Detailed Reviews
We just completed our 4th stay at this hotel. It' a bit hard to find, but worth the hunt.
The front desk gal, Vivian, absolutely made our stay more enjoyable. What sense of humor and good memory (knew our names and room numbers)
There's a wide variety of room choices. In addition, there's an excellent market across the street if you want to have your own picnic on the Continental's patio.
We really enjoyed our stay, and the location couldn't have been better!

Very friendly!! Accommodating, petit dejeuner had great selection and fresh. Customer service was excellent. Bed great! Our room was facing the street, otherwise I’d given a higher score. Dinner was fresh and very tasty. Excellent fish!

small, quaint, aged rooms await up a narrow, winding staircase. Our room would have overlooked the very nice patio area, except the fire escape was in the way - making the room kind of gloomy and lacking sunlight.
Tiny room, with a small desk and wooden chair (read, uncomfortable) - but the bed was very comfy. Small bathtub with a shower attachment - but no shower curtain... what's up with that?
The staff was very nice, and spoke some english, some more than others - while the restaurant shined - wonderful food at a reasonable price - and their wine list, while small and predominantly local, was nice and affordable (Perier-Joet Rose champagne for 60 E - not bad).
The rooms were quiet once the restaurant shut down (as most dined al fresco, and as I mentioned, our room overlooked the patio) - bad note on room 11 - it was right next to the housekeeping closet - which meant that there was considerable banging around beginning at 8 AM.
However the price of the room was quite reasonable, so all things considered, you could do much worse if Condom is your base of opperation for the area.

Seemingly the last room available, it was sold (over 100 Euros) as a superior room! It was two single beds (only one pillow each so glad it was just me) and was on the front of the hotel with the window about 3' from every passing truck. I have (sadly) spent 30 years staying in hotels for work and this was the worst night's sleep I've had in all that time. The road outside is incredibly busy so sleep was just not an option. Also, there was nowhere to hang clothes at all, the desk light didn't work and if there was any hope of dozing off through exhaustion, anybody else having a shower on that side of the building made it sound like my bathroom was going to flood with the sound of water. Never again.

We had pre-booked a night here en route to Collioure. Arriving early we dropped in for lunch where we experienced some standard-issue disinterest from Madame. An excellent meal, but spoiled somewhat by the the service, as Madame smirked at our efforts in French. We went off for a walk and came back to check in. Weirdly, in the intervening period, Madame had remembered that she could speak English. How odd.
Shortly after we went to the room Madame bursts in with a half bottle of champagne. I belatedly remembered something about a 'Romance' package when booking (it was the last of a series of many bookings for this trip, I wasn't paying attention). We went out elsewhere for dinner and Madame said goodnight as we passed her on the desk. In the room, I checked our booking and realised the Romance package had included dinner. Doh. Our fault for not paying attention, but we found it odd that Madame did not mention this during check-in, or in the evening as we passed her on the way out to and back from town. We waited to see in the morning if it was mentioned during checkout. Nope. Madame presumably hid around the corner while a junior checked us out. It wasn't a great deal of money and we should have paid attention, but really Madame - your attention to us was severely deficient.
The hotel? Noisy on the front due to the road, but closing the windows gave good sound insulation. Otherwise basic but OK. However the stairway and hallway carpets looked several days overdue for a vacuum - covered in food debris.
The weirdness continued at the Condom tourist office. Are there walks by the river we asked? Non! Undaunted we looked at the map provided at the office and a short while later found ourselves on a very pleasant riverside stroll during which we found the attractive-looking Le Moulin Du Petit Gascon restaurant which we booked for dinner and enjoyed very much.
Overall - give Condom a miss...

I went to Condom in August on a trip to the Gers. We stayed in the Hotel Continental for two nights. It was okay for us because we weren't really in the hotel that much, rather we were touring the area most of the day, having dinner then going to bed.
We were traveling with an 11-year old so we had two rooms with a common lockable hall door. The room was clean, but in my room where my friend and I were staying there was no door on the bathroom. Who doesn't put a door on a bathroom? It made it kind of awkward. The 11-year old had a door to his bathroom. I would ask specifically next time.
Otherwise it was walking distance to the village of Condom, which was very interesting. The Wifi was good and there was a little desk in the room so I could work a few hours. The breakfast coffee came from a machine, which I didn't care for. Also, there's no night porter. The desk is left totally unattended after 11 pm. I thought that was odd.
Don't expect anything but average from the Hotel Continental or you might be disappointed.

Having intended to visit the Michelin restaurant in Condom, the rain put us off trying to find it, so having seen this Hotel in the middle of the town, right by the river and with parking on the quayside opposite, we decided to go there instead.
The Hotel looks very ordinary and right on the road, but inside was a very pleasant surprise. Light, bright and spacious there’s also an indoor courtyard which must be lovely to use had the weather been better.
There’s a selection of menus starting at 13.50€ plus an a la Carte menu with a sensible choice of dishes. The staff were very helpful, efficient and the meal beautifully presented. Wines can be bought by the glass, bottle or ‘pichet’ of the local wines. We chose a half litre of rose at only 4€.

A nice hotel, a place to stay for a week or two. We especially enjoyed the garden with its wonderful restaurant. Delicious food. The rooms are small but comfortable. We can warmly recommend this hotel. The city center is not far away.

No one dancing for joy at the Continental !
We chickened out of the lamb curry and beefed about the meat.
What a shame when a place which was once good goes down hill.
This was the case when we lunched at the Continental Hotel at Condom. I had eaten there a couple of time a year or more ago and it was fine.
Today we had a table for 4 at 12.30h and for lunch it was already too late… The place was busy and the service very slow. The fixed menu for 14.00€ seemed like good value till it was served up.
A salad started with a small slice of raw ham and a little cheese and leaves, they called a Gascone salad. We had to beg for bread.
The other choices for main course was Lamb curry or grilled beef. Three of us chickened out of the curry and chose the beef. The former, according to my English guest had, not even a hint of curry. more like a lamb stew.
Three of us who chose the steak ,beefed about it as it was very tough and a really poor cut of meat.
Further more 1 of our lady friends ordered a gin and tonic, it was suspicious from the start as it had a slice of orange in it. Once empty, the glass has a distinct aroma of Pastis ! This was initially masked by the orange but not hidden when the glass was empty. We asked the manageress to smell the glass and say what it smelled of and she would not commit.
All in all it was a very poor meal and the service and attitude of the staff very dismissal ! A poor show in what used to be quite a good restaurant. Please not this is a review of the restaurant not the hotel !

The welcome at Hotel Continental is warm and friendly this sets the tone for the whole hotel.
Each member of staff treated me like I was really important to them.
The rooms are spotless, cool and airy with large windows. The bathrooms are also cleaned until they shine and you get plenty of towels and hot water.
I've stayed in two rooms 18 and 24 both had beds that were really comfy.
Room 24 has a separate bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a sitting room whereas 18 is a bedroom and bathroom.
The rooms at the front do get a little road noise but to be honest I hardly noticed it.
The food is good.
Dinner offers a lovely select of local cuisine and breakfast is a traditional French affair with pastries cheese cold meat tea coffee fruit and boiled eggs.
Overall I think this is a wonderful hotel and I'd stay here again as it's perfectly located for exploring the region.
