My daughter and I stayed here for 4 days. When I say that this experience was one of the best that we have had, that’s no exaggeration. The campsites on the river allowed me to cook dinner over a fire while watching my daughter and her new camp friends play in the water (never getting bored).Every person we met, from the amazing staff to our site neighbors were so friendly and it was truly magical. The sites are all walking distance from the restrooms, and all big enough that you have your own personal space. The loud, booming river being right there gives it a unique sense of solitude, even though you’re a 2 minute drive from downtown chimney rock. Being able to wake up early in the morning and fish right from the tent site was so therapeutic. I can not recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: Visit chimney rock as soon as they open, there are less people and better views.

It's hard to beat the location--very close to Chimney Rock state park, walking distance to the village, and camping next to a good size river. Our site was well maintained and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. Sites are close together which is typical for a private campground but we had good and friendly neighbors both nights. The river and it's white noise are especially wonderful and tend to mask the noise of other campers which makes it feel more like you're the only camper, especially at night.
The only complaint is the wifi which (since we had no cell service) can become almost a necessity when researching places to visit and when and how to go. The wifi is great in the game room area since that's where the access point is. But get 25 feet away from it and it goes away quickly. But if you need information, ask the owners or fellow campers! They will help you with whatever you need.
Very dog friendly place as well!

This place is awesome!!! Top ten places we’ve ever camped. The tent sites are right on the river, the kids tubed all day long, it was quiet and friendly. Highly recommend. The spots are pretty small, but we fit our gigantic tent and extra table in no problem.

If you are wondering why there a so few photos of the camping sites in the campground, it is because the owner has unfortunately let it go to waste. The owners have a lot of new equipment to keep it running well so I do not think it is a money issue. Just a lack of pride in the service that they provide. It looks like there are plenty of workers so it is not a staffing issue. Many of the sites with covered areas are falling down with no sign off fixing them. The restroom looks like it has not been cleaned in months. One of the stalls has the remains of a nest. A broom was outside the door so I swept out the one stall I needed to use. Shower was luke warm at best. The roads are need of repair..... It is a shame because it is such a great location. I guess the owners are banking on location to keep them in business. Shame on me, I read the negative reviews and still chose to book it. Maybe if people stop staying there, they might get the message that if they want to charge $50+, they need to put some effort into the property. At the very least, clean the bathroom:)

This was our first time here! We will be back again for sure! Our kids loved the campground and so did we! We had a few hickups along during our stay (24 hours without water- they truly were working hard to fix the issue and offered distilled water in the mean time. The wifi is not reliable, and that's not due to the amount of campers. We also lost power several times on Sunday.)... Normally the wifi thing wouldn't bother us, but with remote learning, we had to cut our trip short so the kids could make up the work from Thursday & Friday. I was told upon packing up, had we went to the game room area we would have been fine. The owners are amazing and super nice! They just took over not long ago, and you can tell they can't wait to do some updating! We would give this location a solid 8 (yea, even with those hickups), because we know this will be the trip our kids remember forever... Due to the amazing time in river, the views, the town and of course our 24hrs of boondock river bathing time! Haha

Well… My husband and I booked one of the Tiny Cabins. It was not what the website described! The website said that it had an air conditioner, t.v. Wi-Fi and all. Well what we got was a tiny empty cabin with bunk beds ( Which we were expecting anyway ) and a small fan. And that was it!. I know that the campground itself is a work in progress. But they really need to update the website and tell you really what to expect . But they did offer us a full refund, which we gladly excepted and we just drove other hour and a half ( After driving all day!☹️)to our favorite place Maggie Valley.

As others have noted, the owners are friendly, kind, and caring. We loved being on the river with the sound of the rushing water. Though others mentioned poor WiFi, that has been improved with repeaters in the campground. The WiFi is now fantastic, as is the cable TV. It’s a short 10 minute walk to town where there are shops, a couple of restaurants and a brewery, as well as the wonderful Burntshirt winery and bistro. We loved the peaceful atmosphere and proximity to Chimney Rock State Park and some hiking trails.

We were here in July 2020 with a travel trailer. Pros: Very friendly staff, beautiful location on the water, nice little camp shop if you need propane/marshmallows, etc. Cons: If tent camping, only 1 bathroom with 1 camper at a time (Covid) , but again, everyone is doing what they can to stay safe! The bath/shower house is similar to a kids’ summer camp. The camper sites could use some fresh gravel as they were super muddy with heavy downpour. Under “normal” circumstances, there’s also a game room and area for Sunday services.
I would recommend this campground, and would stay here again!

Traveled in end of June to do a social distancing vacation. Kind of hard to do here with neighbors so close. If you are looking for privacy and heavily wooded this is not the place for you. We were in tent site 76 and loved the view and sound of the river. Kids and adults in our group enjoyed the rock jumping, wading, and fishing behind our tent. The rushing noises helped to cover up the camper noises while we slept. There was only 1 bathroom working in our loop, so it was a unisex bathroom. This was disappointing due to coronavirus and all of us had to share 1 bathroom with 2 showers, 1 toilet, and urinal. We would return as it was so beautiful!

We've travelled through this area often and passed this place before, but were always staying with family or friends. Thanks to Covid, we finally had a chance to check it out and would definitely come back. It's quiet, a mix of folks who clearly stay all summer and those who are there for just a week or shorter. It's fairly well kept, although could use some upkeep (the railing of our porch was loose, for example) which I'm guessing it tough to do during the summer months. Our ginormous tent fit under the roofed deck, plus the picnic table, which was fantastic during the summer afternoon rain showers. I do wish there was more than one bathroom for the tent campers but it's a gorgeous setting and the perfect starting point for mountain adventures.

Hickory Nut Gorge Trailhead is about 6 miles down the road from the campground. There are trails starting on each side of the road from the small parking area. One goes to a small waterfall. There are also trails in Chimney Rock State Park which is next to the campground (though you have to drive into the park). The microbrewery in Chimney Rock is good, and the Burntshirt Winery is excellent with good food too. Check out the flowering bridge in nearby Lake Lure. Asheville and Hendersonville are 30-40 minutes away.
Yes one at chimney rock park & we found that it was behind our campsite also. There is a county close by that is nicknamed county of waterfalls, it starts with a L but I can't remember. God Bless & enjoy your adventure!!!
