I actually never had an "experience" at The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. I really wanted to though. My wife and I wanted to rent their best suite for an aniversary stay, maybe 5 days. We went there and spoke to the desk attendant, left one of my calling cards and were told we'd be contacted by sales staff. Never heard a word. So I went to The Poughkeepsie Grand website and their contact app and asked there if they'd contact me re: our stay. Never heard a word. So I wrote a letter to The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel outlining what you read here. That was last week. Never heard a word. As I said to them, I guess hotel business in Poughkeepsie is really good, since they don't seem to want new business. Or something. Maybe they just don't want my wife and I. We first booked or high school ‘70s decade reunion with The Grand in November 2019 with Gina Paganelli. It was supposed to have taken place in October 2020; however, Covid came along and we had to reschedule twice. We were finally able to hold our reunion this past weekend on October 8th 2022. Overall our experience was excellent. Gina was always quick to answer my emails and meet with us whenever we asked. There were a couple of very minor hiccups the night of the event…one was dealt with immediately and the other was simply a misunderstanding. The staff was courteous, helpful and professional and worked with us regarding our needs. Everything was ready on time and the food was plentiful and delicious. We are thinking about doing this again in five years and if we decide to do it again in Poughkeepsie we will do it again at The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel 🏨 Thank you Gina! Linda Harmon …

Checkin staff was friendly asking us about our ride to Poughkeepsie. We had out bikes with us. Of course we could keep the bikes in the room. Ice cold water and cookies were next to the checkin counter. The room was spacious, plenty of room for bikes. From our room we viewed the Walkway over the Hudson right the purpose of our ride. Breakfast was a buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage, pastries, bagels, cereal, juices & coffee. The treat was a waffle covered with so much cinnamon sugar that syrup wasn't needed.

If you don’t mind a room with a broken toilet, no toilet paper, a broken safe, a tv remote that does t work and on top of that a security guard that can’t react appropriately or assess an emergency and turns to being violent to a guest then this is the hotel that delivers all of that.

I was asked to give The Grand in Poughkeepsie another try...I did. Shakila at the front desk is Fantastic!! A true Gem and a huge improvement and asset to the property. Colleen in the Bar on Friday nights....Oh Yeah! Give me that Pistachio Martini!!! I have to say the changes made between my June 2022 and July 2022 visit were Astronomical Improvements. The GM has brought in peeps that are making this a Great place to stay. I will be back in a few weeks!!! See Ya Then!!!

5 star review for the outstanding service we received from the catering staff, Jim Hutchinson, General Manager and Nick. We appreciate the team that made this day a success. The dressing room was clean, had ample room for 15 people and the food was delivered as scheduled and exceeded our expectations. Nick was helpful, gracious and attentive. First stay in June 2022....Front Desk, Customer service big Fail. Food/Beverage were Outstanding. I have just now checked out from second stay at this Hotel. I have requested a call from the Manager 4 times, onsite visit requested one time. I have not heard from a Manager at all. Front desk "I don't know when they'll be in" "That's not my job" "That's just the way it is" Food and Beverage lost a good employee between last visit and this visit Expect communications failures and have low expectations if you stay here. I cannot in good conscience give them any more of my hard earned money. I will suffer walking distance to work for a happier, more resourceful, and pleasant stay experience at another hotel.

I was in Poughkeepsie for a concert. Drove 6 hours to get there. The gracious Ana at the front desk was so helpful with information and directions, she made my trip a success. I was welcomed by Nina at the Bar & Grill with a compliment drink and cookie. My tiredness was taken care of by a wonderful bed in a very clean room. I would recommend this hotel and its personnel for a great stay.

It’s a good hotel, a bit run down, but they maintain it well. We were informed that the new owners will start a renovation, so that’s good. Our room was fine, clean and comfortable. Parking was right next door, but the parking elevator only connects indirectly with the hotel itself. So, to get to your car from your room, you have to take two elevators. Previous reviews trashed the free breakfast, but we found it to be excellent-scrambled eggs, bacon, potato’s, and fresh fruit and muffins-really very nice. Michael , at the breakfast buffet, was excellent. In addition to helping us with getting our meal, he stopped to talk, asking us about ourselves, and he really seemed yo care. Very impressive gentleman. The only weird thing was they couldn’t provide me with a copy of my receipt, or tell me the amount of the bill when we checked out.…
