Excellent stay at the Thayer. The staff was wonderful and it was great to see people dining at the hotel as well.We were greeted warmly by the staff. The hotel and grounds were kept in fantastic condition. We watched as they started to decorate for the Christmas holiday. So much fun to see!!!

Hotel's Favourite
We stayed in the Thayer for 7 nights as a family. It made for a wonderful home-base at West Point. The staff and employees were all tremendously hospitable and accommodating, even carrying our luggage up stairs where there was no elevator access. The fireplace was always roaring, we were always asked if we needed anything, attention to detail is a priority for them—the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The Thayer is a true piece of West Point history—the architecture and decor on the inside is a continual reminder of where you are, who you are among. It felt like a privilege to *get* to stay there. The building itself feels like a museum and is so authentic to the soul of West Point. The food was amazing to all of us. (Especially having just returned from being stationed in the UK wink wink.). I recommend the drunken monkey bread. So fun to eat and really delicious. I was so bummed that Zulu time was off for the season, it’s one of the best places to gather in the WP/HF community. If you are there during Zulu Time season, your stay will be over the top!! The views of the Hudson are simply stunning. I loved looking out the window throughout our stay, just to see the current color of the river. Our stay was made more convenient by the Thayer’s proximity to Highland Falls... it was nice to be able to walk into town to grab a snack or a quick meal to support the local community. Overall the Thayer has done everything they possibly can to provide a world-class hospitality experience to all of us who love and adore West Point. Support what they are doing!! Do not stay anywhere else!

My partner and I wanted a room with a view of the river and a king-size bed that was also handicapped-accessible. (I have MS and walk with a cane.) The woman on the phone said no handicap rooms were available with those specifications, so I told her handicap was not necessary; I would make do. Two days before our arrival, the hotel called to greet us and ask if there was anything we would need. Abashedly, I requested two very soft pillows. She said she would note that. In every way, the hotel went out of their way to accomodate us. When we arrived, they had placed two shower chairs in the room for my convenience. The room was charming and comfortable, and there was a window seat in front of the window to see the magnificernt view of both the river and the hills beyond. And among the pillows were two squishy, wonderful ones! When we left for the wedding we were attending, the bellman put stanchions in a near parking space as my partner does not have a hangtag so that when we came back, we would not have deal with the biting wind and the steep climb. The bellmen, the front desk, the unseen help were wonderful.

This was an excellent choice! The hotel is beautiful and perfectly located in such a scenic area. We were there to visit a cadet but I would definitely love to go in the fall when the leaves are changing. It is expensive but worth it for a treat.

Thank you for staying with us-we are blessed to be in a beautiful location on West Point and that our hotel is in the center of so many wonderful things to do and see in New York's Hudson Valley. Please do come back for leaf peeping--it is amazing to see the mountains light up with gorgeous fall leaves. Safe travels!
