We are home now and reflecting on our wonderful trip to Tanzania. Kigelia was our first of two locations and did not disappoint. From our warm welcome to our final send off we had a truly wonderful time. The tents are extremely well appointed. The bed extremely comfortable. A proper flushing loo (a luxury). Bucket showers whenever you want one....

My family of four visited in early June 2016, and we were delighted with our three nights at Kigelia. Our guide, Joel, was wonderful - very knowledgeable, interactive and he really paid attention to what we wanted, which was nice. Ken (the manager) and all the staff at Kigelia are wonderful - every. single. staff member remembered our names, were...

This park and camp is a must for every Tanzania lover! The small and beautiful camp in Tanzanias biggest national park offers everything one can ask for. Beautiful spacious extremely tidy tents covered by Makuti roofs, great food and the most impressing environment close to the dry riverbed. Game drive in this area was fascinating with Joel who is a...

November mid-day is hot here, but the nights are cool and the mornings perfect for game drives. The tents are comfortable and rather luxurious with a sense that wildlife was close by at night. The staff were really great, from morning wake up coffee to group dinners. Food was simple but excellent. Our guide, Raj, was exceptional. Game drives were...

With just 6 tents, this is a small and intimate camp. During our visit only 4 were occupied and on the last day only us. The tents were simple with a bush shower on demand and the bedroom with a nice double bed and bedside tables and a simple storage unit for clothes. Food was taken in the main tented...

We were lucky enough to spend 7 nights at Kigelia and we absolutely fell in love with it. The tents are very spacious, light and airy and very clean and ours was completely free of any insects, however insect repellent is provided. The game viewing is unbelievably good ... hundreds of elephants, lions every day, leopard and - on a...

If the gods had got together and designed their perfect safari they would have fallen short of our experience. Nomad's Kigelia lodge is situated deep within the 22,000 sq kms of protected, undisturbed totally wild African bush that makes up the Ruaha National Park. When i asked my great friend, Ian Michler, principal of Invent Africa and specialist African guide...

We decided that we would go some place exceptional for our honeymoon which is why we opted for a safari. We had heard that Tanzania was a great place for safaris and hence we opted to go there. But let me tell you that even though Tanzania is beautiful everywhere, your experience won't be the same everywhere. We stayed about...

This is the most amazing camp in the heart of the fantastic Ruaha national park. It offers just the right blend of simplicity (tents, bucket showers etc.) and pampering (comfy double beds, flush loos etc.). The staff are friendly and attentive, the food excellent and the guiding absolutely first class. The camp is right out in the bush, and whilst...

Really a great place to visit. Ken took exceptional care of use, made us always feel safe, and made sure we saw just as many animals as possible. Food was wonderful - cannot believe they can prepare this in such a remote location. Beds were very comfortable and warm! Loved the elephants who visited the tent! Thanks for a great...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kigelia Ruaha is an authentic safari experience in Tanzania’s finest wilderness. Set in a secluded grove of Kigelia or "Sausage Trees", high on the banks of the Ifuguru Sand River in the Ruaha National Park, Kigelia Camp is an exclusive semi permanent mobile camp offering a tailor made, private experience, giving our guests a chance to step off the treadmill and connect with the soul of Africa. Our small, discreet camp operates in a socially and environmentally responsible way, placing a minimal footprint in these precious areas of natural beauty. The aim of the camp is to genuinely blend into the ecosystem and allow you to immerse with nature as much as possible. Nomad Tanzania is focused firmly on the integrity of the safari; the luxury of the experience. First and foremost a safari is about the experience; being at the right place at the right time with the best guide is critical. Of course it's important to be comfortable and well fed however these things are only one part of the formula. Kigelia Ruaha is a traditional tented safari experience giving access to remote areas that offer an unparalleled level of exclusivity and fantastic game viewing. Wake up with the sounds of wildlife surrounding your tent as you sip your morning coffee and get ready for a game drive. All snuggled up under a blanket you depart just as the huge African sun rises in the background. Ruaha National Park is truly an amazing destination when it comes to animal encounters along with the breath-taking scenery of ancient baobab trees and the winding Ruaha River. If you are the type that has been on safari before and looking for an authentic, natural experience, with intimate guiding Kigelia is your place. ... more   less
