Condo 11–802 is small but adequate to house a couple for a weekend. We brought our two kids and it was pretty cramped. The fold out sofa had crumbs on the mattress and there were flies on the floor in the bathroom - in February? This place is in dire need of a true, deep cleaning… the knobs on the oven were sticky, while cooking I felt the continuous need to wipe my hands… we noticed when pulling the trash bag out from the trashcan: There was an old toothbrush at the bottom, and it the bin was lined with some type of brown gunk. Since this is a tiny studio and the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen are all connected- the general funk is a lot more noticeable. This particular building is very far from Oma’s meadow and there’s a huge hill to walk down which could be dangerous when icy and is also very strenuous when walking back up with boots and skis. Pros: granite countertops in the kitchen, fireplace was great for warming up gloves, amazing view from the deck and the outdoor furniture was sturdy- the deck provided a great place for wet skis and boots after hitting the slopes. We arrived at 6pm just as Black-tie ski rental arrived with our boots and skis. There was limited space in the lobby for fitting- no seating. Otherwise, the check in process was easy but they do require a $2000 deposit which they mail back to you in the form of a check even if you give them cash at the counter. They also have no idea when that check will actually arrive - that has the most ridiculous deposit I’ve paid anywhere. The building itself is decently quiet, perhaps because it is so tucked away. We were there for the weekend before Presidents’ Day and the slopes were packed. Please think twice before putting yourself and loved ones on the slopes on Saturday night unless you enjoy snow machines spraying you with blinding ice crystals that feel like needles in your face while unmanaged drunk & high teenagers nearly behead you from behind using poor judgement and lack of snowboarding control.…
We stayed in a two-bedroom condo, #436, for three nights mid-February. It was plenty of room for our family of four. Our boys had their own twin beds, and we had a king bed. The boys’ beds were a little firm, but our bed was comfortable. The living room was cozy. The kitchen was just what we needed, and we enjoyed the dining table for meals and games. The heaters worked really good! They kept the condo well heated. The hot water was just as we expected from reading previous reviews. Space out your family’s showers, and you will be fine. Our favorite part of the condo was the view of Oma’s Meadow and the surrounding mountains. What a blessing to wake up and drink coffee while watching the sun come up over the mountain. Beautiful!
First, I stayed in unit 213 and you could walk outside and hit the slopes in about of 200 ft, This was great because the purpose of the trip was for my grandchildren to experience snow. The unit definitely needed some TLC, but I could tell that from the pictures. What I couldn't tell was the cabinets all had crumbs in them, food was on the pots and pans, things were thrown in the cabinets. The silverware was sticky. It did wash off. The backsplash ledge left a washcloth black, this was not over the range. I thought, the bathroom isn't bad, until I shut the door. It had probably been over 3 months since anyone swept behind it, yet washed. I washed down walls and cabinets as I was mortified (nice way to spend vacation). I started to question the beds. I removed the sheet to find the master bath bed pad disgusting, slept on the quilt, which I'm sure they won't sanitize. When we left, my poor granddaughter pulled a pair of dirty men's underwear from under the bed. This was rented through the resort, so I can't and wont say this is true of other units. This is during the COVID pandemic. All other stops were meticulous. Pictures are representative of things that washed, though the moldings definitely need paint, if they were clean, that wouldn't upset me. I also couldn't figure out the antiquated heating system. It was too hot, rather than too cold.…
These rentals are in a perfect location to be able to visit everything in the high country. Short drive to all places. Must see grandfather mountain and drive to blue Ridge Parkway. Boone is a lot closer than we thought. If you have difficulty navigating stairs this may not be The choice for you. As much as we loved it we did have 16 stairs going down to the unit and then another eight going up to the room.
Very nice accommodations for all year. Great snow this for skiing in February. We are up now, I am from Florida, and really appreciate the cool weather. The units are individually Owned. I use 531. The unit has been completely upgraded and is very nice. There have been major renovations at resort which is now finished. The club house and pool have not been replaced from a fire. I highly recommend.
We stayed here 12-15 January 2017. Great location for ski-in/ski-out, literally a 5 minute walk to the slope. Our unit (10-801) was well maintained and had everything we need for whatever length stay (even small toiletries since we forgot ours!). I would not even try to have more that 2 adults and 2 kids, it is small, but accommodating for our needs (2 adults). Good parking and easy to find. When you get to the top of the mountain, go left to the front office to check-in...no signs. We will try to stay in this exact unit every time we come back, and we will come back!
We had a great time. The property is being completely renovated; new siding balconys, etc. I have stayed in the Winter. Has ski in ski out. There is a golf course close by. I have stayed in the summer. Nice cool weather. I have stayed in Oct. spectactular leaf change.
Ideal location for summer, fall, or winter vacation. All units are individually owned so decor varies but all I have seen are comfortably furnished. Staff very helpful. Rooms are not handicap accessible.
The view alone was worth the 5-hour drive here. The condo is beautiful and well-maintained. It was supplied with everything that we needed. We did have an issue with the heating in the bedrooms but once we called maintenance he arrived in less than 5 minutes and it turned out to be a flipped switch in the fuse box, so it was an easy fix. Also, since the pool, sauna, and hot tub were unavailable due to the recent fire we were given a 15% discount on our stay. We are not avid skiers - this was our first time - but we will definitely return just to visit the area.
Located on the top of the ski run called Oma's meadow. You can ski in and ski out. Unit 531 is a great unit. It appears to have been recently upgraded. Comfy beds, new appliances, wooden floors, granite counter tops, etc. The unit is on the top floor and gives you a great view in the summer, during ski season, and for fall color.
