Lillian, at the front desk, was an absolute sweetheart. Hard-working personable, she heated the dinner that I had brought with me. My room was clean, and the bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. I slept very well for being in a strange place. The only detractor was the breakfast price - very high and only two choices. It was very well made and yummy but still, it was 3 times what I would have paid at home. The property is beautiful.
This hotel is huge and has a beautiful upscale lodge decor once you enter. The lighting is nice and subdued. I'm not even sure if they have an elevator as all rooms might be 1st floor because of the sprawl of this place. No upstairs floor means no upstairs noise! Check-in went smoothly. It was a peaceful stay with a very good size room. King bed with a loveseat and desk. Right across the street by the gas station is a bagel shop that has iced coffee too. Downtown Tarrytown is 1 mile away and we love Coffee Labs there and Bibille for a casual, healthy meal.
The bed and pillows are amazing I slept there for two nights and I had the best experience ! Staff was friendly and locals so they were filled with the knowledge of the history of sleepy hollow which is always fun to explore! With knowledge of Romaric views and restaurants locally with beautiful stunning views! Definitely returning, this is the perfect getaway for couples and even weddings especially ! Definitely look for the manager of the hotel Lillian ! She is so lovely to speak with and so helpful for all you needs to make it a lovely experience also they have an amazing indoor pool! That is open now! Wish I new ahead of time but I will be prepared for sure the next time. Stunning outside garden views and the option to get a room with the garden view. Definitely gives off old New York vibes almost like it’s been trapped in the 1950s New York.. it’s such a nice calm feeling inside. No loud visitors everyone is friendly. Definitely recommend staying more than one night to really enjoy it!…
Booked three rooms in January as part of a family weekend. My room was clean and spacious. The furniture could use an update. My bath jets did not work, and the lighting system in my brother's room and fan in the bathroom did not work properly. I'm glad to know that the hotel is undergoing renovations. We all especially enjoyed the pool and lobby setup. Lonni at the front desk was so helpful and friendly and also Jose at the restaurant/bar. We will definitely return!
This place is not what the website makes it out to be. It truly was a terrible experience. My fiancée and I stayed in the deluxe king suite, which I believe is the second nicest set of rooms they have. The entire bad experience begins with simply getting to our room. After walking for what seemed to be a quarter mile from the lobby to the room, we finally get there, and the door is dead bolted shut. So we had to wait outside our room for 10 minutes for a maintenance person to come and unlock the door. The room comes with a jacuzzi tub and rain shower. The jacuzzi tub was not cleaned when we checked in. There were hairs from someone’s head and from “somewhere else” on someone’s body all within the tub. They advertise it as a jacuzzi with jets, yet the jets did not work. While the water pressure in the shower was good, some of the water spouts did not work and the shower itself leaked water all over the bathroom floor, causing us to have to waste towels to dry the floor. And the toilet seat had dried urine on it. Which tells me they don’t properly clean the rooms after guests check out. The fridge in room was making loud sounds, including a perpetual buzzing noise that would not go away and was so loud it was difficult to sleep. Then the morning we were set to leave, they decide to do construction in the hallway directly outside our room. This construction also blocked our path to be able to lug our stuff the quarter mile back to the car, and we had to walk around the hotel like a maze trying to find a way back to our car and the best way to bring our luggage to the car. The WiFi did not work in the hotel the entire time (so no WiFi), and there is no room service. And the maid service barely makes rounds. We had to call for towels, which took over an hour to be delivered, and were only delivered after we made a second request. We planned to eat at the restaurant one of the nights we were there, but it was closed the entire time. We saw the bar open just one time, with no bar tender in sight. So there’s no real way to get something to eat unless you leave the property and either go food shopping or go to another restaurant. As long as hotels meet standard amenities, i.e. clean bathroom, working appliances, proper cleaning/room make up services, we don’t complain. But this place was noticeably bad. From the beginning of our stay to the end, we were constantly commenting on how bad the hotel was for so many different reasons. Do not recommend and we will definitely not be back. The part that bothers me the most, is I read the reviews from TripAdvisor, and I see other people making similar complaints, and then I see the hotel “respond” to the negative comments, asking for a second chance, and saying they aim to please their guests…I don’t know who is running this place but they get nothing done. If they are aware of these bad qualities of their hotel, how on earth do they let it continue? That’s what bothers me. If you know your business is bad in any way shape or form, do something to fix it. Don’t just yes people to death and do nothing. I’ve never felt I deserved a refund more than after going to this awful hotel. And this review should be shown to the hotel manager or owner. …
Horrible experience. Went for business meeting and decided since convenient to stay there. Rooms and corridors were dingy, old, and the A/C was cranking out and the thermostat wasn't working. After dropping my bag stopped by desk and showed them what was happening with the thermostat and asked that they look at it while I had dinner. Of course the restaurant and lounge wasn't open except I think they said Thur-Sunday or something like that so had to get an uber to take me into Tarrytown (website never said anything about this lack of food/beverage). Returned about 10 pm and went to bed and discovered that no one fixed the thermostat and it blew COLD air all night long= I was just miserable. Terrible sleep. Then in morning discovered the hair dryer was missing and called front desk to request as I had just gotten out of the shower when realized that. Waited 30 minutes and it never showed up. Don't waste your money here. Stay anywhere else. I always hate to leave bad reviews as try not to be overly critical but this place was terrible. …
The hotel is in a great location but that's just about the only thing going for this hotel. The rooms were dated and not exactly clean. The furniture had also seen better days. The weirdest thing that happened during our stay was someone random knocked on our door at 10pm saying he wanted to fix our tv when we didn't ask/need it to be fixed. It was at that point we also realized there was no phone to call the front desk. After calling the front desk from my mobile, they apologized but were not that really that sympathetic. Do not stay here.
The night check in person was incompetent. Our room was 466. He told us to go down the hall to the elevator. We carted our suitcases, walked a very long distance and the elevator was not working. I called the front desk and was told that the 4th floor is really the 1st floor. He told us to walk back and down a corridor. After a very long walk we find room 466. Only problem was the room was occupied. I called the front desk and he told us we had to walk back to the front desk which was quite a distance away and he would see if he could find us another room. He found us a room on the 3rd floor which was down a flight of stairs and quite a distance again. We had someone walk with us otherwise we would never have found the room. The room was a tiny dumpy room. By the time we got to the room it was 1:30 at night. We were both exhausted. The next morning we went for breakfast and the buffet was $54 for 2 people.. All I had was a bagel. They didn't even have decaf coffee. I used priceline to book my trip and learned that I overpaid by at least $60. They should have paid us to stay there. We couldn't wait to get home.…
Although the location is very convenient, the room itself was in poor condition and smelled highly of cigarette smoke. At one point during our stay we could actually smell cigarette smoke coming out of the vent above the shower. The staff were all kind and helpful but unfortunately the room itself was a let down - rips and holes in the couch in our room, strange discoloration on our sheets and so on. I even went home still with lingering cigarette smoke in my hair, and I am not a smoker. Unfortunately I would not stay here again.
My wife and I first stayed at this hotel 10 years ago, so we booked in again. It's exactly the same as we remembered, as in the same furniture, same carpet, same paint on the walls, same everything that was here 10 years ago, only now in a deep state of decay. With the heater running, we started getting a gritty taste in our mouths and itchy eyes, which probably means the ventilation system hasn't been cleaned in 10 years, either. The photos are of the cracked and moldy grout in the shower and the peeling bathroom door, and the toilet wobbles when you sit on it. The hotel bar looks like it hasn't been open in ages, and while there's a big sign in the lobby saying renovations are taking place, there's no actual evidence of it. Even with a Priceline deal we feel like we've been had. Thank God we're only here for one night, or we'd be going ballistic right now. Thoroughly disgusting.…
