Another fantastic vacation at DogWoods Retreat. This time we stayed at the Tree Frog cabin which is another luxurious, cozy, and clean cabin. The dogs enjoyed the fenced in area for many hours. Huge thanks to Will for bringing supplies for the freezing rain warning issued shortly after our arrival. We stayed inside the cabin the entire day and played monopoly! We had so much fun. Can't thank Will and Nan enough for their hospitality and efficiency. We lucked out with the weather.
We took our two rescue golden retrievers and stayed at the White Squirrel. Fantastic cabin; spotless, comfortable, quiet, cozy, a ramp into the yard, fireplace, and so peaceful. The dogs enjoyed playing in the yard and roaming around the large fenced in area. It truly exceeded our expectations. We drove from Florida and arrived after dark. After a twelve hour drive and driving up to Cantrell Mountain, Nan and Will met us to show us the way to the cabin. The next day we saw a white squirrel and deer. Everything is close by, enjoyed visiting the waterfalls in DuPont Forest. So much to see, we already booked a second trip next year. It was the perfect place for us to relax and be with our dogs. It is a wonderful retreat for dogs!!!!
My wife and I and our Australian Shepherd stayed in the DogWoods Retreat Tree Frog cabin the week of July 25, 2020. We could not have been happier. THE CABIN AND CLEANLINESS The cabin was in perfect condition, exactly as shown on their website. It was spotlessly cleaned and fresh as could be. You would not even know they host dogs in the cabin – not a spec of dog fur was to be found. Even if you do not have a dog, this would is a wonderful place to stay. Will and Sylvia do a great job readying the place for visitors! The beds were memory foam beds, extremely comfortable, and the bed linens were very nice. We slept great. There were extra blankets and linens in the closets, and there were plenty of towels. High speed wifi worked great. Two TVs with Dish TV. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils, cookware, and appliances - everything needed for a nice week’s stay. There was also a Weber charcoal grill that we used a couple of times! The hot tub was clean and worked great, and a welcome amenity after a long day of hiking. We did not use the fireplace (summer), but it looked great and would be wonderful in the winter. The yard was big and fully fenced. They even fenced in crawl spaces (e.g., under stairs) to ensure your pooch cannot escape. COMMUNICATION Nan was great at communicating with us at every step of the reservation and check out processes. She was very responsive when we texted with questions while there. She even sends a very helpful email with details on local supplies shopping and activities. THE AREA The cabins are all on Cantrell Mountain. They are about a 12 minute drive to downtown Brevard. These cabins are centrally located to all of the places one would want to visit – Brevard (downtown), Pisgah National Forest, DuPont State Park, the Highlands/Cashiers, Chimney Rock State Park, and the Biltmore. If you’re looking to visit some or all of these places, then DogWoods Retreat is the ideal location to stay. DOG FRIENDLINESS We could not have been happier with the dog friendliness of DogWoods Retreat. The yard was fully fenced. Dog bowls, beds and towels were provided. There is an outdoor water spigot with a short hose to wash your pup if you get muddy on a hike (our dog was muddy on one day, and we washed him outside – perfect)! CONCLUSION We loved this place, and so did our dog. Nan and Will do a fantastic job, and we could not recommend DogWoods Retreat more highly!…
We like to travel with our dogs and sometimes it's hard to find a nice place and town that is dog friendly. I can not recommend this enough. The owners are very friendly and quick to reply to any questions or needs. The check in was extremely easy with no off site office to go to first. The cabin was extremely clean, inside and out! It was a two bedroom and two bath with stocked kitchen and washer and dryer. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck while taking in the view of the stars! Our dogs enjoyed the fenced in area that was accessible from the wrap around porch. It was nice not to worry about them going where they shouldn't. The cabin is setting in a very peaceful area with a great view of the sunrise atop the trees! There are so many waterfalls and hiking trails near by to keep you and your dogs busy. If you prefer to shop, the quaint town of Brevard is only about 10-15 mins away with small town specialty shops. Most of these shops allow dogs as well. Grocery stores are nearby, if you prefer to cook yourself or there are restaurants nearby if you want a break from the kitchen. It was a fantastic experience! Do yourself a favor and take advantage of this great cabin and town!…
