Fantastic setting. The guides were really expert. They were able to detect all kinds of animals and birds. They have a great sense of humor. The food at the lodge was also terrific. I really loved the feeling of being in a cabin in the jungle.

We had a group of 22- which included our high school students and teacher chaperones, I'm not sure who had a better time, because we all LOVED it! Carlos and Victory are the best tour guides I have ever had. They know animals, birds, insects, sea creatures, environment, conservation, local indigenous groups, and about the entire Peru. They enjoy doing...

We spent four days with Carlos as our guide in Wasai lodge. He took care of us from A to Z. Picked us up from the airport, planned the whole length of the trip, cared for our special food needs. We had varied tours in the jungle and he was very knowledgable and patient. The lodge is nice, if basic,...

To reach this lodge, we took a 4.5 hr. trip from Puerto Maldonado in an open motorboat. (Note: There is no bathroom, so be prepared.) Along the way we saw a capybara and a kite eating a lizard. We spent two nights at the lodge and took several hikes in the rainforest with our helpful and knowledgeable guide, Carlos. The...

We spent 4 nights at the Wasai Lodge on the Rio de Madre. Victor was our guide, and was truly the most knowledgeable, enthusiastic and hospitable host we could have asked for. After a comfortable ride out to the trail head, about an hour and a half from Puerto Maldonado, we enjoyed a 5k hike into the jungle and settled...

When planning our trip to Peru we initially were not thinking about the rainforest. Our travel company in Cusco suggested and set it up for us. Even after a good bit of research though it was hard to get a bead on what to expect. The trip to Wasai Tambopata Lodge was fantastic! You are assigned a guide upon your...

Starting from Wasai Puerto Maldonado a boat drove us and some other guests to the Tambopata Lodge surrounded by jungle. On the way we saw turtles, capibaras and many birds. Only my friend and I booked the long tour (5 d / 4 n) which meant we had our private guide Manuel who turned out to be an extraorinary good...

Firstly, if you come to this place expecting any common luxury, don't. It's not for you. This is an eco-lodge and that's exactly how you'll live when spending your time in Tampopata. Running water is a luxury here and you'll be sleeping under a mosquito net. Occasionally you may have an uninvited guest in your room. Ours happened to be...

The lodge and activities was a great once-in-a-lifetime experience. About a 3 hour boat ride from Puerto Maldonaldo. The lodge is very close to jungle with the associated wildlife sharing - Agouti, snakes, spiders, armadillos...the works. The huts have bedding with mosquito nets, no fans and no power. The lights are solar and there is no hot water at all...

It was a good jungle tour, but the price was too high for this place. There was no hot water, the food included was very, very basic. If you want something to dring, it is not included and you must wait a lot to receive it. Also the practice to ask full payment in advance by bank transfer was strange....
