The owners are down to earth, friendly people who make you feel right at home. The lodge has all the basic necessities warm showers, bathrooms in every room, clean and a fireplace to relax by. Packbasket Adventures Lodge is the only lodging in the Wanakena area of upstate NY. It's a wonderful, peaceful oasis in the midst of the beauty of the "Forever Wild" Adirondack State Park. Owners Angie Oliver and Rick Kovacs have created a beautiful retreat in this historic very small village. Upon arriving at the Lodge, we were cheerily greeted by Angie... More

This place and the owners are great. Anyone that likes to hike, ski, hunt, or fish won't find a better (& less traveled) place in the north country. It's right on the Oswegatchie. We love coming here: clean, quiet, great food and rooms. I can't say enough about the place, the owners Rick & Angie, and the area in general.

Loved it! My daughter Maggie and I stayed at the Packbasket in early November and was very happy and comfortable. The owners, Angie and Rick (and the pup Irish), are exceptionally nice and accommodating. Rick, a Ranger alum, was a great resource for my daughter to chat with since we were up in Wanakena to tour the Ranger school's campus.... More

We spent a wonderful 3 days at Packbasket. We wanted to feel really remote, while hiking and paddling and exploring the Adirondacks. Packbasket delivered all that and more! I've never heard such quiet, and on our hikes and walks we had the woods to ourselves. Rick and Angie pointed us to good places to hike and paddle (and staged the... More

This is lovely newish B&B in a rustic Adirondack style. It's in a charming location. We were there in late August. The bedrooms are great (we had Bear). The common areas are very nice. The Wifi is very good. The breakfast room is excellent, and Rick makes an excellent breakfast. The building was well designed. One plus is that none... More

Wonderful up-to-date, yet rustic lodge in Wanakena. Great food (our group is definitely "foodies"), attentive and knowledgeable staff. Bedrooms and common areas were roomy and well-appointed. Computer available for those who must be connected. If you like backcountry skiing, snowshoeing and relaxing with friends this is the place for you.
