Reasonably priced, clean, and staff are very friendly. Close to everything in the stone town, few metres away from the sea front resort, Forodhani Park. Easy access to the sea port, market and shopping. Plenty of nearby restaurants. Enjoyed my stay.

We found this a quite expensive hotel, we got our price down from 75 to 55 USD but still we found it too much for wat we got. Small room, no AC (only a fan). Breakfast was OK. It is in the center of Stonetown but Stonetown is not that big so this was not that big of an advantage.

I have tried several hotels, from budget to luxury, in Stone Town over the years. Travel companion of mine thought this one would be really expensive because of the location, so we booked to a budget backpacker place. When we got there it was so awful I said, "let's go to Shangani and see if they have a room." It...

Comfortable enough hotel in the centre of Stone town. Just about everything is on your doorstep, or within a few minutes walk. Freddie Mercury's house is just a bit further along the road. The rooms are a reasonable size, with large bathrooms, fan and air con. There are better hotels, but this is adequate and very handy for everything. Breakfast...

Hotel is in a walking distance from port in the city centre. Five minute walk from the nice sandy beach. All the shops are in a range of 300m. Also reastaurants with very good fish food are very close.

It's ok to be a budget hotel with basic and simple amenities, as long as cleanliness, functionality, and safety are maintained. Shangani achieves none of the above, and my feeling is they don't care. Most serious problem encountered during my stay - theft: In the middle of the night a thief opened my two second floor windows from the outside...

We chose this hotel for a 1 day stay because of its good location and rates. however that was a big mistake! The staff are unfriendly, racisit and rude...Also we were advised that the check out time is at 11:00Am, we were down at the lobby by 11:05Am however they forced us to pay additional half day charges claiming we...
