The shared bathrooms were spacious with hot water and I never once had to queue as there are 4 for females and 4 for males. Food was...

Thanks TRC that let me have a very close touch with the forest jungle. A macaw flied into our room and drank a glass of water in front of us! Their food quality is always good and don't forget to taste their Coca cocktail!

Saay our guide was totally awesome. Very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and customer oriented. We viewed 5 species of monkeys in our first hour. Food was excellent. Accommodations rustic but adequate for the remote location

Everthing was good: food, rooms, trips through the jungle. A spechial Thanks to our guide Michael, who has shown us a lot of animals, which we had never seen without him. And it was in our language: German!

A nice choice to get away from the crowds and see part of the Amazon. While TRC is remote and rustic, the relative lack of creature comforts are overshadowed by being immersed in nature. While we were there during the dry season, there was still some wildlife to be viewed and almost no insects. I understand things change with the...

Pre-trip admin was very good. Extremely helpful staff. The transfer from Puerto Maldanado airport to the river was very good. Our first overnight was at Refugio Amazonas, which was a beautiful lodge, with ensuite facilities. Lectures are worth going to - very informative! Evening trip along the river to see the Cayman, and managed to see a very rare dwarf...

it was one of the stand out highlights of a fantastic trip, our guide Jean Carlos was wonderful, found & showed us very many animals (sadly not a cat though!), Loved the open rooms, enjoyed the food more than anywhere else in Sth America.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Tambopata Research Center (TRC) is a spartan yet comfortable 18 bedroom lodge with 8 shared bathrooms. Because of its remote location in uninhabited wilderness, housing stable populations of endangered wildlife, the small scale of its infrastructure and operations and the presence of researchers and naturalist guides, Tambopata Research Center is an excellent headquarters for in depth explorations of Amazonian nature and wildlife. It is located in a half hectare clearing in the middle of the uninhabited portion of the Tambopata National Reserve, less than a kilometer from the world's largest and most diverse macaw claylick. ... more   less
