Hotel's Favourite
Wish I had begun my trip here at The Mayton. So beautiful and luxurious. Everyone, the front desk, the doorman, and especially the waitress, were friendly and obviously proud of working there. I already decided I will be planning another stay later this year.

Went to the Mayton to visit our son and needed a good place to stay that wasn't over the top and well located. We typically travel five Star but the one locally in Cary was double the price and for a weekend trip when we'd not be in the room a lot it felt silly. We also thought the proximity to town was good. The Mayton came recommended by our son and another friend in Chapel Hill so we booked and went.
Room was comfortable, spacious. Check in was great. The gentleman showed us an upgrade and we decided to go with our choice. They had treats by the front desk. The lobby is warm and welcoming and the hotel is really lovely. Our only quibble was the bedding was little spongey (hearing creaks of wires when getting in/out) and any time my hubby or I turned over someone was getting jostled. Also it was starting to get cold out (season change) and the comforter was too thin for the weather. Pillows faux down and when we asked for the real thing they said they don't have them. No slippers or robes in the room. The room wasn't promising luxe but some of the basics are important. Loved that they had coffee, coffee maker, nice amenities (soaps etc) and the shower and bathroom were clean.
Restaurant too was nice though the first day the breakfast eggs came way over salted and peppered but we gave our feedback and mine (inedible) were removed from the tab. They handled it well and the next day we hosted a couple for brunch and it was great. Service terrific.
Housekeeping was a smidge off, waste baskets not getting emptied, having to call twice for cleaning, asked for extra towels and they aren't left. Not the end of the world but just need a sharper edge.
This is a lovely hotel well located and gets the job done. It is comfortable and inviting. Just needs a few items tuned up.

Our room was fantastic and housekeeping did an excellent job. But accommodating early arrives or scheduling housekeeping to service the room while you are out seems to be a challenge. Staff is pleasant and listens to requests but came up short on execution at times.

+1
My husband and I stayed one night at the Mayton Inn in Cary while on our way to Savannah. I booked our reservation on the Mayton’s website, making sure to book a superior king room, as their website explained that all of those rooms offered a walk in shower and either a claw foot or garden tub. I had seen photos of their outstanding guest bathrooms on both the website and social media, so I was so excited to see which bathroom we’d get.
While arriving at the hotel, the manager working the front desk could not find our reservation. There was absolutely nothing in their system, even though I had booked via their website. Unfortunately, she also mentioned how someone had called, trying to have something sent to our room but were unable to since they didn’t have my reservation. (This turned out to be a surprise my husband had tried to set up since it happened to be our anniversary, so he was very disappointed that it had been leaked to me, especially since when he called, he continuously explained that it was to be a surprise).
After still being unable to find our reservation in their system, I pulled up my confirmation email to show the manager and she stated that she would upgrade our room since there had been confusion on their end. We were very thankful for this upgrade, but upon entering in to the upgraded room, we were unfortunately disappointed. We had dinner reservations at their restaurant, Verandah, within minutes, so we didn’t have time to ask to be moved to another room.
The room was very spacious and beautiful, but needed a good, deep clean. The floors looked like they hadn’t been cleaned and we even found a random sock on the middle of the living room floor. There was no shade on the window inside of the shower, and since this hotel is only 3 levels and is surrounded by bars and apartments, it was quite nerve wrecking to be able to clearly see groups of people outside the window while trying to shower. The bathroom did not have a walk in shower nor nice tub like we wanted, which was solely why we booked a specific type of room here to begin with. It was just a regular shower/tub combo, although the double sinks were a plus. One of the window shades in the bedroom was broken and one of the nightstands had clearly received a “makeover” which resulted in numerous ripples from the laminate that the nightstand had been wrapped in, making it difficult to place a cup on it for fear of tipping over.
The baseboards around the entire room desperately need a good wipe down, and with the size and additions this room had, I was shocked to not see more amenities like a kitchen towel or sponge and dish soap.
All in all, we enjoyed our time here, but did leave feeling disappointed in our accommodations (hence the 3 stars). However, the staff were great and they were always smiling and very friendly, which is always much appreciated.
We would love to give this hotel another try some day and truly hope the new owners keep up with the renovations; as it really is a beautiful building in a beautiful setting.

First off this is a nice place and I would stay again. So when you look at this review I am doing it as critical and not picky based on the price Of the room. The entrance and staff are unique, and Cary is so beautiful. I was thrilled with my stay. A few things stand out, though. Our room was a King suite it was very lovely and colorful, just like the rest of the hotel, but the pictures on the wall were not level and we were missing amenities in the bathroom. The furniture in the room and in the hallway looked very dated, almost like it was bought off Craiglist. Our shower was wheelchair accessible and was very awkward to use and with me being so tall the shower was very low we made our appt months in advance so I don't understand why this was the only room available to us when we were given a different room when we made the reservations so early and for some reason it was changed. Overall nice place I do feel when you spend a considerable amount on a room, you shouldn't have to ask the front desk for anything they should check with you to make sure everything satisfactory this didn't happen we were greeted at check in and not spoke to at all after that. The restaurant inside is very good but the decor is none existent it's like we were eating in a fellowship hall at a church. We would go back to this hotel but we would look harder at other places first before deciding.

The rooms were spotless, most of the staff were awesome and paid attention to detail and greeting people with smiles, and showed their desire, to help the guest. The restaurant hosts and management was poor, unkept in dress and in attitude, no manager to be found to correct their poor communication skills. They had an attitude and it showed in how they spoke, dress and in their lack of work ethics

We came just overnight for our anniversary and it was lovely! We had the best night. The hotel was gorgeous, so crisp and clean, and room service from the restaurant was incredible—the pimento cheese dip was unbelievably delicious. The huge bathtub was heavenly. There are tons of channels on the television. Parking is a little sparse, and there’s no written info in the room about anything, so scouring their website is the way to find out about things like room service. But overall, it was wonderful. We really just had a fantastic time.

My husband and I stayed at The Mayton Inn to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary. We had a lovely weekend!! As soon as we pulled up to the property, we were greeted by Dana who was very nice and offered to take our luggage to our room. The property is gorgeous and even though it is older, it has been beautifully renovated. Once inside, we were greeted by Paul, who welcomed us with a smile and checked us in very quickly. We booked a Superior King Room and it was so spacious and clean. It was perfect for a weekend getaway and the location was prime and a short Uber ride away to the restaurants we dined at Friday and Saturday night. We were able to find parking on the street and the area was walkable. We dined at Peck & Plume the following Saturday morning for brunch, and the food was delicious and served promptly. We also ordered room service Sunday morning and it was equally delicious. The bed was very comfortable and the room had all the amenities we needed. We would definitely stay at the Mayton Inn again and thanks to their wonderful staff, we were able to truly unwind and enjoy our anniversary!

We spent a wonderful weekend at the Mayton Inn. The staff (every single person we met) was kind, courteous and went out of their way to make the stay perfect. Great location with a nice restaurant in the Inn as well as some great places in walking distance.

My husband selected this hotel for our little getaway. Beautiful location and the building and interior is very classic and historic. When we checked in it was very smooth, the reservationist was pleasant but not overly friendly, he didn’t explain housekeeping, room service etc. Due to COVID changes. Our room was on a very large corner, it was clean and very comfortable bed. Negative was lighting, the bedside table lamps didn’t work, nor did the outlet for charging phones. One of the can lights flickered occasionally. The bath tub was unsafe it didn’t have a mat and you had to lift your leg pretty high to get in the oversized tub to take a shower, no hand rail.(we aren’t old either). Also the phone system was terrible, I called the front desk several times to a busy signal, I had to call using my cell phone to get through. There was no instructions/information in the room about using the phone for in room dining , TV guide was nonexistent, it didn’t say what was on other than the channel so you had to open the channel and visually see. A bit frustrating. It’s ashamed because it’s a beautiful place to stay and if not for these things I would’ve given it a 4!

The Inn from my observation is running well. I was concerned about financial issues and even parking, but everything was operating as a well-functioning business from my perspective as a guest last week (Oct 2019). I understand they are booking weddings and holiday parties. I'm sure the management could talk with you and answer questions about your concerns.
