This lodge has 18 guest rooms and 8 shared bathrooms. The rooms have fresh linens on the beds, netting to protect from bugs, fresh towels provided, fresh drinking water every day, clothes lines to hang out wet items, night stands, chairs and battery operated night light. Very clean! And the spacious bathrooms were extremely well kept and cleaned several times...

Amazing place to stay. Loved it. Very unique experience. I stayed in this 6 day 5 night classic in October 2013. The food, staff, walking, bird watching, and showers are something unforgettable. I rated this place better than any 5 star hotel.

I recently came back from the 4 day/3 nights Tambopata research center tour, with Rainforest expeditions. I rate this place as 5 stars based on my overall experience. Many people may not appreciate the open concept of the rustic hotel condition, including no 24 hour electricity, very weak wifi signal, public bathroom, etc, but those are essential to bring you...

Thanks so much to our guide (Juan Carlos, I believe?) who entertained all my ridiculous questions! We had an amazing time here. We were told it would be the rainy season, but we only had a few hours of rain total (and it was beautiful in the rain!). Since it was spring we got to see all sorts of baby...

We stayed at the research center for 4N/5D. It was unbelievable. Saay, our guide, was the very best. A guide either makes or breaks a vacations like this. Saay definitely made it for us. The food was varied and tasty. IT was HOT in Dec and the heat nearly did us in but we got to see what we went...

During our holiday in Peru and Bolivia we stayed in the Tambopata Research Center. We really enjoyed every minute of it. From the more than clay lick with more than amazing macaws and parrots to the small animals like fire flies in our hands and (not so small) spiders during our night walks. We were also able to see 6...

Four days living in a unique rain forest lodge was a wonderful experience. Our room was open to the sounds of the forest with howler monkeys first to call the new day in. next was our turn to rise early to explore the forest and observe its living creatures before returning for breakfast. All meals were wonderful, the lodge endearingly...

Two friends and I spent one night at Refugio Amazonas and two nights at TRC in early October. It was an experience that I will never forget. From the wonderful food, comfortable accommodations and helpful staff, the entire trip was perfect. I lost my cell phone our 2nd day at TRC. It fell out of my pocket onto the stones...

faboulous days in the jungle of Tambopata NP - 4 days/5nights - not go for less. We spent already 2 times in others jungle areas (brazil and bolivia), Tambopata is a simple, well organized, good sized lodge. food excellence, also as a veggie! best guide ever - ask for Michael - 😉.

The staff, the food, the guides, the rooms...all were amazing! A trip that I will never forget and recommend to others. Fresh hot coffee available early in the am when getting ready to head out for the day was a great touch!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is a spartan yet comfortable 18 bedroom lodge with 8 shared bathrooms. Because of its remote location in uninhabited wilderness, housing stable populations of endangered wildlife, the small scale of its infrastructure and operations and the presence of researchers and naturalist guides, Tambopata Research Center is an excellent headquarters for in depth explorations of Amazonian nature and wildlife. It is located in a half hectare clearing in the middle of the uninhabited portion of the Tambopata National Reserve, less than a kilometer from the world's largest and most diverse macaw claylick. ... more   less

“Be ready to deal with hot and humid weather and sleep with mosquito nets. Bathrooms are shared but the staff keeps them very clean all the time. The rooms are open (no windows). We were a little bit concerned about this at the beginning, but enjoying the sound of the rainforest during the night absolutely worths it.”
