We had a nice room when we ask for clean towels and cloths they brought them right away with shampoo and body wash in case we were out, also more coffee pods to make sure we had plenty. If your like a soft mattress you will love theirs, we slept fine. I will have to say I was not crazy about the towels they were too ruff. The night before we were leaving I dropped something it went under the bed , I can say for certain under the bed, also night stands no one had cleaned under them in a long time! We usually stay at another place but waited to long to book. It wouldn't be my first pick but would consider staying again but will inspect under bed and night stands.

From the moment I arrived until I checked out, my visit was completely enjoyable. The cottage we stayed in was very comfortable and had everything we needed! It was the perfect location to spend a few days with my daughter. The location was perfect to have access to all that quaint Blowing Rock has to offer and it was also convenient to Boone where there were additional opportunities to explore. We opted to cook several meals in the well appointed kitchen, and were able to also enjoy the variety of nearby restaurants. It was very quiet and peaceful, our room was clean, and we loved the little stream behind our room. We will definitely stay here again!

Was disappointed there is no breakfast, but was told the city of Blowing Rock changed the code and it would have been expensive for them to convert an area to be able to serve food. The central check in area was closed a lot of the time due to the pandemic and being short staffed. Our room was very nice. The front desk staff called our home phone # to communicate with us. Not sure why they didn't just call the room. I had no idea they were doing this until we got home. It was nice to be able to call a # on one of their brochures to ask for more towels and such. A great location. We enjoyed sitting on the little island in the middle of the lake and enjoying the view as well as walking up the road to see the Christmas parade.

We have been staying at the Village Inn for approximately 15 years. We originally found it as it was the only pet friendly place to stay. We always stay in one of the suites. The last few years we have noticed a steady decline in the care of the Inn to the point where we will never go back. The wood floors are disgusting! I don't think they are ever cleaned. There are throw rugs that have to be 10 years old and never been cleaned. We started to bring our own sheets and pillows with us because you don't know what has or hasn't been cleaned. It's pathetic. They even quit maintaining the grounds. There were places along a walk way where bushes were growing over that you could barely walk through. Overall, it's a mess and needs new management and people that want to bring it back to what it used to be. It's a shame because it really was a nice place to stay and our dogs loved it to.

Reserved Cottage 122 for 3 nights. The place is SO RUN DOWN and dirty. The sofa and chair give you a back ache. The bedroom looked nothing like the pictures. The sheets were put on wrong side out and as thin as a kleenex. I had to go to Goodwill and buy pillows to support the sinking sofa. There was 2 forks, 1 teaspoon, 1 salad fork in the kitchen drawer. No dishwasher tablets or liquid soap, so I bought some. The pillows were really lumpy and flat. The bed was extremely soft with no support either. I paid $150 for my pets, and for that I expect that the rooms be CLEANED if others brought pets. I wanted to get a mop and clean the grime off of the floors, but that is not my job. Overall, I was glad to get out of Blowing Rock. It is not longer a pleasant vacation spot.

Please, please don’t make the mistake I made this weekend and ignore the more recent 1 star reviews of this place. Online and from the road this place looks absolutely charming, I just couldn’t believe the negative reviews. It must have been fantastic at one point. I read the reviews that the place was dirty along with hundreds of others that called it perfect....This is the nastiest hotel I have ever stayed in. I have attached as many pics as this site allows so you can see for yourself. The fellow that checked us in was very nice, it was snowing the inn looked lovely. But as stated in previous reviews in spite of the snow, no fire in the fireplace, the walls behind the counter were strung with cobwebs and the undecorated Christmas tree is still sitting in the corner. We were only there for one night and had our pup with us so decided to go ahead , no matter what. We stayed in room 106, a king room. Nice size room, impressive sized closet, adorable deck overlooking a creek and fire pit (no wood) with several grills and picnic tables, bathroom was small but functional. We also had a mini fridge and a microwave. The decor was very pretty. It reminded me of places you see in horse country. Beautiful floral fabrics, dark wood etc. very equestrian. Now for bad news. I spilled some water and grabbed a rag to wipe it off the floor....OMG I think it has been MONTHS since anyone mopped the hardwoods. They were in a word, disgusting. Then I began to notice the painted panel walls are chipped, the pine rings are bleeding through the paint as they do when pine panels haven’t been primed properly. There were hunks of toothpaste and tooth paste splatter all over the bathroom window, walls and doors. Indicating no one is wiping them down at all. There were stains on the white bed sheets. Then we noticed mold and fuzz growing in the cracks in the paneled walls under the Mitsubishi heating and ac unit. Black mold was growing all along the vent of the unit. We paid $134.00 + a $25 pet fee. They got me for one night, it was my mistake. I had been warned and chose not to listen, please learn from my mistake.

This place was probably an older motel, back in it's day. Price for one night was reasonable, $145.00 plus fees. Place was almost empty, right off of the highway in Blowing Rock, NC, that leads to Boone. Walking distance to the Main St. in Blowing Rock, However, up a hill is where you have to go. The women that worked there, said they have other properties in town, closer to everything. Room was clean, had a small back balcony, that looked over a stream, it just needed to be blown off, no big deal. Had a larger deck, off of the main lobby, which was also nice for sitting and having a glass of wine. Lobby very comfortable and clean, as well. Bed was fine, small sitting area in the room itself, was also nice. Showering was a bit of a challenge, old school tub, with a circular curtain, old plumbing fixtures, mixing hot and cold was hard to achieve, For the money, nowadays I would recommend at the above price. Excellent restaurant, called "Twigs" was a two minute walk, one property over, had a nice bar in it as well, Opens at 5:00 PM.

Take care, the website misrepresents, this is neither an inn, a lodge nor a motel. It is a motel. We paid $329 I think about $125 given it was peak season would be reasonable. So for this amount what did I get? A run down motel room. The big stuff: uncomfortable bed, ancient mattress, scratchy sheets and covers -- not sure if there was much cotton insight. The bathroom sink did not drain. There was nothing to put a suitcase on to open it... bathroom floorboard heater didn't work. So to conclude, this is a rip off and a case study in why you need to be careful looking at a website when booking a room. What a rip off. The owners are laughing all the way to the bank.

We booked a stay at the Hillwinds Inn for Easter Weekend. It was disappointing to say the least. Upon checking in we immediately noticed they couldn’t even be bothered to hide all the wires and cable boxes beneath the wall mounted tv. With small children we were constantly trying to keep them from pulling on all the wires and ripping the tv off the wall. On top of that, they had an electrical cord mounted to the top of radiant floor heating. When we returned from dinner the cord was burned as well as the plastic zip tie holding it down. The beds were old and squeaky. Sheets were scratchy. Rooms outdated. Pictures on the website are not accurate at all. They consider themselves “pet friendly” as most hotels and Inns these days are. Little did we know that would mean pet hair all over the bathroom. There is nobody in the office at all because of Covid so good luck getting to talk to a staff member in person. They gave us two towels to start with. We had to call for more towels between 8-12. They are making a killing for minimal staff and amenities. We paid almost 500.00 for the weekend and it was an absolute rip off. Beware! This is the second one of these Village Inns we’ve stayed in and we should have learned our lesson after the first. We will not be staying here again and can’t wait to go home to our own comfy, clean bed!

I stayed in the Appalachian Suite for two nights. The furnishings , bathroom, and bed were very nice. It had a very large flat screen on the wall in the sitting room - 70" at least - that was a fun surprised. The day before my arrival, I received a call telling me how to get my key "in case" no one was in the office. Frankly, I do not think anyone was ever in the office. I never saw it open during my stay. That did not cause any problems , it just felt odd to never see anyone during my two night stay.

Yes, in certain rooms and cabins. You have to note when you book that you are bringing a pet. I believe the few was 25 or 50. Can't remember exactly.
