These rentals are in a perfect location to be able to visit everything in the high country. Short drive to all places. Must see grandfather mountain and drive to blue Ridge Parkway. Boone is a lot closer than we thought. If you have difficulty navigating stairs this may not be The choice for you. As much as we loved it we did have 16 stairs going down to the unit and then another eight going up to the room.

We stayed in a two-bedroom condo, #436, for three nights mid-February. It was plenty of room for our family of four. Our boys had their own twin beds, and we had a king bed. The boys’ beds were a little firm, but our bed was comfortable. The living room was cozy. The kitchen was just what we needed, and we enjoyed the dining table for meals and games. The heaters worked really good! They kept the condo well heated. The hot water was just as we expected from reading previous reviews. Space out your family’s showers, and you will be fine. Our favorite part of the condo was the view of Oma’s Meadow and the surrounding mountains. What a blessing to wake up and drink coffee while watching the sun come up over the mountain. Beautiful!

We have stayed many times @Sugar Ski & CC & have found it to be quite a lovely area for all seasons. We prefer unit 324 (2nd floor unit w/a least amount of steps which is good for family) with its lovely accommodations & decor. The kitchen is very well equipped with all the essentials & then some. It is a very clean, neat, home-like unit. The location is perfect for the mountain views, ski slopes & convenience to the amenities of the club house. Only a short walk to the pool, hot tub, sauna & tennis courts. The staff (office & maintenance) being on property is a great plus should an unexpected problem arise. They are so personable & helpful in every way. I highly recommend this unit (324) to all. You will not be disappointed.

First, I stayed in unit 213 and you could walk outside and hit the slopes in about of 200 ft, This was great because the purpose of the trip was for my grandchildren to experience snow. The unit definitely needed some TLC, but I could tell that from the pictures. What I couldn't tell was the cabinets all had crumbs in them, food was on the pots and pans, things were thrown in the cabinets. The silverware was sticky. It did wash off. The backsplash ledge left a washcloth black, this was not over the range. I thought, the bathroom isn't bad, until I shut the door. It had probably been over 3 months since anyone swept behind it, yet washed. I washed down walls and cabinets as I was mortified (nice way to spend vacation). I started to question the beds. I removed the sheet to find the master bath bed pad disgusting, slept on the quilt, which I'm sure they won't sanitize. When we left, my poor granddaughter pulled a pair of dirty men's underwear from under the bed. This was rented through the resort, so I can't and wont say this is true of other units.
This is during the COVID pandemic. All other stops were meticulous. Pictures are representative of things that washed, though the moldings definitely need paint, if they were clean, that wouldn't upset me. I also couldn't figure out the antiquated heating system. It was too hot, rather than too cold.

We recently stayed at this location and I agree with previous reviews about the room being old, dated and dirty. The bath mat in the bathroom was disgusting, dust and dirt was clearly visible on window ledges, and wall paper was peeling throughout the unit. The ski in/out is only applicable to more advanced skiers as the run is an intermediate. No real views of the ski runs, but the snow making equipment could be heard throughout the night. What really annoyed me is that the rental rate is $100 a night for the unit we stayed in (10-501) but by the time a "damage protection fee" of $45 and a "processing fee" of $49 was added on our costs were significantly more than we had planned. We never used the wood burning fireplace as you had to purchase the wood for an additional fee.

Also, be warned that this property is at the top of a very steep hill and chains or studded snow tired are required according to the flashing sign at the base of the hill. This information was not clearly communicated to us, and it appears that the folks who manage the property are accustomed to ignoring the signs as when I addressed it with one of the hotel staff the response was "oh, that's just Sugar Mountains little warning sign". Really? I'm grateful that the weather cooperated with us and our little front wheel drive Escape was able to make it up and down the mountain without an issue but it was a nerve wracking drive up and down the road leading to the property.

I won't come back to this facility. I think there are more economical options elsewhere with better amenities for families.

Sorry you found this Economy unit not up to your standards. Regardless of the décor and age of the furnishings, you should have found it clean. We are not a hotel but privately owned condominiums...each with different owners who have different styles. We are very upfront about our location at the top of Sugar Mountain on the intermediate ski slope, Big Red. I too am glad your Ford made it up and down without any issues. The price we charge does reflect our excellent location on the slopes with access to our indoor heated pool, sauna and hot tub. Thank you for letting us know of your concerns about this unit. Hope Harvey Property Manager

We booked a bedroom Deluxe condo online for Thanksgiving weekend. The condo was exactly what showed online and accommodations great for our family of 4. The staff was very friendly from call in to our actual visit. This was our first visit to Sugar Mountain and we found it exactly what we were seeking. The pool was clean, our condo was immaculate and the view was outstanding. It was a nice surprise to have all the things we had forgotten already there: dish soap and detergent, coffee filters, paper towels, toilet paper, garbage bags, etc. We will definitely return here.

We spend most weekends on the slopes and continue to try new places to stay (slope side) each weekend. We've stayed at Sugar Ski and Country Club twice this year. Our first visit we stayed in a Deluxe room (decor was outdated to my preference but room was clean and all appliances worked fine). This past weekend we tried a Premium Condo in building 3. After a season of finding the perfect condo location (we stayed at several), I found it! Recently updated throughout. Decor was my style, very compfy and homewarming. I like having all small things there instead of packing each weekend...dish detergent, paper towels, toliet paper, garbage bags, etc. The staff was extremely friendly when checking in. My kids favorite part is enjoying the hot tub, sauna and pool which is always clean and a short distance away-out the back door fr our condo. Staff members have been in there each time we've been there checking the chemicals. Which is a positive as well.

After spending a full ski season trying several "on the slope" locations, Sugar Ski & Country Club (in the premium room we had) is our ideal weekend gateway for next year or possibly looking into buying a condo there would be nice as well!

Hi, So glad you settled on "your unit" at Sugar Ski! We look forward to having you back. We re-evaluate units each Spring and place them in one of five categories - Economy, Comfort, Deluxe, Premium and Superior. Our Premium unit owners have taken special care in the updates and appointments to their units making them as close to their own personal homes as they can. The Deluxe unit you visited might be ready for Comfort status as the qualifications for Deluxe have changed since we added the Economy rating. We have something for all price and preference levels from basic and clean to updated and appointed to the nines... so to speak. See you next time! Hope Harvey/Property Manager

Unit 213 was very clean and updated. Master bed was super nice. I was a little disappointed because I thought being on the bottom floor you would not have many stairs and could walk right off balcony out door to ski. You had to go down 2 small flights of stairs, but we were within easy walking distance to Big Red. I did not like however that we had to get into the car and drive to purchase our lift tickets and to rent gear. If you have your own gear will not be a problem, you can just board or ski to lodge, and get in a free ride.

We stayed in a two bedroom unit over the New Year's holiday and loved it. It is great for the kids to have their own room and a kitchen to make our own meals. The units are a bit older and the kitchen needs to be updated, but the unit was great overall and very functional. We had a great view from Building 8 and, although we didn't ski, we enjoyed watching everyone else. Only other complaint would be the constant buzz from the snow blowers. Became background noise at some point, but it can be quite loud.

We rented a great condo. I could see the kids get of the lift from my nice warm room.
The condo was in great shape. They had a fully stocked kitchen. They had everything we needed. It is a great place to stay with easy access to the slopes.

Hi, Unfortunately the entire structure was destroyed by the fire. We are hopeful that our new clubhouse and administrative offices will be open by the Fall of 2017.

Did you go in Feb. and the ski-in and ski-out was not open? In which unit did you stay? Mary
Answer from John A

We went in February. We were able to ski and snowboard using the lift right outside our backdoor. It was great. We stayed in unit 412. It has a bedroom with a queen bed and a bedroom that had two sets of bunk beds. So it will sleep six easy. It also has its own washer and dryer. Hope this helped. John
