There were paper signs posted all over the front of a clear divider separating the desk employee from the public. Among other notifications, I read that masks were required and pets were not invited. However, the first thing I heard after check- in was a barking dog that appeared to be in the next room. Although the noise ceased quickly, the screaming child nearby did not. How many hours does a child have to scream before a parent acts like a parent? In this case at least a few. Probably the kid got tired and gave up. The goliath above our first floor room also gave up stomp pacing after a few hours. Nice. But I was tired and the sheets were so soft, so I slept well despite the racket. In the morning the breakfast was a less than delightful sugar filled carbfest. Did they at least serve reconstituted eggs? Yes, a wonderful addition to a butter free, half and half free morning. If this breakfast buffet was a curated display of the least expensive fake foods available it would win a prize. I opted for some very weak black coffee and ignored the junk food. Checking out was a new experience too. There was no one at the front desk. Searching lead me to the kitchen where the food prep service was done. The front desk representative was multitasking. She said she would be right with me. Obviously, she had to change her chef's hat first. Knowing that a person cannot be in two places at one time I was pretty curious about the situation and determined that it was not due to lack of potential employees, but more likely a cost cutting effort. Sure the hotel's pricing is reasonable, but adding an employee for a few breakfast hours and providing butter, half and half and a few sugar free selections would make the hotel a bit more guest friendly.

Stayed here last minute. Very clean hotel and reasonably priced. Staff was friendly room was newly remodeled with modern furniture. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was a typical hotel breakfast. Had the basics bagels muffins eggs bacon yogurt fruit. We would stay again. PS good cheesesteak at Foggy Rock in Blowing Rock. Good Breakfast at Sunrise Grill in Boone.

As through travelers, we stopped here for 2 nights to hike for a day in the surrounding mountains. Pros: our room was spacious and cheery; bathroom had a roomy stand-up shower. Egg sandwiches for breakfast, though packaged, were yummy when microwaved. Cons: the refrigerator in our room made a loud popping noise about every hour, waking us at night. Internet worked for me but not my wife; won’t work at all with a VPN. Mattress was comfortable but sloped on both sides, indicating it is past due for replacement. Summary: the pros slightly outweighed the cons for overall good value.

Super clean and quiet, with friendly staff, a great location, a large bathroom counter, good quality bedding, plenty of parking, and good wi-fi. The breakfast staff worked very hard to clean and re-supply. This hotel has been a favorite for years. Excellent stay!

When we got there our room was not ready, which was fine. We asked when it was available to please call and we would return. My husband had some work on his computer to do. We never got the call, so we went back much later. We got checked in. No apology. The door to adjoining room would not securely lock. They finally got someone to repair it. The next morning there was a tiny bug on the floor of the bathroom and another larger one under the towels. I went down, ask for someone to come up and take care of it. No one did. And finally, when we checked out I told the young lady of our stay. She offered no apology or empathy. I did ask her to please have management to call me. I have not heard anything. VERY disappointed in the customer service. On a positive note, the lady who served breakfast was EXTREMELY nice. She make you feel like you were at your grandmother's.
