Pros: room is quite spacious, recently renovated, including seemingly new furniture and bathroom fixtures. Shower was surprisingly large. Very friendly front desk staff. Lobby was nicely decorated and cozy with a fireplace, free coffee and tea in lobby. Only a 5 minute drive to Windham Mountain (free shuttle available). The hotel is right next door, in the same parking lot, to Hickory Hill Market (open from 6 AM to 11 PM and very convenient for getting any food and other supplies, including fresh fruits, vegetables, and prepared food, plus brick oven pizza and a deli). Free wifi worked well. Small refrigerator in the room. Although did not go there, there is an apparently nice although pricey restaurant in the hotel.
Cons: walls between rooms are a bit thin, occasionally had television connectivity issues, toilet sometimes had a weak flush, not much toiletries available in the room. No in-room safe. Not many places to hang towels. Bed was large but mattress was a bit lumpy and not the most comfortable.
Overall great stay, very convenient to Windham Mountain. The hotel has an outdoor pool across the street but it is only open in the summer. I would definitely come back here again.
Housekeeping did a great job. I usually find something amiss but not this time.
Our room had a balcony which looked out onto Windham mountain. We enjoyed the views while having our morning coffee here, compliments of the hotel.
The area overall is peaceful and relaxing. The weather was beautiful, sunny and warm, so we took advantage of the heated salt water swimming pool. It's only a short walk directly across the street from the hotel and our room, #233.
Staff were friendly and accomodating.
We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at different restaurants close by. When we return here we will definitely go back to Zicatelas 2 ( Mexican cuisine), Albergo Allegria (gourmet brunch) and Chicken Run ( homestyle cuisine).
Although every employee with whom I had contact was friendly and helpful, the accommodations were dismal.
The room was awful. There is no sink in the bathroom. The tub did not hold water. The entire room was painted in a prison green color creating a depressing atmosphere. There was only one mirror and it was nearly useless because of the two bulbs on either side of it nearly blinding one's vision. The pillows were hugh hunks of foam, completely uncomfortable and bad for one's neck alignment. There is absolutely no counter in the bathroom so there's no place to put a toiletry bag. There's no table so if you bring in a snack you have to eat it while holding it on your lap; not even a place to lay down your fork while you eat. No one even bothered to service our room on one day; on the other day I requested that it be cleaned. The room is charm-free. It was really depressing to be in; it was devoid of even a little comfort. The lighting was awful, adding to a depressive atmosphere. It felt like an institution to me. No closet; just a pole in the room with a few hangers.
I was so excited about staying here and was thoroughly disappointed. I am writing this only in the hope of averting someone else from experiencing the same disappointment. As I sat in the common area, I listened to the staff members answer calls from prospective patrons and took note of the tremendous difference between their descriptions and the reality.
What a shame.
