Let me start by saying it wasn't too bad. It was cheap and the sheets were clean, the bed was comfortable, but the rest eh? We were only staying overnight so it was passable. With a little extra effort this place could be improved. There was dust on the lamps and luggage rack that hadn't been cleaned in a while. There was thick dust all along the baseboards in the room, the computer chair to sit on looked like something out of the trash. Then there was the bathroom (fairly clean) toilet could use a lit more scrubbing, the shower curtain was not changed it has spots on it and it was wet from previous use. Like I said it was passable but with a little more attention could be nicer!

We booked this motel as the least expensive dog-friendly option in the Saratoga area (about 25 quick miles away) during Saratoga's opening weekend for the racing season --- the motel was clean, comfortable, spartan, and with the air conditioner running, white-noise-quiet. The wonderful surprise was the town in which the motel is sort-of located, Waterford, the oldest incorporated town in New York State, across the river from Troy, and at the junction of the Champlain and Erie Canals. Some tall locks are open to the public and there is a farmer's maket at the locks on Saturday. The town is certainly worth a visit to anyone interested in the development of the United States as it was from this area both the West and the North opened up thanks to the man-made waterways. My only "serious' complaint about Scottish Inns was there was no coffee maker in the room, but I was able to walk with my dog a few yards in the early morning to a nearby Stewarts Shop both for his benefit and a fresh cup of wake-up.

It is fairly clean (dusty but clean sheets) and quiet. No closets, hair dryer or coffee in room. Peeling dry wall and made with poor craftsmanship. Old tv but they have HBO and wifi. Definitely no frills. Only hotel in town is suggest staying in Saratoga. Lot more fun

For the price, location, and initial outside appearance of the Scottish Inns on the Hudson, I was a bit worried it would turn out to be dirty, dangerous, and uncomfortable. Was I wrong!! Scottish Inns on the Hudson is an excellent value for any traveler on a budget. The rooms are very clean. The beds are comfortably firm with linens that did not irritate my allergies, and had no lumpy spots. The staff is incredibly helpful and nice, as well. I have paid 4x's the price at higher rated hotels and not had as comfortable a stay as I did here.

One suggestion for cold-weather travelers: Turn on the room heat when you check in so it's warm when you return to sleep at night. This place doesn't waste electricity by over-heating unused rooms (good for them), so give yourself a little time between check-in and going to bed to get the room to a comfy temperature.

Our room was comfortable, clean & adequate but on the small side.
The front office staff were helpful in dealing with our requests & we found the situation of the motel to be quiet & peaceful.
Good value stay if you're in the area.

Worst hotel ever! The smelt in the bathroom ( mold) was so bad we closed the door and switch on the fan all the night. Very scary place, the man on the registration was behind a glass!! 82 $ for that it's a rip off. Sleep in your car.

The manager and his wife worked with us on such short notice. Just from the phone calls today and check in, they are friendly and the property is very attractive and peaceful. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Waterford area, I would highly recommend this amazing Inn.

Do Not believe the pictures. This motel has beer bottle's in the bushes and cinder blocks on the patio. The rooms don't even have closets and are so cramped you can hardly move. And be ready to have to ask for the items promised on the site, including the microwave. Dishonest and rude people...I'd sleep in my car before I stayed here!!!

Thank you for your feedback. In response to your review, I have contacted our landscapers to fully cleanup and address entire grounds and property to remove any and all debris. They will perform a full Spring Cleanup on the property by this weekend (May 11th). Some of the areas on the property are not accessible during our winter months in New York State and I want to apologize that this debris affected your stay at our property. In an effort to provide our customers with the best experience we do have patio repair taking place until end of May and this was the reason for Cinder Blocks on the property. Again I am truly sorry that the construction may have inconvenienced you. We had just finished residing and new lighting installation was also taking place at the time of your stay. On Trip Advisor under the pictures section, Photo 2 of 19 labeled Premier Double Room is the actual room (#104) that you stayed in. The other picture is of our King Size Room (Actual Room#102&103). We want to provide our customers with a room based on their needs and you had asked for a double room. Please stay in our King Room on your next visit so you have more space in the room with the absence of the second bed. I would hope that we are able to earn back your business in the future and would like to extend my sincerest apologies. Thank you for your business and feedback. Sincerely, Ravi S Modasra; Owner

I've stayed in this motel for just 1 night and cannot fault it - it is good for a basic 1-night stay, but nothing more. Its a bit out of town (about 1-1.5 miles), though walkable - and in town there are some places to eat. Its near the river, but you can't see it actually. The room was basic and decor a bit dates, but bathroom was spacious, even though it could do with some cleaning.
Beware though that if you're booking "smoking" room (which is cheaper), it will smell of tobacco. I didn't mind that, even though I don't smoke myself, but if thats an issue for you - book a non-smoking one.

The web-site says, "350.00" weekly. We were put in a SMOKING room when I, personally, explained that my wife and I were non-smokers.
The room was, ABSOLUTELY, FILTHY!!!
The HVAC unit was clogged, so bad, with dust and debris that it collected up on the higher walls.
The bathroom vent was clogged with filth and the room smelled like a dead animal. Section 8 housing in disguise and they charged me over $500.00. I have tons of, graphic, pictures.

Thank you for your review. First you make reservation through Expedia.com. The rate is based on Daily rate, that is why you p$500, instead of $350 of weekly rate we have. And your booked a SMOKING room, that is why we gave you smoking room, we just follow the reservation you made. At the moment you walk into our room, you should have notice it was smoking room. If you did not like our room, you was allowed to cancel the booking, get full refund and leave right away. But you did not tell me anything, instead you stayed here for 7 days. And we asked to clean your room during your stay, you refused our clean service. Now you saying our room are dirty, it is so unfair. During this whole stay, Nobody forced you to stay, you can checkout anytime you want, but you did not leave. After you check out, you sent us an email to treat us, if you don't give you $200 refund, you will harm our business reputation, which you just did. All the pictures you took, are aimed to threat us to get refund. but sorry, we cannot give you this refund, you booked through 3rd party website, we need to charge more, because we need to pay 3rd party website commission.

This place is more disgusting than a foreign, third world country, jail-cell. Nasty beyond belief. Smell? OMG...still washing the foul smell out of blankets and clothing.
