Our room was simple, no frills but clean. Refrigerator, TV, and AC all worked perfectly. The bathroom is small and it would be great to have an exhaust fan in there, but again it was CLEAN. Owner is very friendly. It’s about a 20-25 minute drive to the Lake Mirror/Lake Placid area.
Last minute stay. Owner / clerk very nice and accommodating. Was a steamer of a day and the pool was beautiful! Cool, clean and surrounding seating very nice. Room was updated, very clean, working fridge, everything you need. Nice setting near all the mountain biking and swimming holes. Holiday week $127 for a double. Bed not luxurious but did the trick. Thanks, will be back for sure.
Me and my wife travel a lot, and usually stay at upscale hotels. We made a last minute decision to go to the Adirondacks region for this Canadian thanksgiving long weekend. Every hotel and resort in Lake Placid and vicinity seemed to be booked, and couple of hotels which were available seemed to be not worth the ridiculously inflated prices they were asking for per day ($500 to $800). So we took a chance and booked this place since it was available. The following is our review: Checkin: Quick and friendly. Note that you have to press a buzzer and someone will show up. Wifi: Pretty good speeds. I had to take a couple of work related Skype presentation calls, and there was no issue. I did a speed test and saw i was getting 27Mbps which is pretty good. There was no cell phone coverage in that area, atleast on my phone. But a couple of minutes of drive away you can get phone coverage. The Room: Pretty basic, no frills. Has an AC, electric heaters, 2 double beds, dresser, TV, microwave, a small table with couple of chars, a lounge style chair etc. The room looked dated but clean . The washroom was small but clean too . The water pressure in the shower was as good enough. Parking: Ample parking. Summary: No regrets at all about booking the place, and glad we took a chance. It delivered good value for the price and gave us an opportunity to enjoy the area in this super busy weekend. Me and my wife were good with it despite being high maintenance people :-)…
We pulled in here at the last minute to grab a room. Hotel desk/owner was very helpful and informative. Rooms were clean/adequately stocked and within walking distance to everything. Across the street from the gas station so that you can easily access coffee in the morning.
First of all let me start by saying that I hate to give negative reviews... My experience at the Grand View was mixed. The check in experience was fast and pleasant. The motel and grounds are well maintained. My room was very basic but clean and appropriate. The negative is that the bed was absolutely the worst I have slept in. I could feel every spring in the mattress and it was extremely uncomfortable resulting in a terrible nights sleep.. Also the exterior door to the room was an indoor hollow core door that gave me concerns about safety.
