We were very disappointed in this festival because there wasn't much to do. There were about 100 or so vendors but most were Christmas ornaments, pottery, or jewelry. There was a couple handmade wooden signs but they were very rough cut and couple crocheted hat booths. It cost $20.00 to park and 21.00 to get in for 3 of us. We spent about 40 minutes at the festival and this included walking from the car around the festival and back to the car. Didn't see what all the hype is about.
My wife and I stayed here in one of the rooms on the lower level. This inn has more of a hotel type feel with standard white doors on top of each other and rooms connected by a connecting door. We could easily here the people talking in the next Room until they went to bed at around 12:45.. Also, the floor upstairs would creak anytime somebody would walk on it which was very loud below. This went on until about midnight and started backup when they started to prepare for breakfast at around 6:00 a.m.. Also, the inn overlooks a major road so you will hear traffic throughout the night and early morning. There are no curtains on the windows and there are cracks in the door so the Room gets a lot of light throughout the night from the hallway light as well as early morning light through the window. Our host April was very nice and the breakfast was really good.We will not be going back.…
This place is all about some southern hospitality and service! Super Friendly with a wonderful breakfast with a wonderful overlook! Classy Inn with a very clean and comfortable room! We had a lovely fireplace with wood and kindling provided! Very Romantic! Free Firewood also if you have a room with a fireplace. They had many other amenities to make sure you have enough to do, eat, and drink.
What a fabulous weekend! A group of 8 women enjoyed the Inn at Elk River for a weekend of great friends, great food and great fun. The Innkeeper was excellent. She greeted us at the door making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The Inn is as beautiful as it is comfortable. The included breakfasts were delicious! (We enjoyed spinach quiches and pineapple pancakes.) The Innkeeper, Apryl was terrific. She checked in on us and was there if we needed anything. What a great place to share with family and friends! The 8 bedrooms and baths fit our group perfectly and the two sitting areas and sun porch gave us room to spread out. This is definitely a trip we want to make again soon!
We truly enjoyed our stay at this inn. Patti made us feel welcome from start to finish. Breakfast was delightful, especially the yogurt parfaits. We spent time reading by the fire with a glass of wine in the evening. The inn is tucked away in a quiet location yet still convenient to the local restaurants and activities of the area.
Patty the Innkeeper was wonderful! She went out of her way to make your stay pleasant. My room and bathroom were spotless. Patty even brought coffee to my downstairs outside entrance. The Inn needs a lot of updating. It’s very dated. It was 24 degrees when I was there and the heater barley worked in my room and the ac window unit allowed cold air to come in. One of the heaters was behind a big dresser. The only reason I would stay again would be to see Patty.
We really enjoyed our short stay at the Inn. We stayed in room No. 1, which was very large and comfy. It had a beautiful fireplace and access to the balcony overlooking the mountains. Priceless views. Patti, the innkeeper, gets five stars from us. We really enjoyed her company and servant heart. We are giving The Inn at Elk River four stars due to the pricing compared to other local alternatives, the roughly paved driveway up and down the property, and the thin walls. Otherwise, it was a great stay and we will come back the next time we return to Banner Elk.
The innkeeper was very friendly and welcoming. The room was smaller that what it appeared in the photographs but very clean and comfortable. Great accomodation for the price. My husband loved the french toast!
We spent last weekend at this lovely inn. Our room was very comfortable and had a spectacular view. The deck which was just outside our door was a great place to sit after dark and see so many more stars that we can see at home. Cool evenings and mornings were a blessing. Our innkeeper, Patti, was delightful and eager to please. The complimentary glass of wine, snacks and cold water were very much appreciated. This is a great place.
My husband Ralph and I spent 3 nights in June together with our dear friends Mindy and Gary, and though the entry and exit from the inn were less than ideal, we were instantly made to feel at home by Doreen Duff, the innkeeper as soon as we arrived! The decor is definitely 90's but kept immaculate by Doreen, and her breakfasts were excellent. The mountain view in the dining area coupled with the breakfasts provided an unbeatable setting to enjoy a great meal. We hope to be able to come back again, maybe for the Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain next year! Thank you, Doreen, for your gift of hospitality which makes us want to return!
