We're a group of friends who have known each other through long-standing careers in the hospitality, fashion, and food & beverage industries. Together, we wanted to create a special place to bring together friends and families, make new memories and escape the city. Eastwind was born in 2018 when we found this property, a gem with sweeping views of the Windham Mountain in the Catskills.

My husband and I visited with our dog Riley for a long weekend in the Catskills. We booked last minute after a problem with our planned accommodations at another glamping site. We stayed in the hill house king room. The room was very cozy and cutely decorated with a nice couch/sitting area, very comfortable beds, and a nice bathroom with rain shower. The rooms are located right at the top of the hill and offer several fire pit areas and beautiful views. I do wish the rooms had a small refrigerator. Also note, the rooms have no TV, but we liked unplugging.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating and they send you a text at check-in with area attractions and recommendations for breweries and restaurants. They have weekend activities like yoga and on Saturday they had a DELICIOUS a communal BBQ for $50 pp—so worth it. They also provide s’mores kits and we enjoyed hanging out by the fire pits and gazing at the stars.

The main house has a beautifully decorated bar and lounge area with games. The grounds have trails and a sauna and a nice hammock lounge area to relax in.

We very much enjoyed our stay and we really enjoyed chatting with the employees at the hotel—they all went above and beyond to be warm and welcoming!

We had an excellent stay at Eastwind, largely due to the entire staff who bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable, safe and fun. From my email exchanges with the team prior to booking a room through our last night, the staff were responsive and did everything they could to show us a great time, which is no small feat during the pandemic. Everything we wanted was a text away, and everyone we encountered was wearing a mask at all times. They delivered a lovely breakfast basket, complimentary beanies, mulled wine and snowshoes and delicious cocktails to our room on demand, which really made our stay special. They even got the sauna and fire pit going AND delivered a s'mores kit our last night despite it being 13 degrees out.

We stayed in the King with Sofa in Hill House and it was perfect for a couple and a pup. The view of Windham Mountain from the room is stunning, and it was so convenient to park out front and walk our dog right outside. They do an amazing job of keeping the parking lot and paths walkable, even with over a foot of snow on the ground and snow showers throughout our visit.

The room is exactly as pictured on the website, with a beautiful spa style shower and a comfortable seating area, which is clutch for takeout dining. The fridge is also super helpful, and it holds quite a bit. My only complaint, which I have with a lot of chic, modern hotels is that there's nowhere to put anything in the bathroom. I fully appreciate the minimalist aesthetic, but a little shelf or table would be so helpful to have a place to put your toothpaste & eye cream. Another note for high-maintenance types-the only mirror is in the bathroom, so a travel mirror would definitely come in handy.

Be sure to walk up the road behind Hill House, especially on a starry, snowy night when the trees are lit up beautifully. The trail is also a lot of fun with snowshoes during the day. Not being skiers my husband and I had never done a winter getaway in the northeast before, and Eastwind showed us how fun it can be.

I look forward to visiting again, and I could see it being a totally different but equally fun experience in the spring, summer and fall. It's a really special place for a fun and stylish break from the city.

The Eastwind is unique and has character, making for an especially memorable weekend getaway from NYC. When venturing out from Manhattan, I was looking for a place that was close to nature and allowed for easy social distancing. This hotel fit the bill: we stayed in the Lushna A-frame cabins for two nights over the long weekend, and it was perfect for what we were looking for. Close to a number of different hiking and walking trails (the short Windham Path within 0.25 miles was lovely for a jog in the evening). Private entrance to the Lushna, with no need to cross paths with other guests indoors. Also very instagram-able, btw.

The Lushna themselves are rather basic with just enough room for the bed. It’s not luxe, but it’s comfortable. The separate private bathrooms (within a few feet of the Lushna) are decent sized with a nice shower.

The outside communal area is large and has a huge fire pit (great for s’mores) and multiple small grills for BBQing. We enjoyed meeting the other guests (coincidentally almost all couples in their 20s and 30s from the city) and socializing with them outdoors in the evenings. Breakfast can be ordered for $20 pp and brought in a cute picnic basket. Guests can also order wine, beer and beverages. Bjorn was a gracious host. We would definitely recommend the experience.

Absolutely dreadful experience. We visited in July, the off season for this region, and at a 300-400 price point for a basic room you would at least expect fresh towels or turn down. And if that needs to be requested, you would hope that it would be made explicit. Instead, at check in you have to push through a crowded bar to get the bar tenders attention to check in, and then if you need anything it’s the same story. Lots of lipstick in the room, and i guess some people will fall for it. Plenty of other better hotels in the area, or even airbnbs, at this price point. Never again.

1) - Every photo you've seen of this place in Conde Nast/ T + L/ every 'where to stay in the Catskills guide' is of photos taken when the place just opened. It does not match, feels incredibly dirty/ poorly maintained/ unloved.
2) - They are seriously understaffed - and by that I mean there are no staff! Just a sad, crumpled message on the reception desk to say 'check in at the bar' and when you go there another sad 'we are a small team and not here right now'. Thanks for the warm welcome!
3) - The cleaning products made me feel sick - even though the place felt incredibly unclean - (not a feeling, it was filthy - the stairs, crumbs on the furniture, dust everywhere). They said there was one member of housekeeping at the property which if you do the maths on turnover time...
4) - May seem cheaper, but upon reflection, the Wylder next door at $70 more or thereabouts, includes bikes, mountain and electric, and a plethora of activities and space. There is no proper outside space at Eastwind - not even to sit.
5) - I was told to check in and check out by my phone when I found a staff member, but I didn't receive any messages by phone or email, despite providing when booking, again when I first encountered a human, and so I don't know what happened there.
6) - Suffice to say, I couldn't get out of there fast enough the following day. Dear owners - you actually have to continue to maintain your property once you've opened it. That's how it works.

Beautiful hotel and property in the middle of nature. If you’re ok with limited staff presence on the property and no housekeeping then you should go for it. The rooms are nice and the decor is natural and modern. No TV or fridge, etc. Windham is not a big town but this location is by some good diners, not far from other towns with cute main streets, and the beautiful Windham Path.

The best escape from NYC, just 2.5 hours away. We stayed in a Lushna which is tiny, but so cozy. The room is about 220 square feet, with just a bed, a lantern, and a heating unit - perfect for time away from devices (though they do have quick wifi). The bathroom is detached and really nice, with plenty of space for luggage. The staff goes above and beyond to make the stay comfortable and special. With just a text, they will start a fire, prepare the sauna, deliver cocktails, mulled wine, and a breakfast basket, and give recommendations of things to do and places to eat in the area. Such a cozy experience, and you are guaranteed to leave with a calm mind.

We just had an amazing few days in the Lushna. This place is the perfect balance of being close to nature while still being comfortable.

Our Lushna was comfortable and temperature-controlled. It was also steps away from a roomy, and private bathroom. Some other highlights of the experience - amazing sunset views, private firepit with s'mores, the breakfast for two (which I thought was a good deal at $30 considering the portion sizes), and very welcoming and helpful service.

I will also say that they took excellent precautions for Covid. Abundant hand sanitizer, contactless communications and checkin/out, everyone was wearing a mask, and the Lushna concept is pretty much the definition of social distancing.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend just to relax and unwind and this was the absolute best place to do it. We stayed in the Lushna which was the cutest splurge to go for. The grounds are beautiful and there is plenty of different spots to relax or walk around. Bikes are provided to get a little father if you don't want to drive to town or want to hit up other local hiking trails. Bjorn was the absolute BEST, i can't stress that enough. He was nice and accommodating, answering any questions, providing drinks, and even grilling a camp wide dinner (which was great by the way). We also sprang for the breakfast basket for the first morning which was worth every penny and filled with fresh fruits, warm baked goods, and anything else you could want. We will be recommending this place to friends and will definitely come back again for another weekend getaway.

The Eastwind is a gorgeous spot, under the radar spot upstate. While the rooms in the main building a little on the smaller side, the lushnas and lushna suites offer an absolutely extraordinary experience. You feel like you’re in the middle of nature (because you are), staying a lovely wooden cabin, each with its own hangout area and fire pit that’s lit for you by the staff every evening (who also bring blankets and s’mores to make the evening perfect). Their sauna is great - we used it in the mornings and then walked back to our room barefoot in November whether which felt so refreshing and magical. It’s got a real mom and pop feel to it, with positive and welcoming service and an owner (Bjorn) deeply dedicated to making sure his guests feel comfortable. Thanks to Bjorn, Eric and the team!
