We enjoyed our stay very much. The room smelled very clean, the owners are very responsive. We loved the design and stylish ambience. The fresh croissants, bagels and muffins at breakfast were absolutely delicious. We also liked that apples. oranges, tea and hot cocoa were available throughout the day. The swimming pool was great, although the water was a bit chilly. The sauna and the hot tub outside were nice. I would suggest putting a coat hanger in the swimming pool to hang your coat during the winter. Also, some chest of drawers in the room would help (to store clothes). A note to those who don't have a car: there is NO shuttle bus service to Windham mountain ski center. You will need to book a local car service to get there (for 20 usd).

My sister & I had plans to go camping at nearby North South Lake Campground but nonstop rain made us go to "Plan B", that was to come here & we were so glad that we did. We found the Hotel Vienna to be perfect for our needs except for one, hard-to-ignore issue. We loved the contemporary, European feel to the hotel: it's large-windowed front, balconies, perfect, Zen-like decorative touches, wood beamed ceilings, the multiple outdoor fire pits & multiple porches to hang out on under large umbrellas, its downstairs lounge that offers free movies & yoga sessions, charging stations for EVs, the very welcoming & helpful Holly @ the front desk (she went to the downstairs storage area to find me a Keurig with decaf coffee pods when I saw that there is no decaf coffee available @ breakfast), its wonderful indoor pool & perfect-sized sauna, its proximity to the 2 mile Windham Path, & last, but not least, the biggest croissants you'll ever be offered at breakfast, and an owner who is everywhere, fixing, tweaking, helping, cleaning, you name it. It was everything we two sisters needed to get out of the rain except for the one issue we encountered: we were in room 210, which is situated directly above the office/staff room & staff members, according to hotel policy, smoke on the balcony outside that staff room & the smell of their cigarettes wafted up to our balcony over & over again, as well as seeping in to our room. We would have sat out on our balcony more, enjoying the view, but the odor of cigarettes made that too difficult. Do not let this sway you from coming here, it is a great place & I would happily come here again but DO request not to be in room 210, if cigarettes bother you as it does us.

Hotel Vienna is a little gem! Jacob, the owner makes every effort to make guests feel welcome and relaxed in a beautiful environment. Scandinavian decor gives a lovely upscale feel while being inviting and clean. Beds were comfortable and each room has a deck with chairs. The property is well cared for with a walkable path including a covered bridge. The pool house has been recently updated, as the rest of hotel has been. There is also a hot tub. There are decks with lounge furniture and one with a fire pit. The is an additional fire pit on their lawn. Outdoor games are available like corn hole. The downstairs, inside lounge contains comfy couches, bean bag chairs, and tables and chairs where you can hang out watching the large screen TV (Netflix included) or play one of the many board games they provide. A continental breakfast is included (bagels, croissants, oatmeal, apples, oranges, dry cereal, granola, coffee, tea, orange juice) with an indoor and outdoor place to sit and eat. Hot drinks and fruit are available all day. We were told all the bathrooms are getting completely renovated to match the rest of the hotel. Regardless, they were clean and the shower had excellent water pressure! We chose to stay a second night once we were there since it was such a relaxing environment! I highly recommend staying here!

They lied saying “hotel friendly” 50$ per day per dog and you cant leave the door in the room alone to eat because one of them is barking. The “manager” went after us AS WE WERE stepping out of the hotel. And when we went back to get our dog , the one barking was already quiet like i told him. “ she will stop barking , in a less than 3 minutes.” And she did. But thank God i decided to go home because i saved almost 400$ because thats what that motel atmosphere charge including. And the continental breakfast 😂 forgot it. Its only bread, milk , coffee and juice . “Filtered water” which the water from the bathroom was yellow whole time, apparently they were working around the area. No restaurant to eat within the facility. No activity to do. Like a said A MOTEL EXPERIENCE.

We just had a lovely 2 hight stay at the Hotel Vienna in Windham, NY. The hotel is welcoming and the rooms are spacious and clean. All the rooms have balconies with chairs.
The bed and pillows are surprisngly hard. However, if you do not have back issues, it should not be a problem.
The hiking trail is spectacular and not to be missed.
The breakfast is fine. The coffee was great and so were the croissants. I wish the staff was more aware of proper sanitation. It would have been much better to leave containers open or have individual creamers. rather than having dirty fingers opening them over and over with every use. Having hand sanitizer on the shelf next to the milk containers with a reminder to use before touching would be appreciated, at the very least.
Lots of families with young children used the pool and seemed to have a great time!
All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

The hotel is in a beautiful location, but is old and neglected. I made the reservation 2 months in advance, I spoke by phone to avoid problems and ask if we could have 5 people in the room (my husband, my children and I) or if I rented 2 rooms, they told me that there was no problem that we could stay in a room, but when I arrived the manager made a drama and charged us for 2 extra people in the room per night. I also told them that we were going to ski, that we could walk, they said yes, but 33 minutes on foot carrying the skis and boots?
They offer pool hours until 8:30, but if you arrive at 7:00, they tell you that you can't get in because they just put chemicals in it. The bathroom has such a small curtain that a large part of the bathroom gets wet when it's time to bathe.
The hotel staff is very friendly, except for the manager who is rude and always seems to be angry.
I definitely wouldn't recommend it and would never go back.

Wow, is all I can say. Not only is there a beautiful breakfast room with outdoor seating, lounge and indoor pool area, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, giving this an Austrian feel as the name implies. The grounds allow for outdoor BBQ pit and located on the Windam path. Other people didn't like the continental breakfast, but with organic yogurt, fruit, muffins, granola and the best croissants I have ever tasted, there is more than enough to keep you satisfied. Since we got in late, it was nice to have room service for some finger foods, which were more than enough to share. If you book directly from the hotel and stay 3-nights, sign up for the Staycation package for your wine package. The wine and beer selection are exceptional!

Clean, comfortable hotel, but what I appreciated the most was the supportive bed. This was the first hotel that didn't have marshmallow beds that are caved in on either side. For some reason, some people think a soft mushy bed is luxurious? I don't get it? The owners and staff are very accommodating and created a facility that met all our needs: from great shower pressure to a beautiful trail right out the back of the property. Thank you! We hope to come back again soon!

I recently spent a Saturday night here while skiing for the weekend and overall it was a good stay. It looked like they've made somewhat recent upgrades to the furniture and light fixtures (at least in our room) to give it more of a rustic mountain vibe, but it still felt more in line with a motel experience to us.
One of the main reasons why is the continental breakfast was very disappointing, especially for the price paid for the room. I'm sure it's been changed/limited in some ways due to Covid, which I definitely understand, but not even considering that, the packaged options provided were very low quality (basic Yoplait, Cheerios, unhealthy muffins & oatmeal) and for fruit, there was a bunch of completely unripe and inedible bananas. I think that a few upgrades would go a long way. Breakfast is served in a nice little room with a gas fireplace so there's definitely potential.
We weren't able to enjoy the pool & hot tub because of Covid, but note that it is in a separate building across the parking lot.
The location is just outside of the main town area and a 5-min drive to the ski hill, so it's very convenient.

Response from Hotel Vienna, Owner at Hotel Vienna
Responded 5 Mar 2021
Thank you for the review. We provide a basic complimentary continental breakfast for our guests and at this time we are very limited in what we can serve as items need to be individually wrapped for guests safety. There are other breakfast options in the area serving full hot breakfasts and we even offer a discount coupon for one of the restaurants. Due to covid restrictions our pool and jacuzzi are closed at this time. Thanks again Rick

We had a really great experience all around. The hotel is spotless and well appointed. Small touches made all the difference. On Friday night we were greeted but a friendly receptionist and mulled wine. We enjoyed the lounge area hang out spot with the big screen tv and board games. Our room was nicely decorated, comfy beds, really comfortable arm chairs and a nice desk to work from, if we wanted. The bathroom had a back lit mirror that we could dim the light and the tv was also back lit which provided a nice night light. In the summer the balcony would be really nice to sit in. The entryway to the room had very well thought out storage for all of our ski gear so even though we had a small space, we were able to easily fit and organize all the coats and ski boots and gear for 2 adults and 3 kids. Mini fridge was great for storing some fruit and sandwich materials. The included breakfast was a hit. For adults we enjoy yogurt, oatmeal, bagels, and coffee and the kids loved the warm chocolate croissants and orange juice. We also had a good time swimming in the pool after sling and we enjoyed “the barrel” sauna. We’d definitely stay again on our next Windham ski trip.

We apologize for the delay in getting back to you. The hotel was closed for a few days while we did renovation work. We would be happy to cancel your reservation without charge. Please give us a call, at your convenience, with the details so we can take care of this for you.

Within the Catskills, most stores are Mom and Pop owned with some cooperative antique stores. We do not have outlets, however there are a few within about 1 1/2 hrs. Having smaller shops keeps the area breathtaking, and the service excellent.

Yes, I would say definitely - the indoor pool and game room downstairs in the main building offer space for kids to play (Supervised of course), and the Windham Trail is a great way for kids to see and learn about different varieties of flowers and fauna.
There are more places to choose from in the Windham area.
