Akros Oreon is a beautiful place in the mountains, very quiet and remote. Giorgos is a great host and gives advice in several languages (french, spanish, english, ...) on walks, beaches, sights etc. make sure you don't miss the cheese dairy on omalos plateau. The food he serves is delicious, very fresh and most of it from his own gardens....

Location In the foothills of Mt Dikte about 20 minutes from Myrtos. Best reached by car or even bicycle. An infrequent bus service from Heraklion serves Pefkos about two miles away. Accessibility Last mile or so to hotel is on an unpaved but driveable road, steep driveway up to hotel. Ground floor rooms available with no steps but two raised...

The hotel is situated on a hill opposite the village Kato Symi, with stunning views on the village and the surrounding Dikti mountains. There are large gardens with a lot of local flowers, and the humming of thousands of bees is sometimes the only sound you hear. The host, Giorgos, is very friendly and helpful and has a lot to...

The accommodation was very satisfactory in aspect of cleanliness and decoration. A very serene scenery to sleep and wake up in. Late October though, at such an altitude, the temperature goes freezing after the sun goes down. The owner was willing to provide us with extra quilts for the bed, but was rather uncompromising when it came to us using...

We drove up the valley, and checked with a car on the way down that we were on the right road - the response was yes - you are on your way to paradise. And he was right!! Georgios, our host, was very welcoming, very informative, and obviously very proud of the whole area, suggesting places to visit or walk....

Almost 900 m altitude, in a small Cretan village, Akros Oreon is a nice small hotel. Built of stone, keeping it fresh even under the August sun, this hotel is recommended for peaceful holidays. Not close to the sea, not close to any facility such as bank, super market, etc, you will certainly need a vehicle to cover your needs....

I hunted up the hotel after seeing it online. We were the only guests in early October. It was beautiful. Georgios was gracious and fixed up the best, very romantic room for us. The air is clear and crisp. Lovely view. Tasteful touches at every turn. Excellent modern bathroom facilities. Excellent bed. I wished we could have stayed longer.

We stayed at Akros Oreon for only one night, if we knew that it would be so nice we would certainly arrange for more. The guest house is located in the pine forest with a great panoramic view to the mountain, the forest and the village of Kato Simi. The location is really great, peacefull away from the mass tourism,...

Stayed at Akros Oreon in July of 2011. On arrival we were greeted by Georgios broad smile and aroma of wonderful dinner being cooked by Anna. They are such warm and hospitable hosts! We were taken care of as if we were their family members. The apartment on the second floor was clean, cozy and spacious with a fireplace, TV,...

That is one of the best hotels that we spent holidays. Nice service!!! You can go to beautiful places like: the plateau of Omalos, the small traditional village of Kato Symi and exotic Lybian beaches like Psari Forada.!!
