The good: Fenwick Shores is a boutique-style Hilton Tapestry brand hotel a block away from the beach. The lobby was clean, open and attractive. Check-in was quick. I loved the nautical, navy blue color scheme. We booked a coastal 2 queen junior suite with kitchen, bay view. This was by far the nicest room we have stayed at on the Delaware shore. Lots of room to spread out, 2 large screen TV’s, a sitting area, kitchen, large bathroom and outdoor balcony with seating. You can see the bay from the 2nd floor. Parking was conveniently covered and on ground level. We got the breakfast package and although not gourmet, everyone in our family thought the food was better than average. The coffee in the lobby was above average. There was an outdoor shower to get the sand off from the beach. The kids enjoyed the pool on the top deck. We picked up clean towels at the front desk daily with no problem. We booked this stay before the hotel opened its doors and during the Covid pandemic. We got a very good deal that was well below the current rate for our room type. I was impressed that someone called us before our arrival to check and see if we needed anything. The bad: I had high expectations for our stay. I expected staff to go out of their way to make us feel welcome, especially after the phone call. During our stay, all of the staff that we encountered were definitely friendly and helpful. However, I think that saying good morning, some smiles and extra effort would be in order for a boutique hotel at this price point. We only experienced this from 1 person (the blonde lady who worked at breakfast and up by the pool, sorry I forgot her name). Although check-in was quick, I had to ask about the hours for breakfast and how the breakfast package worked, the Covid policy with cleaning the rooms, and how to get clean towels. If you are facing the bay, you do get the nice view, but you will also hear road noise because it faces Rt. 1/Coastal Highway. The water pressure in the shower wasn’t great and there were not enough hooks to hang towels (only 2). Closet space in the room in limited. Although the breakfast was better than average, the pancakes and waffles were lukewarm. They charge $10/night for self-parking. Lastly, the hotel is expensive in the summer, very expensive. You are paying for what is supposed to be a high-end experience and the convenience of being 1 block away from the beach. The ugly: The room WAS NOT cleaned properly at check-in. There was a mix of sand, food crumbs and human hair ALL OVER the floor. I immediately went to the front desk to ask them to handle it. After housekeeping left, I started to look around the room a bit more and discovered that the shower was also not cleaned. There was hair on the shower wall and pink mold on the tile floor. There was also a fly and a fruit fly in the room. Later, I found 2 used tissues under the sofa cushions. I’m not kidding. There was no way the room had been cleaned well, much less Covid-level cleaned prior to our arrival. I smelled no bleach or cleaning solutions. Frustrated, we decided to let it go. We cleaned the room up ourselves as best as we could and handled the bugs. Management needs to figure out what is going on with housekeeping. I would have been livid had we paid the current listed price for our stay. This is how you lose return customers and it’s just not ok. The condition of the room was confusing given that the lobby looked spotless. I also saw staff cleaning the inside of the elevator from top to bottom. Where was this level of detail for our room? Conclusion: Fenwick Shores is a beautiful hotel that is one block from the beach with friendly staff that needs some help with how to be above average with customer service. This place has so much potential. Management needs to take a serious look at their housekeeping department. Guests should not have to clean their hotel room when their spending hundreds and thousands of dollars.…

If I could give this Hilton tapestry collection six stars I would! From the moment we walked onto the property and warmly welcomed by Nora we knew that Fenwick Shores was a special place, a true example of how a hotel should be. We were sincerely welcomed as honored Hilton diamond guests and provided all the promised amenities and then some. Thank you Nora! Daily ample gourmet breakfast was complementary as part of our Hilton honors perks. I recommend the avocado toast and the Fenwick flatbread. I have attached pictures of the menu for you to browse. If you are not a Hilton Honors guest, no worries I have also attached a picture of the regular guest menus including reasonable pricing. The portions were huge enough for sharing. Our suite as well as the entire property was immaculately clean. There was a modern exercise room and a beautiful roof top pool adjacent was a self serve laundry. In the evening their were folks enjoying socializing at the modern bar and café. Please see my pictures below for further reference. Everything is ultra modern, comfortable and I think management had anticipated guests needs and applied everything great about hotels to this property eliminating everything that is negative or wasteful. Little things like ample charging stations, lighted make up mirror in bathroom, luxurious bath and body works amenities, lots of hooks, a Kitchen with everything one would require to prepare a meal and a living area to relax and watch TV. Nice hotel. Convenient location. Rooms are roomy and comfortable. Parking is tight but had never had an issue finding a spot. Outside shower was useful after the beach. Lobby was nice and inviting. Lots of seating areas to relax there.

Room size was great. The hotel was very stylish and new. Great access to a quiet beach and all of Fenwick Island. Each room appears to have a sectional sofa bed. Great bathroom size. The balconies are lovely. The pool was cozy with a nice deck and views of the beach too!

This hotel is everything we were looking for in times when we wanted to avoid crowds. It is 2 floors high, therefore minimizing the amount of people in elevators, at happy hour, and at the breakfast area. If you are not a Hilton Gold or Platinum member, I would recommend the “ breakfast package”. They allow you to order off the menu, not limiting the amount of food you can get. The set up of the hotel is perfect. The back sliding doors allow you to get to the parking area and beach easily. They leave out beach toys, chairs, and other random beach things for the guests to borrow as needed. There is a shower to rinse off the sand if you choose to. We appreciated the covered parking area, keeping our car cool and out of any unwanted weather. The area has several very good restaurants (Just Hooked $$) and Warren’s Station ( more of a family restaurant $) directly across coastal Highway from the hotel. There are also some cute shops within walking distance. We had to go out of Fenwick island, however, to find things to do at night. That was not a problem for us. We had a King Coastal Premium room which was wonderful. It was large and had a safe, refrigerator, microwave,dishwasher and plenty of shelves and closet space. I liked the sitting area with L shaped sofas. That area had its own large screen TV and the bedroom area also had one. It was very clean. We asked twice during the week to have our room ‘refreshed’ where new towels and toiletries were restocked and the bed made and floor swept if needed. Everyone from the general manager Dante to the breakfast and pool servers Stacy and James to the front desk personnel were super efficient and friendly. The pool on the second floor is rather small and square in shape, but it was rarely too crowded. There are 4 ( I think) jets along the one wall which are nice for a back water massage. If you are a young family, with loads to carry to the beach, be aware that that there is a steep incline both to enter and exit the beach area. There are blue mats which make it easier to walk on, but if you are planning on using the beach buggy to haul your stuff, you may struggle a bit to get up the steep grades. Otherwise the beach is lovely and sparsely populated. This is a wonderful hotel for everyone. We saw families, couples of various ages, and girls groups.
