There was something tired about this hotel. The staff, the rooms, but perhaps not the location which is walkable to downtown and there is a romantic river walk. I kind of regret booking here only because it was rather expensive and I don’t think it was worth it. But there weren’t a lot of options in 2023 for the foothills of the Berkshires when planing a fall wedding anniversary.
The check in process was not great. First I was offered a street side first floor upon arrival, then, because we arrived 40 minutes before checkin we were “promised” a river view only to get a street side second floor when we came back at 4:30pm until my wife intervened for a fifth floor room, still street side. Makes me wish I did not prebook the stay on Expedia. I mean what’s the point.
The rooms on the street are not quiet. There are 12am drivers either speeding loud cars or blaring loud music. It helps to have the AC on, but it is a rather loud 47 dB, measured from the bed (about as loud as a dehumidifier). Turning it off or intermittent setting doesn’t help with the street noise outside.
Bathroom shower is poorly designed. The shower pours water on the floor but I do respect the silent exhaust fan that dries out the bathroom overnight. Good water pressure and shampoo, body wash and conditioner offered in large dispensers.
The King room is very good size but tiny closet. It has a microwave and mini fridge.
The bed is average comfort. The pillows make a crinkly-plasticky sound. The bed pad and mattress sheet falls off the bed easily.
We did not take advantage of the hotel breakfast except to order a Starbucks coffee on our way out. It was an awkward interaction; I think the server expected a tip for a $6.48 venti coffee… Well I doubt we will be back here even if Troy itself has interesting architecture and a nice vibe in certain areas.

Thank you for your feed back and choosing the Courtyard Troy. We apologize the upgrade to the river side was not possible. We do our best to upgrade upon request for guests who book the city side. We appreciate all the additional comments as well which will be reviewed by the leadership team to make on going improvements to our guests' experiences.

We stayed a night at Courtyard by Marriott of Troy for 1 night in Feb 2025 while visiting RPI. The hotel is super clean and looks and feels like recently built. Mattress was comfortable, the curtains provided full darkness, the climate unit worked smoothly, and the bathroom was excellent and clean. Location is very convenient, close to highway exit. That would be a perfect stay, but unfortunately there was a serious problem with noise coming from the highway and Hudson bridge next to the hotel. Buses, trucks, motorcycles, crazy road racers, etc. - we heard all of them, especially as the morning was approaching. The noise was heard even with earplugs, though this way it was tolerable. Hotel in such location must have sound proof windows. We’ve been to many hotels next to highways but never had a problem with noise. Had to read other people’s reviews.
We can recommend this hotel for those for whom heavy road noise is not an issue.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days in November right around Thanksgiving, We were in suite which was large enough with very comfortable beds. Everyone working at the hotel was friendly and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We would like give special kudos to Doreen at the breakfast counter (I should point out that breakfast was limited as they do not have a full kitchen) Despite this limitation Doreen was always right on top of everything and came to know what we would have everyday and had it ready for us. I would also like to thank Morgan at the front desk, who resolved the one problem we had very quickly and efficiently Overall a great stay at a hotel that really strives to excellence.

We were on a road trip and had stayed the previous night at a wonderful Courtyard on the other side of Vermont. When we figured out how much farther we wanted to drive, we booked this Courtyard in Troy. As we exited the highway, the first thing we noticed was that the hotel was extremely close to a highway overpass, probably much less than 500 feet, so when we checked in, I requested a quiet room. The desk clerk gave us a room on the 3rd floor towards the end of the hall away from the overpass. It turned out, however, that the overpass would be the least of my concerns. As I closed the curtains, I realized we were situated right on Rt. 4/River St. An obnoxiously loud motorcycle went by. And another. We were way too tired to check out and didn't want to pay the extra $40 or more for a room on the other side of the hotel where guests have a view of the parking lot and the Hudson River, undoubtedly an underwhelming site. The result, then, is that I got just one hour of sleep and the rest of our trip was ruined. All night long, the noise was so jarring that I felt like we were next to a racetrack. Neither pillows nor earplugs could handle the din. I became so desperate for sleep that I stripped the bed and moved into the shower--first making sure it was completely dry! Quiet at last! Then I realized that my head was next to a very low shelf in the shower...and when I held the cell phone flashlight underneath, little circles of mold or dirt sent me fleeing back to bed. Unless you wear hearing aids or are deaf, I strongly suggest you stay elsewhere. Adding to the frustration was the squeaky bed every time my husband tossed and turned, not as bad as budget hotels, but unacceptable for a Marriott.

We regularly stay at Marriott properties and this was a real standout. Check-in is on upper level while parking is behind the hotel on the lower level. If you need a luggage trolley, temporarily park at check-in level to unload vehicle. Otherwise, feel free to park out back and walk in with luggage. Lobby space is used for check-in, seating, tables, TVs, bar, appetizers, and Starbucks. You must use your room key in the elevator to access any floor above the lobby. Make sure you each have a key since one of you may get stuck at Starbucks waiting for the other to come get them. Food and beverages ordered can be charged to your room. Also, I was informed to use the key card to enter the hotel if we were out late (I think after 10 pm). Room 304 was spacious and included an oversized seating area with ottoman. The ice and vending machine was near the elevator; it was a quiet area. Narrow closet for hanging clothes and included iron and ironing board. Plenty of flat surface space (see desk area). Great fluffy absorbent towels. Hairdryer in bathroom along with magnified makeup mirror and terrific lighting. Shower was spacious but I wasn't familiar with only half a glass wall with no door (I understand it's like Europe.) We found it was fine but could see how someone could easily soak the floor. The toiletries included shampoo, conditions, soaps, and lotion (enough for one night.) The bed was spotless, soft linens, with a variety of pillows for firmness. Nightstands on both sides with great side lighting and over headboard lighting. On nightstands, lots of plug outlets and USB ports (many throughout the room.) Housekeeping did a fabulous job cleaning our room as if we had just arrived. They refreshed the toiletries but overlooked the paper cups and tea I had used. We had time to relax in the lobby and brought our own beers and snacks while chatting with others and the game on TV. We were there on a snowy night and the plow was regularly in the parking lot and we came out the next morning to find our car was bushed off (wow!) Practically didn't say goodbye and we were checked out. I didn't have much interaction with staff but I saw they were available if I needed them. I had no issues and can only gush over the enjoyment of my stay.

The hotel itself was fine-it was clean, all of the staff were very pleasant and friendly. There is plenty of free uncovered parking. The issues were the following: The internet is open, no password required so use at your own risk! We had a river view room which provided a nice view of a not so nice river. The room itself was very basic (King w/ water view), so do not expect luxury, I don’t feel the hotel/room/area in anyway justified the high price. The area outside the hotel is very economically depressed, with all the associated issues; I would not recommend walking at night.

Dear mjd572, Thank you for providing feedback from your recent stay. Troy is in the middle of a large scale revitalization project. It is a wonderful city with lots to do currently and continues to offer more and more to those traveling into the area. I am sorry you were not able to experience that during your stay. We hope next time you will be able to. We also hope next time you return you will see even more improvements as things are changing very rapidly. We will certainly look into your specific comments regarding the hotel and see if we can make improvements there as well. Thank you again for your feedback. We sincerely hope you give Troy another try in the future.

We were traveling into the area as a family and this property was very close to the apartment we were moving our daughter into. Thanks to COVID protocols still in place, we didn't have any of the dining amenities available to us so I can only speak about the room. Everything at first glance was modern and clean, and the beds were extremely comfortable. If I had to nitpick about anything, it would be the lack of drawer space for our belongings and the shower in the bathroom. The modern walk-in shower has clear glass so that there was no privacy for the person showering. Traveling with kids, we are used to having bathroom access to use the sink, etc. while someone showering is hidden behind a shower curtain or frosted glass. This setup was an inconvenience for that and we don't understand why they don't put something on the glass to make it private. Aside from those things, it was a comfortable stay but a little pricey given the lack of on-site amenities available.

Dear AndreaK, Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate and use our guests feedback to help improve as we move forward. We hope to be operating to pre-covid levels shortly. Next time you are coming to town, please let us know and we would be happy to put you in a room with a tub that does not have the glass shower design. I believe you would find it better fits your needs. Sincerely,

This was a lovely hotel stay. We picked Troy as we normally stay in Massachusetts and always want to go further west in New York but run out of time. Researched and this looked like a good location near food that would be a good base for traveling west, and I was not wrong. To be honest, the hotel exceeded my expectations and I'm going to look for the Marriott brand whenever traveling going forward!
Check-in was a breeze. The man who checked us in was very friendly and informative. Things have changed due to Covid measures like no room cleaning and the on-site restaurant is now closed but that was understood before I checked in. There is plenty of parking - the lot is huge.
The room was so nice. I loved how comfortable the bed was. No back issues either night. The light block curtain worked so well that we found it hard to get out of bed. I never heard other guests, it was very quiet. I heard a rumble or two from the road but nothing too bad. We didn't get a river view but you could see it from the hall. The tv was fantastic, although I wished it had more sports channels. The couch was comfortable and there were plenty of sockets. The bathroom was awesome. I loved the shower set up! You have the controls far from the shower head so you can adjust temperature without worrying. And the room also had a microwave and fridge. No issues with cleanliness at all either.
One thing that happened while we were there and I thought the staff handled really well was part of the siding of the hotel facing the river fell off due to high winds. The staff were outside and directed us to a better parking area and called to check in and let us know what was happening. Very thorough and great customer service.

My husband and I stayed here while visiting family in the area. Given the ongoing pandemic we were primarily concerned with cleanliness. The hotel delivered. The rooms were clean, all staff and guests wore masks, and hand sanitizer was widely available. The staff was also super kind and helpful, which we really appreciated.
Not in the most scenic area but it’s a quick walk or drive to Troy, which has some charm to it, including great restaurants. Nothing fancy, but got the job done!

We engaged with Jaclyn Thornley and the Courtyard Marriott when planning for our out-of-town wedding guests, and for our own suite during our time in the area. First, when it came to blocking off rooms, and comparing prices around the Albany area, Jaclyn was very forthcoming with information about how the process worked, and timelines for our guests. She was very patient as we did our own mental planning, and continuously followed up during the timeframe. The hotel had a very competitive rates, and made it really easy to get information about our guest accommodations to our friends and family. Additionally, as we got closer to the wedding date certain plans changed, they were flexible and worked with us to grow the number of rooms. With regard to our actual stay, we think the quality of the hotel itself was excellent. The front desk was always friendly and polite, and worked with us on small requests for our wedding. Literally every single service staff we encountered in the halls greeted us with a "good evening" or "good morning", to the point where it was noticeable and welcomed. The rooms were clean and of a modern design that we could appreciate (we really liked the open concept of the showers!). The lobby food court area was a great meeting place. The location was convenient and close to a lot of the after-hours bars we would frequent. Lastly, the small touches really elevated our experience and made the wedding weekend unforgettable. We would highly recommend the Courtyard Marriott Troy for wedding guest accommodations, and as a general place to stay.
