chicken & waffle, cooked perfectly the chicken was tender and delicious. Our only regret was that it was too cold to serve brunch outside in the garden but we're definitely coming back in the spring to experience brunch outside in the garden. This place is 5 stars across the board.

Delightful midweek getaway! Easy ride from my home in Connecticut—spacious, super clean room with all the amenities! Apropos Restaurant on premises was a home-run! Great food and unbeatable service—Ramona was an awesome bartender, server and conversationalist! The grounds were well maintained and inviting! I will definitely be back!

We had such an amazing experience at The Abbey Inn & Spa. We took advantage of their spa, stayed one night, and ate at the restaurant twice. Everything was perfection. The spa was beautifully decorated and very relaxing. There was an array of services to choose from and the staff was kind and accommodating. The Spa Manager was especially helpful. The property is exquisite, with breathtaking views of the Hudson and the food is top-notch. The staff was friendly and made our stay a joy. We will definitely be visiting again.

There's so much to love about The Abbey Inn & Spa from it's history (it used to be a convent) to its scenic hilltop location in Peekskill, New York. I discovered The Abbey while doing a thorough online search of the lower Hudson Valley for my 2023 wedding venue and immediately knew I had to visit. Not long after, I arrived to The Abbey with my fiancé and parents in tow for a quaint summer weekend at this gorgeous boutique-style hotel. From a distance, you can see how it sits high above the Hudson River. Its location is undeniably romantic and perfect for a getaway. The hotel impeccably maintained and very clean. Apropos restaurant (on-site) is a well-known and loved brunch spot but I actually prefer it for dinner!

Had a great experience for our weekend at the Abbey Inn,. More of a boutique hotel like you find throughout Europe than an "inn", staffed by a friendly, professional staff. The building is a 100+ year old abbey that was totally renovated around 2020 to create about 40 nice-sized modern guest rooms and common spaces ...while maintaining the beautiful architecture and some remnants of the religious order. The location overlooking the Hudson River cannot be beat. Reserve a room with river views. We had 2 dinners & breakfasts in the restaurant and they were all very good. If you stay in the warmer months request outdoor seating for dinner.
