Fun, clean, comfortable, kitschy 50's themed motel that was recently in an indie movie (Rosebud Lane) and Google commercial. Met the new owners who are investing even more into it. Had already replaced the mattresses and are working to put vintage looking appliances in the rooms next. There is even a larger standalone building you can rent if you have a large group.
We loved this retro motel. It was roomy enough and well equipped. Staff was helpful and friendly. We plan to stay there again.our room was quiet even though the hotel was full and we saw some guests with dogs. The recommendation Brian gave us for dinner was outstanding. (Quixote)
Had two rooms for one night at this lovely motel and will definitely come back. Rooms are in the "old school" motel style and we really loved the touch with the record player. We listened more to Dolly Parton that evening that we have done in our entire life (not so sure about the Fantastic Four-record though). There is also a back yard with hammocks and a fire pit and the motel is within walking distance to the cozy Brevard downtown.
The hotel was very conveniently located on the main hwy. Check in was easy. The office was closed due to lack of staff, but my key was outside. Room was very nicely decorated! There was a turntable in the room! Coffee maker was there too. Bathroom was clean but no exhaust fan. Maybe because of the weekend, it was a bit expensive, especially since there was no breakfast included. Wifi was good. TV had a good selection. Room opens outside. I stayed only one night.
I really wanted to like the sunset motel more than I actually did. With the sunset motel being number one on Tripadvisor’s list for Brevard, my expectations were high. Pros: clean, pretty decor, great location, parking. Cons: no one in the office to personally greet us when we checked in at 7 PM… A note was left on the door that stated due to rampant levels of Covid infection in the area, etc. there would be no one in the office. (Our motel room key & info we’re left in an envelope outside the office). I was unaware and still am unaware of any rampant Covid cases in Brevard, NC. The street the motel is located on is very busy and noisy. Part of the motels outside decor includes cute lighting that came on at night but that shined brightly through the motel windows making it difficult to sleep. Bathroom door was not level and kept closing when you wanted to keep it open, but it’s an older property so things like this aren’t uncommon. Upon checking out, there was someone in the office that I was able to personally drop my key off with but I have to say he was not overly friendly. I’m not trying to be harsh but you can tell when someone is just not really interested.…
Spent one night in Brevard on our way home to Kentucky from South Carolina. Nice clean independent motel a few blocks from town with a 50's vibe. The rooms are not large but worked well for two people. We checked in late and left early so did not spend much time at the motel but was a good value with character you wil not find at the chains.
My wife and I just recently stayed for three nights over Valentine's Day weekend to get out and do some hiking and mountain biking in Brevard, and sunset motel was our obvious choice for this time of year. The price alone is all the reason you might need, but also it's proximity to all of the local dining and small shops. Also an added bonus it's only a 10 minute drive to The Pisgah Forest ranger district to get outdoors and enjoy the area and it's natural beauty. The motel was no frills. You get a fridge, microwave, TV and a hot shower along with clean beds. From what I understand, there are also many improvements in the pipeline for the near future that we will be looking forward to enjoying during future visits. 10 out of 10 if you aren't looking for a resort.
My husband and I decided on a last minute trip to Brevard as a music listening adventure to 185 King. In looking for another local business to patronize I happened upon The Sunset Motel and what a lovely find! We stayed in the king suite which absolutely adorable; a true step back in time. We enjoyed our stay so much that we decided on checking in for another night. Since our suite was already booked we were lovingly offered the cottage in behind the motel to experience. Again, a wonderful find! Two bedrooms, full size kitchen, living and dining area... Plus, we saw three white squirrels out the back of our kitchen window! Apparently Brevard is the white squirrel capitol, who knew?!! Bottom line, if you're looking for a stay that's so much more pleasant than a big chain clone, check out this precious roadside treasure. Extremely clean, updated bathrooms and just enough vintage to feed the soul.…
We came up for a long weekend during one of the biggest snowstorms in years. The sunset motel was way more than we expected, we started in a regular hotel room with 2 queen beds which was perfect and just want we needed. We have 2 dogs with us and it’s only $20 per pet for your entire stay. As the weather turned and was predicted to get worse we ran into the owners who offered us to stay in the cabin in the back for a small fee which was absolutely amazing and they did not need to do. I would stay here again for sure, we had a kitchen, living room, 2 queen beds a rollaway bed (which we did not need and all the comforts of home). I would highly recommend this motel to anyone it is close to downtown, cute and the owners are amazing!!! We will be back for sure!
Colorful 1950's exterior, run by gracious, involved, friendly staff. Could not ask for a better experience. Appreciate how beautifully updated room was available to share with our bundle of fur. Sounds of other dogs muted by physical facilities; staff treated us like family. will return any time we are near Brevard in the future.
