We were told our room was "steps from the ocean". Not exactly true. They failed to tell us that the room was on the second story and not "6" steps from the ocean. I found the ceiling in the bathroom was falling down. I found broken slats on a blind. The return vent for the air conditioner was extremely dirty...not sure when it had been cleaned. And there was a note on the fridge to make sure we left the room as clean as when we found it and make sure we emptied all our trash in the dumpster. Plus next to that note was an envelope for tips for the maid. My tip is simple. Please see to it the room is in fact clean, including the return vent on the HVAC system. And maybe it would be a good idea to fix the ceiling in the bathroom, before it comes down on someone. When you pay Hilton Hotel prices for a place, you should give Hilton Hotel value.

Our family has stayed here many times over the last 9 yrs and this will be the last. Never had such a negative experience. Dirty/wet towel in the bathroom at checkin. We were not even sure the room had been cleaned. Air filter filthy, husband is an asthmatic had hard tme breathng.Grass was overgrown and got a tick.Reported to manager at check out, didn't have much to say except he would address issues with cleaning staff. Disappointing that the manager never apologized. I spent my hard earned on these subpar accommodations and staff don't even seem sympathetic to have offered less than favorable conditions.

I usually never write reviews but feel others should know about the lack of good management at this motel. Due to the death of our son, we go away for holidays. I called the Outer Banks Motel, Buxton, NC and made a reservation for 12/22/2022-12/26/2022. I was required to make a $254.06 deposit. I was advised of a 14 -day cancellation policy. On 02/19/2022 I went to UNC Urgent Care and was diagnosed with COVID-19 virus infection and advised to self-quarantine. My husband started feeling sick and took a COVID 19 Home Test. He tested positive. On 02/20/2022, doing what I thought was the responsible thing to do, I called the motel and cancelled our reservations. I asked the young man that answered the phone if it would be possible to waive the 14-day advance, due to the infection and use it in 2023. He said that was fine and asked if I wanted to rebook then. I wasn't feeling well and wanted to check with my husband if he wanted the same dates, so I told him I would call back. He said that was fine. I called back on 02/02/2023 and spoke to woman who rebooked the same dates and room. The rate had increased to $155.00, but I was not required to pay a deposit because she was using my 2022 deposit. I didn't receive a new confirmation email but was not concerned because I trusted her and felt our reservations were in place. On 06/24/2023 I received a random email referencing a new reservation that had been made. But curiously the email did not reflect a deposit, that is required when you book. I called the motel and explained the situation, at first I was told that a refund of 118.76 was credited to my card. It was not! After many frustrating calls and many requests for the manager to call me. I finally decided he wasn't going to honor the previous agreement made by his staff or call me. I told them to cancel the reservation and remove my credit card information. Not sure if that has been done, because I have not received an email stating it had been done. After all this, I definitely will not stay at this motel.

Outer Banks Motel offers great little cottage style rooms with beach access. The office area staff were great. The room reminded me of a Cape Cod cottage. To get to the beach, you climbed over small sand dunes. Sand pretty much got everywhere and they supplied a broom to help keep your room a bit less sandy. Each "cottage" had a screened in porch, microwave, fridge, TV, AC etc. It was our responsibility to keep it clean and make our beds. It was close to places to go eat and a short ride to the ferry to Ocracoke Island. There was a salt water pool with chairs available as most Outer Banks beaches have strong undertows and rip currents. This was the priciest stay of our vacation but worth the splurge.

NO NO NO NO!!!!! I'm here now. Horrible! Nowhere near the beach - no internet, no TV (and according to the unhelpful girl in the office there is nothing she can do about it), in a stupid little "cabin" over a mile down the road from where they advertized I'd be staying, with nothing but a nasty creek behind it. DON'T STAY HERE!!!

Unit had excellent access to the beach which was critical as we were traveling with an elderly person. The commode was too low but maintenance happily and immediately installed a riser I purchased. Certainly not a fancy place to stay but it was clean and had the basics.

This is not a nice place and the pictures don’t show you what you get. To top it off, the staff called to verify our arrival and said nothing about the storm or the chance of being stuck on the island. We arrived and left, a good thing or we would have been stuck in this terrible room for a few days. Perhaps the owners see this as a wa to keep the rooms full. We took some pictures so you can get an accurate representation of the room. Notice the lamp, the worn out bedding and the missing pieces of blinds on our “oceanside room” (Don’t expect a view with an oceanside room). If you decide to stay in This area check the weather - we are from another state and didn’t think to, the hotel didn’t say anything until we arrived. We also suggest another hotel, stay clear of this one.

Book a Stay at the OBX motel, wasn't sure what I was going to find. The place was amazing. A unique blend of old and new. New being high speed WiFi , Cable TV , microwave, mini fridge, K-cup coffee and AC was excellent. Old being the place is OLD I don't think you would be allowed to build so close to the waters edge today( I was in unit 106). The interior was clean, functional and in good repair. It s Old but not run down, it looked as though it was from the 1950 and not abused or perfectly restored. What I mean is some old motels have bathrooms with 20 layers of caulk around the tub, missing handles loose shower heads and patched together bits and pieces. This place look unused, like the day it was built in the 1950's, everything looked and functioned as new.

Imagine a motel your grandparents would have stayed in - but with AC, WiFi, 50 channel HD TV. That's what you've got here. I think this is a place you either like or can't stand. Wooden porch with old wooden rocking chairs. Wooden steps and wooden railings (watch for splinters). To get to even the first floor you go up a flight of stairs. The beds were nice, the kitchen was nice. The bathroom was small but adequate. Everything looked dated. Is that charming or off-putting? You decide. The location is great - RIGHT along the beach. Maybe too close. It really looks like one building will be falling in to the ocean soon. I gave it 4 stars, but 3.5 would be more like it. See my photos.
