What a fabulous place. We stayed here last minute after not being able to get accommodation in Bendigo. A blessing in disguise! Stunning décor, great rooms and very friendly hospitality. A must if you are in the area.

We stayed just the one night at The Empyre, in the McGuire Room. Very comfortable, compact room with a quality bed and bathroom. Add the inviting living room / library, a breakfast with a variety of choices in the breakfast room / bar and and a perfect host, and you have a quality B & B right in the centre...

Two nights in the Albion ("run away from home") suite at The Empyre will restore spring to your step and roses to your cheeks! Sip a welcoming drink in the cosy sitting room, luxuriate in the fine decor of your suite (truly decadent bath!) and check out the locals from the stately wrought iron balcony. Enjoy a particularly tasty omelette...

A really great hotel and fantastic people. We enjoyed the luxury of beautiful antique furniture, slick bathroom and excellent breakfast. Hosts were warm, helpful and very solicitous of my slightly frail mother and father-in-law. Right in the middle of town, and we were sorry it was a midwinter trip so we couldn't take advantage of the lovely outdoor courtyard.

You probably won't expect a small hotel of this quality in a regional town. The location is perfect for Castlemaine based activities, the facilities are excellent and the beautifully restored building is a treat. The generous breakfast is a fantastic way to start each day and the small bar a perfect way to finish.

Stayed here on the way back home from a road trip. And what a fabulous way to end our holiday in such a special and exquisite hotel it was! Everything was just perfect; the spacious room with the sitting area & the fireplace, the beautiful chandelier, the huge balcony overlooking the centre of Castlemaine, the XXXLL King bed, ... Stayed for 2 nights on a long w/e and were lucking to get a cancellation. Room was large, period furniture, everything we needed was there although the TV and the fridge were a bit small but that didn't concern us. Comfy beds, good heating (which was needed), quiet and we slept very well. Rear parking, a common lounge area and...
