I always stay at Tarrytown House Estate when visiting my family in the area. It is a very quiet property and the location makes it ideal. It is not far from Westchester County Airport and near the train to go into New York City. Staff is always friendly and prompt. Rooms fit a modern tech lifestyle with plenty of places to charge my equipment. Wifi is strong throughout the hotel. Every time I've stayed my room has had a view of their manicured landscape. It is like home away from home.
This isn’t a luxury experience so don’t expect that. Very basic rooms but the beds are really comfortable and the place is quiet. Had room where you could see the Hudson through the trees and had no street noise. Rooms seemed fairly insulated. It was hard to figure out the heating system. The gym is super basic and hard to find. In fact getting around the place in general isn’t easy. Most rooms are in wings that go one to the next but finding exits that work and how to get anywhere is difficult unless you have a keen sense of direction. The ballroom was nice and the food good. A nice wedding venue but I wouldn’t seek the place out to stay on any old weekend.
From the moment we found this hotel, we were welcomed. Having lived in Westchester County all our lives we never even knew it existed. The grounds are lovely and it is beautiful at night when you see the dear cuddling together all around the grounds, so precious. Surrounded by nature, very pleasant surroundings, and Historical buildings that bring you back in time. All of the employees were friendly and tried to be as accommodating as possible. Our room was clean and comfortable. We were in town visiting family from Florida. Extended our stay several times. This place is our hidden little gem and we will be back again.
This is Hell. I am here right now. No hot water. Called the front desk. They will send an "engineer". Nobody came. TV won't turn on. Called the front desk. Was told "try turning on the box and the TV blah blah blah". No way to lock room from the inside. And the entire front of the building is unlocked. I can deal with a lot of crap but this is a whole new level. I won't be paying for the freeing breeze coming though the broken windows and the fact that I have to turn the heat on so high I have a rash on my face. Stay away.
Stayed in the King Mansion and on the second night we had just come in from a day with family. Anyone can enter this building without a key, all lights off, no staff in sight. My husband and I were getting ready for bed when we had a very loud knock on the door, the male identified themselves as hotel maintenance and said they had a noise compliant about our room. We had not been making any noise other than talking and had the tv on. I luckily didn't open the door and called the front desk. The lady who answered seemed confused about the situation and could not tell me whether there was an actual complaint about our room. I didn't sleep much that night. I notified the front desk upon check out and the employee at this time apologized and said this seemed very odd and that this was not their practice to send maintenance. I informed her that I believe her quests are at risk with the current set up. I have not heard anything from the property since check out. As far as the room the window didn't lock, the safe was not working and the coffee maker would not turn on. I will never go back to this property.…
Not the same hotel it used to be. Internet was very poor. Rooms were not made up until after 3. No replacements of coffee. No one seemed to care about helping guests with questions. No quick breakfast place. Only $25 buffet or $15 take out yourself. Not amenable to guests visiting the area. Only conventions were there. Only nice person there was the gentleman who opened and closed the lobby door for you.
My fiancé and I had an issue with a previous reservation at the estate from February of 2022 and the hotel was nice enough to accommodate us. You can tell that providing great services is part of their culture. We had a great time at the estate and the service was phenomenal. We have been going there for years and we will be back in the future. Highly recommend.
The King Mansion room was lovely. The view from the porch was fantastic. Lovely bed. The bathroom is badly in need of upgrading -- we were disappointed in it. The room is over the restaurant, so it was noisy until about 11 pm. The grounds are beautiful, and I look forward to returning in the spring/summer months to use the pool and outside activities. Would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I made a last-reservation here after hotels.com unexpectedly cancelled our reservation at our previous hotel, and we were both super impressed with this hotel. It has a majestic yet comfortable vibe to it, and with good reason: the buildings have been used as a private residence since the mid-19th century, and currently hosts weddings and conferences. It's a lot nicer than the standard chain hotels, and with a lot more personality. The check-in/checkout process went smoothly, and there's plenty of free parking. It's a deceptively big hotel - we had to walk down two flights of stairs and take an elevator down another two levels to get to our room in the Putnam wing. Our room was very comfortable, though, and a pleasant way to decompress at the end of the day. Our AC controls didn't work in the middle of the night; the nighttime security guard came promptly and reset the AC really well so that the room immediately cooled off. This hotel has a lot of amenities, and I look forward to staying here again so that I can explore more of the property.…
There are different buildings on this huge piece of property. I was in the main building shown above. Everything was absolute perfection. As I drove my car through the gate, there was a deer grazing. I saw three deer within an hour. I walked through part of the property and couldn't believe how large it was. Some buildings would have a view of the Hudson river. There was also an upscale dining room but I had other plans. I have told everyone about this hotel and hope I can return sometime. Considering the area Hilton and Marriott charge for parking and this one doesn't is reason enough, plus no resort fee. If I had booked into the Hilton I would have missed this enormous opportunity to be surrounded by trees and beautiful parkland.
