We had a pleasant experience at this Best Western.Great helpful employees and the breakfast was delicious. They had coffee available all day and that is a favorite perk of mine. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.
I strongly recommend staying at the Best Western Mountain Lodge at Banner Elk. The location is perfect - close to great restaurants, hiking trails, the Alpine Coaster, ski resorts (in the winter) and a variety of other interesting sites (including the original General Mast store). The staff is professional, accommodating and friendly; always willing to assist. I've traveled a lot for business and stayed in a number of hotels. I can honestly say this is one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in. It's evident that the staff works hard - the rooms are immaculate and the beds are comfortable. I enjoyed my first visit so much that I made a reservation for the following weekend, which also was an excellent experience.
No breakfast, no extra blankets, room was bot cleaned doe two days. Building is old and falling apart. I do not recommend this hotel. The only good part was the location. 10 minutes from Sugar Mountain.
Good location, friendly staff, and complimentary breakfast. Room and amenities were clean. Beds were comfy and heat worked well with 20-40 degree weather.. Tub was clogged but not a major deal. Room was clean, as were the amenities. Place is a little dated but who cares unless you're a snob. The location is right in the middle of places to see a a few minutes from Sugar Mountain. Only problems that we're minor for us were the occasional rude guest with their kids running amuck during breakfast with those same people taking more than their fair share of breakfast items, and people with poorly-trained dogs. Not much you can do about that though and not the hotel's fault. Would stay again.
When you arrive at the Best western you are greeted with a Scottish Highlands themed lobby, and the employees were very nice and cordial. The room is nice and quaint with a no-frills appearance. The bed is stiff, and the pillows are too. Bring your own soap and shampoo maybe even a noise machine to drown out the Ambiant noise of the neighbors around.
Clean rooms. Good location. Room are very noisy and dated. You can hear everything outside and from the connecting rooms. Hot water takes forever and doesn't get very hot. Breakfast was the worst I've seen.
Didn't know we had booked during the small town Christmas in Banner Elk . It was just like the Hallmark movies. Was magical down to the lobby of the hotel. Our friends received a Christmas tree package from a local Christmas tree farm. That was something new I'd never seen from a hotel before .
The room was very poorly taken care of. Instant odor when you walked in. Floors were very dirty, and we had several spiders and webs on the ceilings. We had to switch rooms as soon as we got there because they put us in a very unsafe location where construction was taking place, and they never notified us before arrival of this. For two women staying by them selves we felt very unsafe and unclean. The beds were hard as a ROCK, not even exaggerating. Not to mention we paid 200 dollars a night for what was a glorified motel 6 room.
My daughters wedding was at a local venue. The scenery in this area was very nice. But also had access to so many other conveniences as well. Some great restaurants, like the Pedalin’ Pig or the Asian restaurant just down the street. So good!
The price was high at over 200 per night. Lots of renovations going on, dusty. They will only clean room and bring towels if you stay more than two nights. I would maybe stay there again but definitely not at that price.
